The Faith at Home movement is changing church in North America and across the world. As more and more leaders realize that lasting, lifelong faith is rarely taught in Sunday school but is rather ";caught"; from parents, they are shifting their focus and resources to equip families for spiritual formation. Church + Home is the essential blueprint for church leaders who want to make the change count eternally.Pastors, children’s and youth ministers and lay leaders will learn how to reestablish the home as faith’s primary incubator, to build bridges between church and home, and to envision and implement family ministry in their church, no matter its size. Most of all, they will find practical tools for weaving family ministry into the DNA of their church community. This revised and updated title from a primary leader in the Faith at Home movement includes everything a church needs to put faith back where it at home.
A great book for ministry leaders to get focussed on equipping families for Christian discipleship in the home. Parents are 3x as influential on a kids spiritual life than any church program or leader! I'm now processing how to work the Faith@Home movement into all the NextGen ministries at TJC.
This is for people looking to apply this specific program to their church. Some good points, but buried in promotion of the program. The book says more about how the program is great than how to apply it. The entire book is spent convincing people the value of this ministry, and this ministry IS essential, but it prevents the book from getting deep enough into specifics. If you already know the value of all-generation, home-centred ministry I recommend reading Intergenerational Christian Formation by Allen and Ross instead.
To be quite honest, this book is disappointing. Mark Holmen mentions his Church+Home program so much, it's more like a promotional book rather than a tool to help churches expand their help to their congregation.
While addressed to pastors, this book would be useful to anyone seeking to lead their church in returning the focus to tranfroming families rather than church events.
