An action-packed Indiana Jones adventure for younger readers. One of the first books I read from the library as a kid.

The story was engaging and well paced overall, with a solid amount of action throughout. It’s definitely a fun read.

That said, I wish Indy didn’t rely on randomly throwing magic and instead used more of his wit and intelligence to defeat the arch druid. And while Herman was a likable character, the lack of a female companion was a little disappointing.

To the little shit who ripped out a dozen pages in the middle of my “pre-loved” copy of this book… oh, who am I kidding—it was probably your little sister. I hope a few pink ponies made it into the garbage disposal, at least.

To the scumbags who sell books without first checking whether or not they’re intact, sit on this and rotate. (And then let me have a turn. No hogging!)

The cover of this one alone sets my imagination on fire. Of all the books in the series, it was my favorite. Probably the only one I read twice and kept (until I didn’t.) I probably got it at a school book fair.

I can’t think of a better book for a young boy: action, adventure, friendship, bullies, magic powers, archaeology, cool fathers, history, Stonehenge. If at least one of the other Young Indy books holds up as ell as this one I’ll be happy. Between Young Indiana Jones, Young Sherlock Homes, and James Bond Jr, Indy was my favorite. Probably because of these books more than the tv show.

Indy’s still in England with his boarding school buddy (Harlan Mueller), and this time they hit Stonehenge (Indy’s first time, which Indy seems to forget when he goes there a second time a decade later, along with the town of Amesbury and all of its secret societies for some reason).
There are, of course, druids, Germans, and … barrow wights?!

This is originally a children's book, and that's why it is not the most detailed anthropological/archeological document ever, yet it is a great source of joy to whoever s intrested in history, exploring and ancient cultures! Since I am a big fan of those, I assume I'd keep reading YIJ as much as I can!
The movies are amazing, too !

I read this book aloud to my boys (age 8 and 12). We all enjoyed it, and literally felt like cheering when Indy caught the bad guy. There's a boarding school bully in the book, which gives an opportunity for talking about bullying.
