I lost a lot of faith in the accuracy of this information because half the actors' names were misspelt :/ I feel like this was written in a hurry with little care for proofreading.
My library categorizes this as "teen non-fiction", and it reads like it was written by a teenager. A giddy one. There are grammatical errors, plenty of gushing, and there's too much speculation about future plot lines. The cover states that this is a "totally unofficial guide to the hit tv series", but it's NOT a guide to the show. This is a book that provides background info on the show, and mini-biographies of most of the cast members, in chapter form with an annoyingly immature narrative style. I was expecting something along the lines of a full-color episode guide- perhaps something that started with character and cast bios, proceeded into episode guides with track listings and peppered with trivia tidbits. The book is divided into chapters. There is very little trivia or behind-the-scenes info. There are only two thin inserts of color photos, and most of the pictures shown there are from press parties and similar situations. I can't remember a single picture from any poignant or pivotal point in the show. There is a track listing for season one's episodes in the back of the book, but some of the songs are missing and some of the songs are incorrectly credited. On the whole I found this book to be very disappointing. Surely someone out there could produce a better guide to this show- it's popular enough. I am kind of disappointed that I had to wait for months to get this from the library.
I liked the book. Really. It was informative. I picked up a ton of facts about the actors, the show, everything Glee.
What I didn't like was the fact that it mostly had nothing to say but good stuff about the show. Yes, it is a Glee book supposed to bring the show some publicity and whatnot. But, people, Glee isn't just about the good stuff. There was a lot of controversy about the show in Season 1 alone.
I'm going to make this review short. I liked it. I just wish it had something more, and that something, I don't know.
This is another attempt to capitalize on the public's need for all things Glee that ultimately doesn't satisfy. There's a little bit of information about the start of the show, what happens on set, and information about the different cast members. There's really nothing there that's not already been said about Glee, and there are absolutely no citations for any of the quotations. A better title by far is Don't Stop Believin': The Unofficial Guide to Glee
First Glee book I've read, and best described as "silly-cute." It was not terribly deep, and actually read so much like the book version of an E! True Hollywood Story that I kept hearing the lines read in that voice. It's so bad at times it's almost good. I kept wanting to pencil in reactions to things in the margins. But I did learn a few interesting things, like Dianna Agron's Tumblr URL and Heather Morris' background on So You Think You Can Dance.
I was bored at lunchtime at the bookstore and saw it sitting on the shelf.. almost calling my name. It was fun to look at the pics and read a little bit about Glee.. It's like watching a Musical every Tuesday night at *... its great!!
I enjoyed this book a lot...it showed a lot of background of the characters bios that I havn't heard before. It was a very indept novel of one of my favorite shows!
