I picked up this book as soon as it came out. I have to say that it is one of the best beginner type books I have ever read. Very well done. I left feeling I understood the basics of git good enough to use it much more.

I don't usually read technical books (ironic, since I'm a software engineer), but i read this out of boredom. It was okay.
But if you're interested in getting git, I'd recommend watching a video tutorial. There's plenty out there.
