Cats 24/7 each collects more than 500 intimate, funny, and charming photographs taken by professional and amateur photographers. Here are our four-legged companions at their best, up close and personal in small towns and big cities, farms and parks, kitchens and living rooms. Combining great pictures, compelling stories, and insightful essays, this lavish volume is a fitting tribute to our feline friends.
As a cat rescuer and a photographer, it would be a good guess that I would love this book. I did. I said "awwwwww" a lot. The photography is beautiful, as are the cats.
So I absolutely LOVED this book! It was so much fun to read, and I really enjoyed going through each and every single page about reading the personal stories underneath each photograph and the small stories that were laid throughout each part of the book. The photography and vividness of the imagery, isn't that great, but it was still worth it! There were two parts, however, that I found a bit unnecessary, like the one of the 9/11 memory boat, why was it even need there? You are not supposed to mix pets and politics- let alone cats. But, I am well aware that this book was published right after the incident, and the euthanasia picture. If the publishers were more than willing to capture the image of a cat at a pet shelter, that was in a cage and most probably going to be euthanized (as the description below had said), then why did they take the picture and write the description of the image, instead of rescuing that cat and all of the others from there instead??? I know that they were most likely trying to spread awareness about what was going on at that shelter (and hopefully it did spread plenty of awareness), but c'mon man, c'mon!!!! I think that those two aspects, were what had stopped me from ordering this otherwise extremely fun book with a custom image of our cats on the cover (since the book did say that this was an option on their website), so: yeah....
Though at times inaccurate, the lack of advocacy for these beautiful little beings gets made up for with some of the most beautiful cat photographs gathered in one volume.
My son loves cats! So any book that involves anything about cats he picks it up. This book was delightful and we enjoyed learning about the cats from all over the world.
Cats 24/7 was a really enjoyable cat book, full of wonderful pictures of cats and a few very enjoyable cat stories, you may even learn something you didn't know about cats. There were cute pictures of cats and pictures of cats just being cats along with a little blurb with each featured picture. There were also three installments of short stories/text. The first was an essay, the other two were short stories that I loved, the first was Catch of the Day by Patti Schroeder, a story about a cat who got his head stuck in a garbage disposal (don't worry this isn't a horror story) and the second, The Christmas Kitten by James Herriot was a bit of a teary one but you'll end it with a smile on your face. My only complaint is that I wish the thumbnail photo's were slightly larger so we could see them better, but I really enjoyed it! Recommended for all cat lovers!
Lovely photos, with fun "biographical" information about each featured cat, in interesting settings--more than just the pretty/cute standard fare. Three short stretches of text, one hilarious about a cat who got his head stuck in a garbage disposal (and was fine of course), one Herriot's "Christmas Kitten" (tearjerking).
As a cat lover, I loved these photos and short readings. I appreciated how they did not include "stupid" cat photos. Available to be personalized with your cat!
In the great tradition of A Day in the Life and dating back to a time before LOLcats and Grumpy Cats...just lots of awesome photos of furry feline friends.
