Well, wouldn't you like to know? A contemporary and slightly wacky book that draws from the ancient, sometimes unusual wisdom of the 12 Minor Prophets. Filled with humor, clever design elements, and recurring gimmicks (such as the Nabal Awards), each chapter will target one human tendency, action or activity that hurts or disappoints God aka "ticks him off." The authors show how He responds to our negative actions and attitudes, and suggest remedies to avoid the consequences. Driven by the themes and characters of the Minor Prophets, the book has a solid Biblical foundation.
As you can tell from the cover this book was written by two dudes who do not seem like scholars, who do not think too deeply about what they are saying, and that are very confident about what they are saying. I was told this would be a good book to give to lay people at church if they were interested in the minor prophets, but to do so I think that this book would give them a skewed view of God and his prophets.
This is a short book that I read for my Minor Prophets course at Ozark with Bob Witte as the professor. One aspect of this read that I appreciated the most was that it made commentary information accessible for an everyday Christian. This is a perfect resource for anyone looking to expand their knowledge on the minor prophets and it has incredible insights on these books that are not typically covered in the Church today! It is a short read that is nothing short of rich in content and it is a perfect resource for pastors and churchgoers that are looking to enrich their faith and expand their intimate knowledge of the Minor Prophets. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and would recommend it highly HOWEVER I did rate it slightly lower because of some questionable imagery and word usage that was off putting to me in this book initially. It wasn't huge but it was enough to irk me overtime despite how much I liked this book.
