One of my fave First Loves's , though it skimps a little in the love department ( not a major flaw as First Love's were known for allowing romances to go astray in favor of adventure , mystery or a flavorful locale. ) And it doesn't get much more flavorful ( especially in the 80's ) than a busy department store! Carole Sloan is weeks into her summer job at Hammonds a upscale department store , and trying to prove her mettle with Miss Casey ( the buyer for Hammonds ) predicts that an ugly dress will fail to sell. She's right the dress is a dog , but it takes more than mere instinct to learn the in's and outs of retailing or impress Miss Casey. However as her love for retailing grows ( this is the real romance! ) a hunk by the name of Gregg Dalton ( love the name , two g's?! Implications of Timothy Dalton ) is spotted in the receiving room but can she allow 'precious Saturdays to melt away like soap suds'? She'll have to choose between Gregg and her budding career.
