The last Ms. Understanding is about a female named Rita who is very well established in her career and searching for that one true love. Someone to love her for her personality and charisma and not her finances and looks. She runs into Lee, a guy who lives a simple life as a mailroom clerk making $15 an hour and hangs out at his uncles lounge with his best friend Keith. Strangely, these two hit it off and begin dating against everyone's opinions that it wouldn't work between them. Nine months later Rita begins to discover that Lee hasn't been 100% honest with her about his past and the person that he is today.

I rated this novel 3.5 based on book presentation, book price, character development, storyline, and editing. I originally purchased this book based on the cover, price, and synopsis. The title alone let me know that it would be about a woman who would get hurt somehow and would no longer trust a guy or men. When I began reading it I felt like I was forcing myself to stay interested. Rita seemed a little over the top to me but that may be because I don't run into her type on a regular basis but I found that Lee, like most men, just let things escalate for no real reason. Rita has already proven to be understanding and forgiving so why keep lying over minute things? The book used a lot of good verbage but at times I felt that it was too descriptive. For example, "Simone's beauty was breathtaking, it took Lee's breath away from him and threatened to not give it back" I know by "took his breath away" that the breath was being taken from Lee. There are a lot of sentences like this that just took me away from the story. At other times some typo's would force me to read the sentence over a few times to figure out what the author is trying to say. I got to about 80% of the book and that was the nine months of Rita and Lee's involvement and then the last 10%-15% rushed through a marriage of Lee and Simone, adoption of Simone's son Shawn, birth of a new child and all of this was 1 year and 6 months later. I remember reading that Lee told Keith that he was the father of Shawn and only Lee, his mother, and Simone's father knew that truth. Then they bring up Lee signing adoption papers for Shawn, so I'm still confused about this part.

Overall, it was an okay read but nothing I would brag about or probably remember.

I thought this book was ok. I really thought Lee and Rita would make it. His decision to get back with Simone was just so out of left field, and it just made no seems to me. I would have like to see Rita and Lee to have much better closure than what they had. It was sad to see thugs end how they did.

While I thought this book was just ok, I highly recommend the Royce Tyler series.
