Leah Wolfe has retired from serious police work in favor of seeking a normal life. Her unique, yet not fully discovered supernatural abilities allow her to speak to the souls of the dead, providing vital information in the search for their killers. Her abilities have also cost her almost everyone she has ever loved including her mother, who abandoned her to fend for herself on the streets, and, most recently, her ex-fiancé Joaquín Wildhorse, Chief Detective of the Native American Reservation Police Department. But when Joaquín’s new lover is found brutally murdered on the reservation, he turns to Leah for help. The hunt for a vicious killer leads Leah to sexy Ian Nightwalker and Leah is unable to walk away from the case that may cost her her most guarded possession of all. Her heart.

A very nice beginning for a new series. The story reminds me of Anita Blake but also gives a lot of reference to the Blood Countess Elizabeth Bathory. This is a nice refreshing twist because though there a plenty of female vampires, I haven't heard mention of any of them referring to the one lady "thought" in history to be the closest thing to a vampire, though there is plenty of talk of Vlad.
All the compontents are here for what is needed in a good. Book there is the star of the book Leah who really doesn't know what the extent of her powers are but there are a ton of people trying to get to her to help her figure it out. Then there is Nightwalker, Ian Nightwalker a sensual and very old vampire who comes out of no where and attempts to move in on Leah and her ex the sexy Native American cop Joaquin is fighting with everything he has not to let Leah go. So there, you have a great plot and a love triangle. What more do you need? One more thing, a strong female lead. Leah is not afraid to voice her opinion. She can take a butt whooping just as well as she can give one. Also, she is strong enough not to be ruled by her emotions...on most occasions. There are also shapeshifters in the story and I like stories that have a mix of both.
What did I not like? Somethings were repeated a few times, but that is a pet peeve of mine especially if the book is not terribly long (177 pgs). But, all good things must come to an end, at least until the second installment is released. So I will be stalking Mrs. Print to see when the next book will released. She will for sure be added to my TBR list.
Title: Nightwalker (A Leah Wolfe Sins Novel) Author: Rhonda L Print Publisher: Liquid Silver Books Publication Date: 2010 ISBN:978-1-59578-753-8 Genre: paranormal romance Length: 177 Rating: 3 1/2 Diamonds Heat Level: Sensual Reviewer: Brecken Stevens Date: July 19, 2011
Though she wants to use her ‘gifts’ for good, detective work burned Leah Wolfe out, leading her into retirement early. Between her former fiancé and her adopted father, Leah can’t completely walk away, especially when paranormal women start turning up violently dead. Lean meets Ian Nightwalker, a vampire with more secrets and history than Leah could imagine. The hunt for the killer threatens everything Leah has come to hold dear and she’ll be lucky if she makes it out alive.
Nightwalker had some serious surprise and twisty-turny moments. I’d start to get pulled one way, thinking that was the direction the story would go, only for something different to happen. The secondary characters are very rich in this story and I hope to see more of them in future stories by Ms. Print. The only part that really got me was the end. No one-at all-was happy in the end. Not even a little. I understand it’s the first in a series, but after growing so attached to everyone, I would have at least liked a glimmer of someone being happy at the wrap. I guess I’ll just have to read the next one and hope for someone getting what they want.
I was given this book for an honest review and my honest thoughts, so here goes...
Okay, first - I will state that this is book comes in under 200 pages. To give you a "realization" of how short/long this book is. You never judge a book by its cover (as a friend reminded me a while back) nor do you judge it by the pages... But just wanted you to know... Okay, review time....
OMFG!!!!!!!!Seriously... OMFG!!!!!This BOOK IS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This woman is the bomb!!!!!!!!!!!! Wait... This woman freaking Rocks Apples!!!!!!
I am praying that since you are all readers, that most of you have heard of Janet Evanovich and her Stephanie Plum series.... That is for the romance world.... Well, move over Janet because Rhonda Print has come into town! Janet has Ranger and Joe...... But..... Rhonda gave me Ian and Joaquin!! And OMG... they are hot! I know that this is not the last we hear of Leah... And just like Stephaine's books..... Leah will give you everything you need and a whole lot more ~ I promise!!
This is my first book by Ms. Rhonda but you can bet your sweet ass it is not my last! Ms. Rhonda has some real mad wicked writing skills. She crafted such a story that rocked my world and left me wanting more... Seriously, wanting more. No, I am really serious... I want more on Leah, Ian (oh God that man is Sex on a Stick) and Joaquin... More I say... more!!!
Normally, I know exactly where to start on my review, but this book has my feelings in sorts due to how much I truly love this book ~ the characters, the story line, the action, the drama, the emotions, the tension, the lies, the pain, the love, the triangle.... Oh yea........ Just wait till you pick it up.
When I started this story... It started slow and soft... Slow kinda like molasses and soft... kinda like feather kisses. But then Ms. Rhonda heated up the kitchen and kicked in the spices. You think you can handle more of this review....
Leah.... Where do I start with this woman? I can say that I admire her stubbornness and I love how she doesn't take crap from anyone... Man, woman (okay... Well, there is one woman she will listen to), vampire, shapeshifter, demon... or anything else for that matter! I have to say this woman has a set of balls on her that make me admire her even more. She is devoted to the family that she has, Wilson and Alli. But I feel her pain when it comes to broken hearts... And when it comes to repairing that heart.... Does Ian stand a chance in hell at being the one to repair it... Or will Joaquin keep reminding her of what they had...?? Or will Leah's curse... I mean gift... get in the way of what could be her future?
Joaquin is Leah's ex.... Yep, you guessed it.. He is the one that tore her heart out and ripped it in half. Although... you will have to read how he added a little salt to the wound. But other than that, he really is a great guy. Seriously, he is. He is there for Leah... for whatever may come her way. But he wasn't there for her when she really needed him and now he is paying the price... They say "a woman fury is nothing to mess with"... Well, let's just say that Joaquin has his hands full... or would love to have his hands full again with Leah. And when her life gets threaten.... He wants more than anything to be the one she runs to...
That leaves Ian... Oh man Oh man Oh man... This man, well... he is not really a man, I will let you find out what he is... A SMOKING HOT SIZZLING MAN! Okay, so I thought he was hot. I can admit it. Anyways... Ian is the man that knows exactly what Leah is and still wants to love her for it. But first he must get her to admit that she needs protection... Because we all know that strong, independent women don't normally admit stuff like that. But Ian has been around long enough to have the patience needed to truly be there for Leah... Is he man enough to mend her broken heart or will he hurt her more?
This is an explosive story... One that will drag you in from the first page till the last page. I hated that I had to go to work the next day... Because I just wanted to keep reading without sleep. Ms. Rhonda made me feel for each of the characters in this story... Even the damn bad guys... Well, I wanted to beat the crap out of one and the other... Well... Staking his ass would have been nice too. But still... The characters are told in a way that you will come to love them. The drama is just enough to give the story the depth that it will need to continue and the passion in the story is enough... Well, it is enough to make you hot before you go to bed. But what I love the most is that Ms. Rhonda tied that all together for one hot hell'va awesome story.
This is an awesome story ~ as I stated earlier... In case you did not read that part. Ms. Rhonda freaking rocked my world and left me wanting more. And for a hussy to say that, you know it had better been damn good! So what the hell are you waiting for... Go get the damn thing now!!! I swear to you on my Hussy name, you won't be disappointed... Just make sure you drop me a line and let me know which one you picked... Ian or Joaquin??? Can you do it?!?! Dare ya!
Ms. Rhonda... ***stands up and applauds*** This has to be one of my favorite reads in a very long time!
I’m not sure where to even begin with this, but just imagine watching an awesome paranormal movie in high-def… that was my experience while reading this book. Every single setting and character was crystal clear to picture without all of the overwhelming, unnecessary details. Danger combined with sexy, mysterious men, will leave you panting all the way to the end.
Leah Wolfe is the perfect model of an independent, strong-willed woman and someone (although fictional) I very much admire. After everything she’s been put through from the abandoning of her mother at an early age, the dumping of her fiancé while he called her an “unholy witch”, to the never-ending stream of supernatural creatures that have come out of seemingly nowhere to either possess or kill her; she conquered all of it with a lot of grace, bravery, and a much needed foul-mouthed attitude. I will admit, and so would Leah, that she is a bit of a control freak, but then again I can relate.
The rest of the cast includes so many types of paranormal creatures, it's amazing Ms. Print was able to find a place for each of them. Although some characters only made brief appearances, they all made lasting impressions and those that survive will live to see another day I’m sure, in the next SINS series installment.
I felt completely pulled into this story and I'm sure that has a lot to do with Ms. Print's writing ability and being able to connect her audience to her characters. I experienced every possible emotion right along with our heroine, which only served to solidify a memorable connection to this book. Fans of Cat from the Night Huntress series by Jeaniene Frost and fans of Anita from the Anita Blake Vampire Hunter series by Laurel K. Hamilton, will see bits of both of those heroines in Leah Wolfe and will immediately recognize the telltale signs of a fantastic story.
Regardless of the fact that there isn't really an HEA (happily-ever-after) by the end, it's more like a to-be-continued HEA. I am absolutely thrilled this is series since that means I don't have to give up any of my favorite characters just yet. There's no way I'm not reading the next book! And remember, whatever you do... stay close to the nightwalker. You'll know what I mean when you read the book.
Recommended reading for not just fans of paranormal romance, but fans of fictional reading period.

It took longer than I wanted to get started on this book but, Once I got in the flow of things and was able to sit down I am pleased to say that the book did not disappoint me in the slightest. It was fast paced and kept the thrill in it. As well it kept you guessing and trying to figure things out the suspense was well worth it and just when things seemed to die down or have a moment of silence you were thrust back in full force with a turn of thrill in the story and an arch that took you on a magically wonderful ride.
The romance was there but, there was the twist and turns in the story to keep it tied up between Ian and Joaquin it was hard to find who you wanted to root for more. Then you would find that you hated one just as much as you hated the other and could understand Leah's feelings on both of them. For once unlike some paranormal romance novels the sexual scenes are steamy but not overly done and they still leave somethings to the imagination fading out at just the right moments.
Another thing that I am happy to say is that it wasn't a purely sex based book. To often than not that happens in stories or series and the concept of the book goes utterly lost. For it to be the first I have read in this series I am happy to say job well done to the author.
It just wasn't my cup of tea. I didn't connect with these characters - at all. I love strong women, really I do, I just don't like them when they are overly abrasive, and prideful in their strength to the point that it honestly leaves them open and more vulnerable than before. Leah was just too prickly for me, and indecisive - one minute she's trusting Ian with her life and in the very next second she's screaming at him in distrust and then in the next second she's thinking about getting him naked. I just couldn't seem to believe their romance, even with a novel that you have to suspend a certain amount of belief for in the first place. I didn't care for the voice, the characters, and this type of book isn't really my literature milieu, but I kept reading. Something compelled me to finish this book so underneath all of the little things that bothered me there was some kind of redeeming quality in there that made me keep flipping pages to see where this story was headed. So I will recommend this book to lovers of paranormal romance, love-triangles, overly prideful strong women ;) and shifter/vampire fans but cautiously so. There was a rose of goodness buried in these pages for me, but it took a lot of weeding to get to it.
I very much enjoyed the characters interplay in the book. The lead character Ms. Wolfe is an interesting one. and I will be reading the nest in the series. I guess the reason for three stars is that the main character is a little inconsistent to me. Granted she is going through a lot but from being smart and knowing she does not know enough to ignoring things from people she is aware of as being more informed. By the end of the book I know she was being played somewhat but some of her decisions still seemed to be off from the character she is presented to be. Still this is just IMHO and the book was still a very enjoyable read and this is my first attempt to be an unbiased critic. If you like urban fantasy it is well worth the time.
I made it 70 pages in before giving up on this one. While reading this I couldn't seem to quit comparing this book to the Anita Blake books, so many of the actions and even some phrases were almost the same. I also had a hard time believing the romance. Leah meets Ian at a crime scene, meets him the next night to talk, calls her my love, the next day they are dating, the day after that she is introducing him around as her boyfriend. Even in the fictional world that seems to move very fast. This one just wasn't for me.
A great new addition to the paranormal romance world! Filled with plenty of action, humor and the perfect dose of romance, Nightwalker will capture you and keep you turning the pages in suspense. Fans of strong heroines such as The Hollow’s Rachel Morgan and Cat of the Night Huntress books will love Leah Wolfe!
Wow! I really loved this book and can't wait to read the rest of the series. Ms. Print is a very talented author who writes impeccably. I was immediately drawn in and felt all of Leah's emotions. I couldn't imagine going through what she went through. I can't wait to read the rest of this series!
