In 2050 A.D., the Earth spaceship Tycho lands on the eighth moon of Saturn, nine hundred million miles from the sun. Hugh Benning, a mineraologist, and his men explore the deserted world. When they come to a natural cave, the men begin to stagger and fall. Benning disappears into the mouth of the cave. The pilots gather up the limp forms of Benning's men and return them to Earth. The Impossible World by Eando Binder.

It's got:
- A race of planet stealing lizzards lead by a tyrant named Lorg.
- A heroic space pilot with big hands (something mentioned numerous times).
- A mysterious cloaked Space Scientist who says things like: "I am my own master with all space as my domain".
- A scientist who invented "Adaptine", a liquid that, once injected, adjusts the biology of humans so they can live on any planet with an atmosphere (which seems to be practically every planet in our solar system).
- A doomsday machine made of plastic.

Proof once again that not every thrift store find is an undiscovered gem.

Written by Earl AND Otto Binder, this tells of a race of cold beings who have developed around a dark star 15 billion miles from Earth. With only one planet, they plot to take the moons and planets of our solar system for their own, using a super-science planet mover, and armed with strange forces that Earth has never encountered before. Can the good guys escape their clutches and warn Earth in time? Can the forces of Earth stop them? Of course they can but you'll have to read the book to find out how.

This is a charming and fun book from the Pre-Golden Era of science fiction, back when all the planets in the solar system had oxygen atmospheres, were teeming with life, and gas giants had rocky surfaces ready for human colonization. Those dated aspects aside, this still holds up well. If you stumble across this, it is worth your time exploring some classic sci-fi that is still very readable.
