Moto Raid: Two Guys, Two Motorcycles and a Continent to Conquer: A 1963 Adventure Trip to South America

Rate this book
Ride your bike to Chile? Sounds like a great idea to dream about. But few, how very, very few, have the guts and the gumption to do it. Two Oregon college guys did, in the sixties, and one of them, Keith Thye, has finally got his story down on paper. From heating up canned goods over an open fire to navigating through and across borders, which led to spending some time in jail abroad, these guys had the adventure of a lifetime. They were the only men to try something like this at the time, inspired by the open, dusty road and breaking records on two wheels. "This book is a manual for turning a dream into reality. Just about everything, short of death, happened to them. Keith Thye records the hazards, hassles, and the hair-raising predicaments they found themselves in. What you read between the lines is the incredible joy and satisfaction they experiences riding the Andes and discovering a world few North Americans know." - Ted Simon, Author of "Jupiter's Travels" "Story of trials and tribulations of traveling, written in a matter of fact style that is both honest and witty. A compelling read." - Helge Pedersen, Author of "10 Years on 2 Wheels" "A fascinating story in a time when adventures were real. The trip of Keith Thye and his parter shows that there was, and is still is, a way of traveling to learn about different cultures and people." - Alexander Guth, World Traveler
