When L, M, N, O, P decide to leave the alphabet because the other letters keep making fun of them, the rest of the alphabet realizes how much they are needed and must figure out a way to get them back.
Cute story with popup illustrations. Ridicule drives certain letters of the alphabet away, but both the leavers and remainers discover that nothing is solved that way.
This is a popup book written in rhyme. The author notes the "ABC" learning song has problems with "l,m,n,o,p" being run together. The letters go on a short revolt until returning as they are needed for proper spelling in words. The book serves as a reminder that children have to slow down to include these letters.
I read this with my five year old granddaughter and we both enjoyed it. She lifted the popups or pulled the slide outs as we turned the pages. She actually learned the alphabet song with a slower version of these letters (pausing after "n" in the Twinkle, Twinkle tune) as it is apparently taught in China.
I recommend this as a fun book to help young children remember that these are separate letters.
I told my youngest grandson I needed to read him a book for a book challenge I was doing and he chose this one. We had a lot of fun hearing about the adventures of the letters and the pop-up illustrations were especially fun.
