Stools and Bottles

Rate this book
This popular book provides thirty-one daily reminders on commonly encountered AA problems during an alcoholic's way of life. Stools and Bottles offers penetrating insights into the first four Steps from a well-known A.A. talk. The author, who also wrote The Little Red Book , describes a three-legged stool, the legs of which represents Steps One, Two, and Three. They support the seat, which symbolizes the alcoholic. An excellent aid to the daily application of the A.A. program. An old-time classic

This is an early piece of formally published literature about the first four steps of the Twelve Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous. After walking the reader through the first four steps with explanations, encouragement and advocacy, it has a thirty-one day plan. Each day has a reminder, daily inventory, suggested meditation, spiritual contact and daily physical audit. This is a no-nonsense but pleasant aid to anyone trying to get and stay sober.

This was the perfect little pocket book to refer to in times of quick need. I picked this up out of a free little library. I will read and reread

If you could give half stars, I really would have given this a 2 1/2. The first half of this book, I believe would have been better left as a conversation. I don't think that it translated well into a book. The daily meditations would probably be really good for someone within their first 30 days, if they could have such serious Big Book readings. I did however, like that they included the physical body's recovery in the daily meditations bu that was really the only highlight.

This book focuses on the first three steps of AA in a different light than the 12 and 12 and goes on to explain in more detail some of the more common character defects. It was extremely helpful in my recovery.
