Evangaline is not a very nice witch, but ask her if she cares. She does however have a healthy sexual appetite, and when an uncouth shifter starts appearing in her fantasies, it's not long before she makes her erotic mind play a reality. But everyone knows a wicked witch can't fall in love, or can she?
Ryker, a hot and muscled shifter, knows his size and domineering presence intimidates women, all except for one curvy witchhe just can't get out of his mind. Set to a task only the two of them can accomplish, he discoverswickedness has its uses, especially in the bedroom.
Dealing with vamps, a wedding from hell and a cackling gnome named Rumpelstiltskin, will these two wicked beings survive and, even more disturbing, decide to stay together?
Hello, my name is Eve Langlais and I am an International Bestselling author who loves to write hot romance, usually with werewolves, cyborgs or aliens .
I should warn you, I have a twisted imagination and a sarcastic sense of humor something I like to let loose in my writing. While well known for my shifter stories, I am also extremely partial to aliens, the kind who like to abduct humans and then drive them insane...with pleasure. Or do you like something a little darker, more serious? Then check out my cyborgs whose battle with humanity have captivated readers worldwide.
Adorably different! Loved it! My Rating: 4 Stars!.....
Since I was in the mood to read something Halloween/Autumn related, I chose "Wickedest Witch" by author Eve Langlais. Of course I can't go wrong with one of her paranormal books.
This wicked story features wicked witch Evangeline and sexy, domineering panther shifter, Ryker.
Evangeline is not a nice witch. In fact she thrives on being wicked. She is what I would call a no nonsense type. Unfortunately she doesn't have a great social life as a result of her attitude. Very few lasting boyfriends. Because of her reputation of being ruthless and vindictive, men are afraid to break up with her so they would rather just steer clear. Even if she is a beautiful, curvy witch. Evangeline has a reputation to uphold. It's why she is successful in her business. She is who she is and proud of it. Even it she is lonely.
Ryker was a great match for Evangeline. At first, he didn't like her much. But that changed. Ryker loved her sass; the fact she was independent and freely spoke her mind. Even when insulting him. When a job has them having to partner up, Evangeline is not shy about letting Ryker know she doesn't want to work with someone beneath her.
So as these two figure out how to work together; secretly they are attracted. Ryker is the first to crack. He can no longer deny that his wicked little witch was made for him. And when he realizes this, nothing stops him from going after want he wants from her, which is everything. Oh, Evangeline wants Ryker just as badly. Who wouldn't? Not only is he gorgeous and sexy, Evangeline soon finds she loves the banter between them. She loves that he is not afraid of her reputation for turning ex-boyfriends into nasty things. But of course, she fights the attraction.
By the end of this book I was smiling so much, my face hurt. This book not only had the perfect setting, tension, characters and a fun plot with likable secondary characters, it was silly and witty and all the things I look for in a romance. That said, I'll add that there is some suspense and mystery in this story but it is more entertaining than angsty.
So this is definitely a fun, steady-paced story to read when you're looking for quirky and romantic. It's fun to read anytime, actually.
Wickedest Witch By: Eve Langlais Narrated by: Abby Craden, Charles Carr The book I got had a cartoon character of a witch and described the story as a paranormal comedy romance. Well, I am not a prude. I don't mind a bit of sex with a story but when there really is very little story and all sex....ugh! If you are someone that likes only a little story with sex then this is for you! It literally couldn't go a full page without colorful reference to sex at least once! That reference was often long and detailed. So, I found it mind numbing and boring. Not humorous as advertised. Not romantic, just lustful. ( Not even good sexual scenes to be honest). Certainly not a cozy mystery or story I thought the cartoon cover would imply. This is the first book by this author and probably my last!
What do you get when you mix a sexy hot headed shape-shifter cat and a truly wicked witch? A dangerously steamy romance! I found this book full of humor and exciting to read. I have been reading a lot of short novellas lately and I have found all of them are really quick to read, but for some reason this went much slower and I don’t mean that in a bad way either, all I know is I enjoyed it and savored every bit.
Evangaline, is one very wicked witch, so wicked she turned her last lover into a rat and I wont mention what else she has done;) Ryker is huge hot shape shifter, some women see him and finds him so domineering they faint and that’s not good. When Ryker and his cat meets this wicked witch he just can’t resist this fireball especially when he sees all the curves she has without her glamour. When these two stubborn hot heads gets an assignment together there is nothing to stop the intense sexual tension that is between them. Just remember these two are stubborn so you get a good chase. Here is a good hint there is some hot sex in a car in this one;)
This book has so many fun witty passages. I just has to add a huge one I loved;) Evangaline waggled her fingers and … nothing happened. Frowning, she wiggled them again and pushed harder at her magic. Again, nada. The drunken idiot laughed. “Sorry, little witch. I’m protected against direct magic, being a shifter and all, but I promise I can still make lots of magic in the bedroom.” Figured the idiot with the crass pickup lines would be a bloody shifter and immune to her spells. Not really a problem, Evangaline had more than one trick up her sleeve. Hooking her foot around the bottom of the stool he’d perched on, she yanked it and dumped her would-be suitor on the floor. She also poured her glass of wine over him for good measure.
Oh, the hilarity! As always, one of my favorite components of Eve Langlais's books are her sassy characters who are in touch with their sexual sides and who don't mind causing a little carnage. This book doesn't disappoint!
Evangaline is happiest when she's being wicked. She doesn't mind leaving chaos in her wake and there aren't many things in this world that she's afraid of. She goes after the things she wants, for the most part. The one exception to that being her off-the-charts desire for one crude shapeshifter. Well... she does eventually go after him, but it takes a while for her to realize that denying herself his hardbody isn't doing either of them any favors.
And Ryker... he likes the sass that Evangaline dishes out. He likes that she's not afraid to stand up to him. He likes that she likes his bloodthirsty side. The two of them together steam up the sheets (or the front seat of the car or the hallway wall) something fierce. *thumbs up* to that!
Characters that get turned on when their partners spill blood, get a little growly, and turn people into grease stains do it for me. NO JOKE!
Evangeline owns and runs Wicked Incorporated where she does odd jobs for high priced fee. Evangeline knows she has a reputation as the wickedest witch and she relishes in it, it feels so good being bad. When Ryker, a cat shifter, comes on to Evangeline despite her reputation he doesn't realize he has just met his mate. Once Ryker realizes Evangeline is his mate he plans on making her his, but the prickly tempered witch has other ideas, she may deny it but the one thing she cant deny is the chemistry between them. Both have a reason to push each other a way but both find a reason why they are perfect for one another.
This was a fun read. Evangeline works hard at being wicked and Ryker is not put off by it, which leaves her a bit confused. I thought story flowed well and had a couple of twists that were pleasant surprises.
I didn't think I would like this when I started it, but I was procrastinating so I gave it a shot.
I LOVED IT.
I thought Evagaline's sass was written really well - in that you could tell that she stood up for her self, but went a little too far because of insecurities. I loved how those insecurities played out. I thought the pairing with Ryder was great and he was a really interesting character.
The suspenseful storyline also kept me interested. A lot of the times I endure the suspense but really I'm there for the romance. Here, I actually wanted to see how they would solve their problem and discover who the bad guy was.
I don't know if I've ever read this author before, but I'm going to be reading more of her now.
This book could definitely have been longer. However, I did enjoy the story. There is a whole lot of sex in the book. Not a problem but I just wish there had been more action besides that. There was an interesting plot but it became a side story to the amount of sex there was. A good story can stand alone without so much sex. Sorry it just bugs me when sex is overused to make a story more interesting. This book definitely had the potential to be a 5 star story. I just felt it needed more focus to be on the kidnapping plot. I mean if you took out every sex scene, what is left of the book? Overall, the story was enjoyable but needed more focus.
Another great little book from Eve Langlais. This time we are treated to a fun story about an evil witch, Evangeline, and a sexy panther shifter, Ryker, who team up as a security detail for Rumpelstiltskin's daughter. True to form, 'Wickedest Witch' is filled with sarcastic wit, ludicrous situations, and naughty fun.
One of the great things about Langlais's books is that although a lot of the stories have similar themes, she doesn't rely on a singular world that she's built (unless of course the books follow as part of a series). Instead, there's something fresh about each of the stories, and that's what keeps me coming back for more :)
Wickedest Witch was such a wickedly sexy read! I love Eve's writing style. Her characters always jump off the page. They are funny, sometimes snarky, and always sexy.
I wish this book had been longer. Evangeline, like most of Eve's heroines, was a riot. She's strong, self-sufficient, determined and the wickedest witch out there. What better way to balance out her spunkiness than with an against-the-grain, super sexy shifter who's bound and determined to snag the girl his cat knows to be their mate.
Another wild ride by Eve Langlais, a must-buy author for me. I hope she turns this into a series!
With such a short book--only 65 pages--I need to be pulled in almost immediately and I was not with this one. I don't know exactly what it was that irritated me--probably a combination of a few things--but I just know that it did.
It's not often that I don't finish books, but I just could not continue with Wickedest Witch. Many people have enjoyed WW, so like I said, I guess this one just was not my cuppa.
This was my 4th Eve Langlais book and like the others it's really entertaining, funny and hot.I loved the humor ,it had a lot of laugh out loud moments. I've been skimming the sex scenes in almost every book I'd read recently but I didn't in this one. The story wasn't strong ,it had a few holes and mistakes but it was such a fun book to read and I easily got over those. Perfect for a Sunday afternoon.
This one was ok for me. I liked the sarcasm, liked how Ryder and Eva had some great one-liners to each other, but otherwise it was a bit boring. Sort of the same thing over and over through out the book.
Thank you for engaging the services of Wicked Incorporated, where the insults are given for free. Evangeline is not a very nice witch, and she's not afraid to show it. Her ruthless nature comes in handy as a problem solver until she lands a job where she's forced to work with an uncouth shifter. He's rude, cocky, totally unsuitable, not to mention part animal, but despite it all, she can't help craving his touch. Ryker is big, bad, and brash. When he's partnered with a curvy witch, he does everything in his power to fight her allure. And fails. But he's not too disappointed as he discovers wickedness has its uses, especially in the bedroom. Vampires, a wedding from hell, and a cackling boss named Rumpelstiltskin, will these two wicked beings complete their job and admit, despite their stubborn nature, that they belong together? Heather's Notes Ryker and Evangeline got on my nerves as people. They were not really likable to start and while they did get better they will never be my favorite couple. However, the story did turn enjoyable. It may have been better if I had read it in order. I did not realize it was attached to some other stories that may have given this book some more depth. Still it was short and in the end I liked it more than I disliked Evangeline and Ryker.
This was a hilarious and fun read, with some hot scenes in between ;) I think I enjoyed it a lot more, because I listened to the audiobook and I loved the scenes read by male voice "actor", cause the voice had me laughing everytime :D
Anyway, the main characters are witch Evangeline and shapeshiffter (werepanther) Ryker. I think that it's enough to say that this story has kinda everything, from Rumpelstiltskin, Rasputin, shapeshiffters, witches, vampires, wizards, nimphes to Lucifer, king of hell, and his son.
For me, it was one of the "so bad it's good" pile of books. But don't get me wrong, it wasn't all bad :) As I said, it was fun, there was bantering between the main pair, the story was kinda interesting, there was a couple of sentences where I laughed out loud.
And the fact that Ryker shifts in black panther is a big plus :)
This author is a hit or miss for me. This one was sort of in the middle. Made me laugh a few times, the characters are unique. Evangeline is a wicked witch who doesn’t realize she wants to be loved, and Ryker is a big alpha panther shifter. So initially they have nothing in common except they're intensely attracted to each other physically. Even though they seem at odds and are completely different, for some reason they work well together, and so they end up falling in love. The kidnapping mystery was the weakest part of the book and could’ve been fleshed out better. We don’t really find out who the bad guy actually is. The family members were so funny, especially Ryker’s mother and Eva’s sister. The epilogue was cute and I really liked Rumpelstiltskin’s mating/wedding gift.
Wonderfully Wicked. With just a small touch of sweetness lol!!
I freaking loved this book. Loved it. I laughed so hard. I loved Evangeline and Ryker. What a perfect match. Evangeline is the wickedest witch there is. Ryker is a panther shifter. When the two of them meet sparks fly. Well that's not exactly true Ryker flies cause she takes his feet out from under him lol. When they get stuck doing a job together for Rumple they each try to deny the attraction building. What happens when the wickedest witch and the scariest panther come together? Well holy dark Lord you'll have to read and find out.
Not a lot of plot. A whole lot of sex. We never find out who the bad guy is or his motivation because ultimately he's a MacGuffin designed to give the two leads a chance to work together and get together. Mostly, it's just a book about two people having sex and that's about it.
3.5 stars Read this as my Halloween read. A hot romantic comedy. Quite fun but a bit light on storyline, while heavy on the romance. Rather too many typos for my preference.
Did Not Finish 39% mark These are mean, nasty people. Somewhat amusing, typical of Ms. Langlais Hell series. I didn't catch the "Hell" in the title until too late; while I like a lot of her writing, I don't like her Hell group.
It's COVID-19 time in 2020 when I read this - I was hoping for laughs, but I just can't handle the meanness buried in the humor right now.
This book is a dangerously addictive read! I was literally laughing out loud for the comedy parts! Very fast paced, easy read, and very naughty! :) Evangaline, is one very wicked witch, so wicked she turned her last lover into a rat and the rest I won’t spoil! Ryker is huge, hot, and a shape-shifter, some women see him and finds him so domineering they faint and that’s not good for relationships. When these two stubborn, hot head, and witty pair gets an assignment together there is nothing to stop the intense sexual tension that is between them. And I mean it’s soo soo hot I was fanning myself!
This was a great story! I really liked Eva (Evangaline) and Ryker as a couple. They start out at odds...Eva is a witch and Ryker is a cat shifter and the two races don't seem to mix a lot. At the beginning they find each other attractive but don't follow up on it. Then they end up getting hired for a protection job together and find they can't stay away from each other. Ryker surprised me a bit in his quick acceptance of Eva. I expected him push her away for longer than he did but he decides pretty quickly he wants to keep her. Part of it is the mating instinct but I think it was also partially because she doesn't fear him. He's such a bad ass that most women tend to be fearful of him but Eva stands up to him without a lick of fear which just turns Ryker on more. :)
Eva is scary in her own right and doesn't fear Ryker or much of anyone. She doesn't have the title "Wickedest Witch" for nothing. Her deeds are well known and tend make people's first reaction to her be one of fear so the two of them make quite a pair. Eva tried pushing Ryker away but she's also fighting herself. She doesn't want to want Ryker and isn't happy when she starts finding herself wanting stuff like cuddling together, sleeping in each other's arms all night and worst of all LOVE!?!?! She is uncomfortable with her growing feelings so she hides them (maybe hoping they'll go away?).
The ending was just great. I really liked how they accomplished their protection job and I also liked the way Eva handled things when Ryker's ex showed up. Good surprise at the end that led in to a nice epilogue. It's not a long story but it was well fleshed out and didn't feel short. I'll be rereading this in the future. It's a very good story that I'd recommend. ;)
Eve Langlais has done it again! She's combined the paranormal, humor, and a kick-ass heroine to bring you a very entertaining read. Eve had me hooked from the prologue and kept me turning pages until the end. Eve brings humor to a level that most authors dare not tread, leaving the reader in stitches and able to relate to her characters on a deeper level.
Evangaline is wicked indeed, with little remorse for ex-boyfriends she's turned into rats or oil splatters. She's tough as nails…on the outside anyway. When she's given a new assignment through Wicked Incorporated, she's ready for a challenge. Being assigned to work with the sexy alpha shifter wasn't in her plans. She's used to being alone and not good at working with others.
Ryker is hot, sexy and crude. He says what he feels and Evangaline, oddly enough, appreciates it. She can't help her desire for the stud of a man, even if he is a different species. Although she wants his body, she knows it can't lead to more than a quick romp. Then why does she see red when other women try and get too close to him?
The sex in this book is as wickedly hot as the heroine! Wow! When these two get together, the sheets burn up. I just loved the dialogue and banter between our two would-be lovers. Eve Langlais is on my must-read list and should be on yours, too!
My one complaint with this book is that it wasnt long enough...but not because the story was deficient, but because I'm stingy and I wanted more!
I have read one other book by Langlais and what I have found with both books was charming, funny and likable characters that ooze sex appeal. The females are not damsels in distress, they are ass kicking heroines who crave independence but, of course, they ultimately succumb to the delicious men who chase them.
I can't wait to meet the characters in her other books. I liked the first 2 books I have read by this author so much that I bought 5 others on fictionwise today! Yeah, they are that good!

You will always see a smile on my face after reading one of Eve Langlais books! Seriously I love her books. And Wickedest Witch had that exact effect on me.
Evangaline is a wicked witch. She is a take no crap from no one kinda girl. Her very first scene we find her in the middle of her then boyfriend breaking up with her for being to evil and not wanting to prove him wrong she turns him into a rat! I loved Evangaline she just had everything I love in a heroine. She was feisty, she could handle herself, she was funny and sarcastic and always spoke her mind.
Then there is Ryker! And lets just say he is added to my list of drool worthy men. He is a shifter and totally an alpha male. He can handle Evangaline and still kick some ass. He loved pushing her buttons and always had some witty thing to say. He is just yummy!!!
And together these two were amazing. I don't know how Eve packs so much in such few pages but I loved every minute of it. I was glued to each and every word. Wickedest Witch had me laughing and panting and wanting more!! This is a must read!
Evangeline and Ryker will put you in stiches. Ms. Langlais is not shy about her erotica. It's hot. I am not a fan of shifters in general, especially the cats but Ryker won me over. So shifter fans, give me credit for knowing when I have beeen wrong.
I was impressed with Evangeline's magical skills as well as her boldness. For such a short novel, I did not feel cheated on details about the magical community that Evageline and Ryker are a part of. Ryker's mom even makes an appearance with the intent of keeping Evangeline's hands off her son. Well, like everyone else, she learns that Evangeline does not let anyone tell her what to do. Ryker balances Evangeline well. The cast of characters is rounded out by several species and a wedding from hell -- literally. Making the story have a fairytale feel and ending.
I encourage romantics with a love of shifters and bold erotica to download this one. Again, it's not cheap for a novella but it's worth every dime.
I loved it! It was a really amazing read. If I could change anything, I would say the book was too short.
What can I say about it? I laughed it a lot, I was hot and I loved both characters. The book was really fast-paced with a great plot and world build.
Evangaline is a witch known for being evil. Once again she is being dumped by her boyfriend because she is too evil for him. Ryker is a shifter known for being hot headed and scary. After a family fiasco he decided that he needed to get drunk. When they both meet, their chemistry is astounding as is their dislike for each other's species. But fate play with them and they have to work together while avoiding each other.
If you like laughs with sex and a great HEA, this is the book for you!
