I liked this book. It’s half info, half stunning illustrations. It makes childhood look as magical as it is.
My biggest beef with this book, is when they mention “religion” and “sin nature” the author misrepresents the Christian view of sin nature, and has no mention of the gospel or what Christ has done for us (which is the whole point.) it’s always disappointing when an author can’t accurately represent the view they disagree with.
Some helpful things in here, lots I fundamentally disagree with as a Christian, though I expected that:)
(4.5 stars) Lots of interesting little tidbits on toddler development. Each page dealt with a different aspect of physical, emotional or intellectual development. I found it occasionally a little preachy about "good" parenting, but they photography is beautiful and it had some good stuff on how kids' brains work.
However, I really felt like Maddy does not fall into the average expectations for her age, and I'm not sure if that's a shortcoming of the book, or if Maddy's just different.
