This book has been on my shelf for a few years. After recently deciding to get back into design and development I dusted it off and cracked the spine. As with all friends of ED books it was a pleasure to read. The authors did a great job of explaining the topics and the examples were helpful. Learning to code by working on an actual project is extremely effective. With the release of HTML5 and CSS3 this book is a little dated. However, the foundation is still solid. The JavaScript chapter left a lot to be desired but other than that this is a good way to get started building websites.
