Against the Odds

Misty Fortune is a famous erotica author--a convincing one, too, despite her considerably more tepid real-life sexual experience. Worried that her extended dry spell is affecting her writing, Misty heads to a unique Las Vegas resort, one that promises to fulfill every sexual fantasy a guest could want. But an unexpected encounter with a gorgeous fire marshal has her thinking that a session with him would be hotter than anything the resort has to offer....Tucker Greywolf knew it was his lucky day when the Las Vegas police asked him to assist on a case involving an unusual hedonistic resort. But he never imagined he'd meet this lusty English writer--so teasingly prim and proper, yet so sexually adventurous--and offer his services! He figures four days helping Misty tap in to her erotic side during his stay in town would be the break he needs, but four days may not be nearly enough!

3 stars for mid-line contemporary romance from the Blaze series. It's a Harlequin, so it's very formulaic, and it's a Blaze, so the heat level is jalapeno.

A British ex-pat erotica author with a tepid sex life books herself a torrid Vegas vacation to get some hands-on experience and inspiration for her next novel. What she ends up finding is a New Mexico fire marshall assisting in the murder investigation of one of the Vegas resort guests. Their romance is clichéd but sweet. I particularly liked the way they teased each other about their cultures - she's a stiff lipped, upper crust royal and he's a Native American small town blue collar. But they work together well, and there were enough smile-worthy moments that I enjoyed. Well done.

Honestly, it's a Blaze title, it is exactly what I was looking for when selecting one of these books. Short, sweet romance, and lots of sexy scenes. If you're looking for a more sophisticated story a Blaze isn't it, but these sure are fun for a couple hour read.

Did not finish at 69%

Haha, 69.

But, no, between Misty's anime OC name and eyes, the cops letting a stranger look at their evidence because she's hot, and the amount of times Misty references non-white races as sexy (like her Native American Warrior Abduction package at the weird sex spa thing), I couldn't get into this.

After all the LI Romances, and authors like Kristan Higgins and Holly Jacobs....I found this (Harlequin), which I used to read all the time pretty cheesy.
