Ledger-

The mess that is my life started with one too many tequila shots.
Well, I guess you could say the disaster really started two years ago when I met Sterling Jacobson, my best friend’s older brother, for the first time. He’s off limits, someone I can never have. So why do I have to want him the most?
I really need to get him, and the night we shared out of my head. There’s no better way to do that than on a summer trip to Sicily with my best friend.
That was the plan until everything went sideways, leaving me stuck in one of the most romantic destinations in the world with the man I’m trying to get over. I can’t act on my desires again, no matter how badly I want to.

Sterling-

Even though Ledger is everything I’ve always wanted wrapped up in one tempting package, I kept myself at a distance and never acted on my emotions.
It was going well until one tequila-fueled night led to a drunken hook-up. It’s been weeks now, but I can’t seem to move past our night together. Not when it was only a small taste of what I’ve been craving for so long.
When I find out he’s going away to Italy for the summer, I’m relieved. As much as I don’t want him to go, I know it’s best for both of us to get some space.
But then my sister called, needing my help, and I had no choice but to board the next plane to Italy.
Now here I am, alone in Sicily with Ledger… what could possibly go wrong?

*Tequila Kisses is a low-angst, best friend's brother, MM Novel. It is recommended for an 18+ audience due to language and sexual situations.*

Bahahaha. That moment when you suddenly come across your own language in a book and your reading comes to a screeching halt.

“Heiß? Nein, Baby. Heiß ist, dich stöhnen zu hören, wenn ich dich mit meinem Schwanz ausfülle.” [Hot? No, baby. Hot is to hear you moan when I fill you up with my dick.]

It sounds right, but I’m not sure German men would actually say it like that *lmaooo But what do I know about stuff like that, right?

All in all this was a cute summer read, but also very predictable and therefore pretty lame. I must say, tho, that this was much more fun to read when I was sitting outside in the sun myself.

I’m not really getting why there is always in these romances such a big fuzz about the forbidden when it comes to the best-friend’s-brother trope, but maybe you can. And if you are into some hot sexy times and don’t mind following these two sightseeing around Sicily and doing all kinds of vacay stuff under the Italien sun than this might be for you. I was actually bored out of my mind. It was like looking at other people’s vacay photos *yawn

Objectively speaking I’d say this is easily a four-star read but it just so didn’t hit my tastes at all. And the epilogue really made me cringe.

So I was 100% influenced by my Instagram friends to read this book, and I'm so glad I was because I loved it! I guess I will have to read everything they recommend to me from now on.

I don't care how many times I read it - I will never get tired of the "Let's just fuck once to get this out of our systems then we can go back to normal" thing that happens in so many romance books. I love it, I chuckle to myself like, "haha bitches, yall about to fall in love"

So, the book wasn't perfect and I had a few minor things I didn't love about it, but I don't even care because I had such a fun time reading it. The entire book is set in Italy and the imagery and scenery is so beautiful it felt like being on vacation. I even read it out on my patio and made myself a margarita while I read.

So the last book I read was set in Spain, now this one in Italy - now I'm ready to have an entire summer vacation to Europe through books 😂

I turn around so fast I almost give myself whiplash, then take a moment to chew and swallow, eyes roaming over Ledger where he leans against the doorframe, looking hot as fuck in his work uniform. “I thought you had to work late?”

Why are guys leaning so hot? It’s a thing and it’s true. Guys, if you’re an 8, lean against anything and you become a 10.

Vacation home guest stories are so much fun since usually you have characters who are a little out of their element but feeling carefree so inhibitions and logical thinking go a little out the door and anything can happen.

Tequila Kisses was a cute no angst best friend's brother story.

Ledger and Sterling have been attracted to one another but never acted on it as Ledger is best friends with Sterling's sister, Abby. Sterling and Abby have a rule of not dating one another's friends. However, after a drunken hookup things have become awkward between the two. Despite pretending that has nothing happened, they are forced together again when Sterling flies to Italy in order to keep Ledger company after Abby has to leave. As they are forced to spend time together at the villa and sightseeing, things start to heat up again.

I found this story to be a light, fun, summery story (and a nice break from the darker stories I have been reading). I liked how they got to know one another during their time together in Italy. Despite being around each other due to Abby, they never really spend time together. They attend the same college but have a two year age gap. Their relationship moves fast, but because of chemistry and simmering attraction from before, I can see how being together on vacation can speed up the timeline.

The banter between them was funny at times. Ledger seems to be prickly on the outside but is a softie when it comes to Sterling. Despite the siblings' no "dating my friend" rule, Abby was supportive and felt terrible that she may have caused them to stress over their relationship. I liked how there was no big break-up or major conflict between the best friends. Overall it was a cute vacation love story. It made me want to travel and leave my cold city behind for some sunshine.

I always enjoy T. Ashleigh's stories and this one was no different! I look forward to what is next to come from them.

OMG I loved this story! Super sweet and cute and low angst but also did give me a bit of low key angst at the end 😩

The banter was frigging brilliant I mean who wouldn’t find “I love this ball sack snack” funny 😂

Ledger is a ledge with his quick wit and sassy come backs!! But Sterling sure knew how to put him his place or make him blush (swooooon)

The chemistry with these two was perfect, and although it was a holiday fling for only one week, it didn’t feel like that, plus they had been pining for each other for years so it flowed beautifully.

I just love T’s books, she gets you in the feels, but tops it with humour and chucks in amazing spice, you can’t help but love her work.

“You are anything but a sideliner. You could be the quietest person in the room and I’d still look at you.”

Awwww Tequila Kisses is the latest cute, romantic, low angst read from T. Ashleigh, just perfect for summer days and lazy Sundays!💙

Our MCs, Sterling and Ledger, fall in love against a back-drop of the Italian Lakes, following a hot, one-off hookup back at college after one tequila too many. Only one problem - Sterling is Ledger's best friend's (Abby - loved her!) older brother and he's not known for his long term relationships.

After Abby and Ledger's perfect holiday break to Italy is disrupted, Abby begs Sterling to step in to show Ledger the many sights and experiences that Italy has to offer. And yep, he surely does step up to the challenge....😉

If you love low angst, steamy, forced proximity, bestfriend's brother tropes with a guaranteed HEA, you're gonna love Tequila Kisses

I'm definitely in the minority, but this story bored me to pieces.

The setting is Sicily, but it might as well have been Boise, Idaho; it's like the author read a Wiki entry about "things to do in Sicily," but none of the distinct sounds or sights of Italy are present.

The MCs don't interact with any locals. Everything feels generic and scripted.

Ledger is annoying and rude. Sterling is marginally better, but their personalities are interchangeable. They have nothing in common except dick.

I started skimming at 5o% and rolled my eyes reading the epilogue. There's nothing original here.

“Nothing matters when he kisses me like I’m the only thing in the world he sees.”

Second read through on audio: the audio is 100% a must listen! The narrators did such a freaking amazing job and brought the humour and the steam through perfectly on this story! This definitely won’t be my last time reading this book. I loved it just as much the second time around!

Wow!! I absolutely loved Sterling and Ledger! This book had so much going for it as a best friends brother, summer fling, low-angst love story! This book had me hooked from the very first page and didn’t let me go! The banter and sexual tension between these two started at the very beginning and even though the main story took place in a short time frame because of their history together there wasn’t a single second that was not believable.

This romance is such a fun, lighthearted read. Sterling and Ledger have an amazing trip together and the whole thing is just about them having fun and learning what it means to fall in love with the perfect person for them! Their playfulness and chemistry was spot on and I never wanted this book to end! There were so many moments that made me laugh out loud because these two are hilarious together and I loved all the different pop culture references!

These two were so swoon-worthy and knew how to have fun together in every sense of the word. Their touristy days were fun but their discovery of each other bodies was also amazing. They got into some hot and heavy situations with one scene that will stay in my head forever as it was hot, beautiful and life-changing for them all at the same time!

Just because this is a low-angst love story does not mean that it was boring or always smooth-sailing or even seemed too easy for them. There were a few moments of indecision and worry but for the most part they were able to talk through things like adults and this story kept me entertained on every single page!

These two had such a beautiful HEA and it wasn’t really one I expected so it actually had me tearing up while reading. Make sure to read the bonus scene as we get just a little bit more of the characters we know and love with a few laughs, a few swoony moments and maybe even a few more happy tears!

I have read almost all of T Ashleigh’s books and this one ranks right up there with Betting You as my favourite book. I absolutely recommend this book and hope everyone gives it a chance whether you’ve read books by this author before or not as you will absolutely not be disappointed!

“Just sit back and enjoy the ride. I’m a motherfucking rollercoaster.”

Tequila Kisses, by T. Ashleigh, was an absolute delight. Not only was it sweet and sexy, it was freaking hilarious. One scene has to be one of the funniest scenes I’ve read in a long time—so damn funny. 🤗😂

Highlights:
🧡best friend’s brother
🧡summer fling turned more
🧡low angst
🧡yummy steam
🧡excellent humor
🧡all the feels

Ledger and Sterling are one of my favorite couples so far this year. I loved their interactions, and the humor in their relationship was the cherry on top of that delicious sundae. 🤗🤤 I love when a book is fun and flirty and this hit the spot!

Favorite quote:
“”Holy shit,” he whispers, and I just nod, agreeing with him. The chemistry we have would put soul mates to shame. I’ve never felt this kind of passion with anyone before, and the thought is really fucking terrifying and exciting all at the same time.”

Overall, loved this book so much! Will definitely reread this gem and recommend to anyone who loves romance, steam, and lots of laughs (you will have many with this book). 🧡🧡

Tropes:
- best friends brother
- summer fling
- mutual pining
- low angst

After vacation plans with his bestie fall through due to her getting the internship of her dreams, Ledger is left to his own devices in Sicily—or so he thinks.

Thanks to Abby, he and her older brother Sterling will be spending the next week and half together, touring the island while she’s away. This trip was supposed to help him clear his head and sort his feelings out for Sterling, but how can he do with the object of his desire under the same roof?!

Little does Ledger know that Sterling is equally as obsessed with him! The chemistry between these two is magnetic, and their snarky banter had me rolling. I loved them and their story so much!!

⭐️ 2.5 Disappointed Stars Rounded Up for Potential ⭐️

The dubious consent tag is for them having sex in the beginning while both being fairly drunk. They both remember it but not 100%

This was...alright.

It had potential. I liked Ledger and Sterling and they were cute at times.

But...this story kinda dragged for me. It was only around 240 pages but felt like it went on forever. I got to like 50% and was like....damn I have whole other half of this? I get to 70% and it's like...ugh still 30% to go? Even 10% left I'm like...get on with it, lets goooo.

And I could have DNF'ed, but...it had cute moments. I didn't dislike these two. The sex, at times, was hot. It takes a lot for me to DNF, honestly, and this just had the littlest bit of potential to keep me going.

Unfortunately, I probably could have DNF'ed and not really missed much.

This story just kind of meanders for the week they spend together in Italy while Ledger's best friend Abby - and Sterling's sister - is gone for a week in Rome for an important work thing.

It's like...they do some tourist-y things...it goes into detail about almost every single day and what they do and I'm sorry I just don't care about reading about them seeing the sights or whatever. It's super fun in reality but in a book that's supposed to be about the romance and not a tour of Italy, it's just...boring a lot of the time.

And unfortunately Ledger and Sterling together didn't make up for the boring plot. Like I said, they were cute and the potential was there, but it wasn't fire. The chemistry didn't leap off the page, I wasn't super invested in these two. The sex was hot at times, but other times, near the end, I just felt like skimming to get to the end of the book already.

I probably would have kept this at 3 stars, for the potential and cuteness and sometimes fun scenes between these two, but then the ending comes and I'm expecting Abby, the best friend and sister, to have some *things* to say about her best friend and brother being together.

Nope. It was too easy. She already knew there were feelings and was 100% supportive, so there was absolutely no drama and on top of an already boring plot that just made it more boring and disappointing!

And this came after we get next to nothing about Abby anyway. Like she's in the beginning, she leaves, and we hear NOTHING from her until 90% when she returns! Like Ledger texts her ONCE - only once, never another time that we see - and she doesn't even reply, or we don't get to see the reply and that's IT. She's brought up by these two a few times, but for the most part it's like she's forgotten.

It's like she's a convenient plot device to bring some tension - not a lot, though, honestly - and then when she could bring actual *drama* and story to this meandering plot, she brings nothing anyway.

It was SO disappointing.

So I went down to 2.5 stars instead of a solid 3 for that.

This gets point for some cuteness, for the potential of this being SO good being there, like Ledger and Sterling really could have been amazing together, I felt it several times throughout, but it just didn't connect.

It was just too boring and not enough was given to these two to make up for that. And not letting Abby be upset about them just ruined any potential tension that there was to begin with. Their HEA was cute, but too easy.

So...unfortunate. I really like this author and was like "oooh best friend's brother trope? Yes pls!" and then this author made this trope as boring as possible and that's just so sad. This trope has so much potential and it can be SO good and so fun and instead we got nothing from it.

Super unfortunate. Oh well, onto the next. I still can't wait for more from this author, this one was just, overall, a miss.

Re-read August 2023

Fluff fluff fluffer the fluff.

-------------------------------

Absolutely adorable!

I really liked this. It was sweet and cute and just a nice read overall.

There were two scenes that kind of missed its mark for me, but luckily the rest was really good.

The supposedly funny scene in the cable car had the potential to be either really funny or comforting with Sterling freaking out like that. But the author decided to do neither.
I would have Ledged totally make fun of the situation, or I would have him support Sterling and make it an emotional moment. Now it felt just awkward.

And the talk with at the end felt a little emotionless to me.

But besides these two little niggles this was super cute and I will definitely read it again.

Overall Opinion
This was yet another delightful read from T. Ashleigh and once again I loved every second of it! I do love a good best friend's brother romance and this was a great one! The setting for the book was so beautiful, I mean who wouldn't want to fall in love in Italy! The maturity level in the book was at the perfect level for the age of the characters and it felt very realistic. Sterling and Ledger were the absolute cutest and the pining for one another was delicious. Whilst it was a touch angsty at the end, it was still an overall low angst read and definitely one for the comfort read shelf! Overall this was another great write from T. Ashleigh and now I want more!

I can show you love. I’ll give you all the love. Every bit of it that I have. I just need you to be mine first.

Wow! Just freaking Wow! I feel like I have highlighted this entire book! And the funny thing is that this book doesn’t really have any of my favorite tropes…. 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

But you know what? Not of that really matters when you can write like T. Ashleigh can! Then who cares?

I mean, with a story as cute, sweet and fun as this one, what does it matter that I’m not really into the following:

💋 Best friend’s older brother
💋 Holiday setting
💋 Grumpy/sunshine vibes
💋 Upper-class segment

Because here’s what I love:

💋 Sterling & Ledger’s endless bickering and banter
💋 The word “baby” 🤭
💋 The fact that olive oil is not just for cooking or for salads
💋 The word “mine”
💋 Grand, romantic gestures involving sunsets
💋 Prosecco! And strawberries! And chocolate!
💋 Forced proximity and steamy, cute lurve
💋 Size Difference 🫠🫠
💋 Good guy vibes: I freaking love Sterling 🤤🤤
💋 Sexy talk in German! For a German major this was just a blast 🤣🤣 Ich liebe es wenn die Protagonisten mit so einem dreckigen Mund sprechen 🥵

This book was just everything I needed this weekend. If you like Cora Rose and Nicole Dykes, you need to add this book to your TBR like Yesterday!

So, here we go:
Plot: 🍹🍹🍹🍹🍹
Steam: 💋💋💋
Angst: can you spell Z-E-R-O?
Swoon: 🫠🫠🫠🫠

Bonus points: Thank God that there aren’t any annoying miscommunication or 75% break up! We don’t need it, you guys! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻

I can’t wait to read more from this amazing author, which I have now allerted to the fact that I’m gonna stalk her on IG - and just for future reference, she has agreed that she’s okay with that! She might have wanted to check with Cora or Nicole first though🤭🤭😇

3.5 stars. This was a sweet, breezy vacation-type read about falling for your best friend's brother. Ledger goes to Sicily on the holiday of a lifetime with his best friend, but when she unexpectedly has to be somewhere else, she enlists her hot brother, Sterling, to show him around. The two of them have a fun, bantery, quarrelsome relationship which is just a mask for all the sexual tension. It was very cute, and hot in places (but also there was a lot of fade-to-black, which I personally don't love), plus the setting was great. All-in-all a pleasant, low-commitment read.

Comforting and steamy

Not only was this a romance novel, it was also a list of fun ideas to do in Sicily 👀. When I can afford to go one day lol.

Ledger and Sterling were made for each other. I actually think this was pretty realistic of their ages and behaviors (seniors in university). I did think it got a little tedious with the back and forth banter in the beginning where Ledgers response to anything Sterling says is “No I’m not” or “No I didn’t” or something along those lines.

Everything else was so comforting to read. I loved how there was only love and support from the sister/friend, Abby, and the guys were mature enough to figure things out on their own.

Sigh 🥰🥰

Ledger is best friends with Abby. 21 and gay, 1 year left in college. Her annoyingly hot brother who banters with him all the time is off-limits. But one night after a bit too much tequila, Ledger jumps Sterling. They have a hot night and Ledger sneaks out the next morning, not sure if Sterling remembers what they did. A few weeks later, Ledger is taking a month long vacation with Abby. Except last minute Abby has to duck out for a week or so for a work. She doesn't want him all alone in a country where he doesn't know the language, so she has Sterling come join the trip.

Sterling does remember their night. He's actually been falling in love with Ledger ever since they met two years ago. Sterling is 22, bi, and just graduated. Sterling can't be near Ledger and not address the elephant in the room. He insists they talk and they both admit they are intensely attracted to each other and obsessing over the night. Sterling tackles Ledger this time. They try to play it cool and make it about getting this out of their systems but they're lying to themselves and very poorly. It's more than physical for both of them. But Ledger is worried about messing things up with Abby.

They spend a week have a great vacation, sightseeing, talking, spending their nights together and snuggling. I did enjoy the snuggles and the tender shared showers and their inner monologues as they can't deny the lovey-dovey thoughts that pop into their heads.

I really liked this book. There was good steam, there was a realistic and natural development of feelings over time, they were nice guys and you can see them having a future together. There was banter, tension, humor. I liked that they actually communicated. Yeah they didn't wear their heart on their sleeves at the start because they are young and didn't want to make themselves emotionally vulnerable when it's early, but even then they prioritized talking. There were multiple moments where they had good communication and straight talk. I appreciate that in a book. If I had to say one negative thing, it would be that there's a lot of schmoopy moments because they are having this picture perfect couple vacation, there's a wee bit of fromage thrown in there, LOL.

Some notable moments:

"His cheeks flush, and he tosses the socks on his dresser. “What do you want me to say?” “Anything? Tell me anything,” I practically beg. “Did you like it? Are you feeling as messed up and twisted around as I am inside? Do you think about it at all? Like on a loop, constantly playing in your head and you can’t escape from it? Or is it the other way for you? Did you hate it? Do you wish it’d never happened? Are you avoiding me because you feel bad? Just tell me! I need to know what’s going on in your head.” My chest is heaving by the end of my spiel, and I wait for him to speak. For him to tear my world wide open with his next words. “I was drunk…” he trails off, and I can feel the anger bubbling up inside of me at his words. “That’s a total fucking cop-out.”"

"My fragile control snaps and I advance on him. His eyes are wide and owl-like but I don’t stop. I keep advancing until I reach him, then I lift him and set him on top of the dresser before slamming my mouth to his. He releases a moan and I shove my tongue past his lips, wanting to get as deep as possible to taste him. He tastes better than I remember. I wish I could take this slow and savor him in a way he deserves, but honestly, that’s not something I can do right now. Especially when I’m this keyed up."

"I can show you love. I’ll give you all the love. Every bit of it that I have. I just need you to be mine first."

"“Your mouth,” I growl, reaching forward and dragging my fingers across his lips. “I don’t know if I wanna marry it or stuff it full of my cock.”"

Sometimes I’m in the mood for dark, angsty drama… sometimes I need couples that are too cute for words, actually like each other, and have lots of (clothed and n@ked) fun.

At first, I was enjoying this story, I found Ledger a little annoying but I was liking Sterling and I wanted to see what would have happened between them.

But after their first trip around Sicily, I had to close the book and put it aside. I'm genuinely curious: did the author do a little research about Sicily at all? Or did she just googled "amazing places in Sicily"?

I don't want to disrespect the author's work, but I need to clarify some things:
Ledger and Abby landed in Palermo, we don't know where the villa is, but maybe in the sourroundings.
Ledger and Sterling go to Taormina and, from what the author wrote, it seemed that they went with cable car: wrong, cable car connects Taormina to the marina, not Taormina to other cities; to go from Palermo to Taormina you have to take a 4 hours drive. Then they are in Erice (San Giuliano Church), a beautiful city near Palermo; so maybe they took the 4 hours drive back (in one morning!).
At some point, Sterling says to Ledger: do you see the Salt Pans? But they're in Trapani! Another 30 minutes drive from Erice, how could they have seen them? Then, After taking the cable car back down..., but from where? They also have the time to buy pizza for dinner. All of it in one day, I cannot believe how wrong all of it was.
And lastly, where are italian people? No interaction with them at all.

Sorry, but this approximation and carelessness ruined the story for me.

the ☀perfect☀ summer vacation vibes in a book!!👏 this story is sweet & hilarious with the perfect amount of hotness🔥☀
& tbh i knew i'd love this book bc i'm obsessed with T. Ashleigh's writing style so no wonder i devoured this🥰

some of my chaotic thoughts i took note of while reading:
-- icing spatula 💀💀💀
-- boy bands!! one direction!!! also they're not broken up, just taking a break, okay😭
-- hot choco is thick yes!! & not a pudding, Ledger😤😆
-- (   ) )💨 iykyk💀
-- from a European perspective it was fun to read about them exploring Italy

I drop everything, including my towel, to the ground. Well, not the wine. Can’t waste a perfectly good bottle. That’s alcohol abuse.

Sweet!

This was a sweet, romantic, low angst read. I really loved Sterling, he was such a good, carefree, laid back guy that was the perfect balance to Ledger. I so enjoyed their time in Italy where they really got to know each other while they explored so many fabulous places, they laughed, they ate, they drank, and they were just so happy to be together. Their dialogue and back and forth ribbing of each other was a lot of fun too. There smexy times were really hot when they first connected and then really tender as their feelings grew. I would have liked a little more showing of their relationship prior to the hookup and week in Italy though. It was discussed how they had this connection for years but we didn't really get to see any of that piece or their first time together, which I missed. The resolution and wrap up of everything also felt very rushed to me. I did love the epilogue though. It was nice to get a glimpse of them a little farther into the future. Overall a light, fluffy, sweet read.

I read a previous short story by this author and loved it. But, as I was reading this particular story, l became increasingly bored (unfortunately) the further I got.

Just a little personal annoyance I had was the "valley girl" attitude of Ledger. His character wasn’t really working for me. Also, I found it odd that he works as a server, yet didn't know the difference between a cake spatula and a knife?

Sterling, also wasn’t really doing anything for me. Him basically being a gym addict, but also having Taco Bell twice a week just wasn’t information that held my attention.

I only made it to the 25% mark and skimmed some reviews to see if I would want to continue. But, I just think this book is too fluffy for my particular tastes. For the right audience and mood, I’m positive this book is perfect. But, it’s not for me.

If you love a whole heap of sweet mixed in with your sass then you’ll love Ledger and Sterling. They have this insane chemistry but it’s a bit of a no no - you can’t touch the sisters bestie after all. Oh but then the tequila happened, and the making out happened and the waking up after a wild night happened. All things they can both sweep under the rug sure, but a little forced proximity whilst on vacation and it’s hard for them to deny. I loved both characters so much, both of them have this really easy personality and it translated into their relationship. Their story is low drama and low angst because they’re just that cool and easy going about it all. Tequila Kisses is sunshine, sweetness and letting your heart guide the way.

I started this book thinking it was a book full of drunk guys with a lot of fun parties, but it had nothing to do with it, this book was a soft romance book, it was nice, but that's not what I wanted
