‘EDINBURGH IS NOT A QUIET FRIENDLY PLACE — THERE ARE ALL KINDS OF WICKEDNESS HERE’

Cameron Kyle warned Rose Barbour when she arrived in the city. And, indeed, as companion to Miss Jean Brodie, she found herself caught up in a world of shadows and mystery.

There was the sinister yet exciting Deacon Brodie, respected citizen by day — but what “business” took him out after dark? Where did he go?

Why did Rose have to bolt her door against the rustlings and whisperings each night?

She longed to ask so many questions — about the Brodies, and about her own past, but most of all about the handsome Mr Cameron Kyle. What was his secret? Why should he be lurking in the Royal Mile all dressed in black?
