DOUBLE TROUBLE
Faith Aldridge wants answers. Bramble, Texas is the only place she can find them . . . as well as Hope, the identical twin sister she never knew she had. But the townsfolk reckon that shy city-girl Faith is really her long-lost sister Hope, back in Bramble at last. And they're fixin' to do whatever it takes to heat things up between her and Hope's long-time flame, Slate Calhoun. If that means rustling her car, spreading rumors like wildfire, and reining in some explosive secrets, well, there's no way like the Lone Star way . . .
But Slate's no fool. The woman in his truck may look like Hope, yet the way she feels in his arms is altogether new. He's determined to keep this twin in his bed and out of his heart. Trouble is, the real Hope is headed home, and she's got her own designs on Slate. If Faith wants to avoid heartbreak, she'll have to show a certain ruggedly handsome cowboy that this crazy-impossible love is worth fighting for.

Faith goes to Bramble TX looking for a twin she never knew she had. What she finds is a case of mistaken identity, a smokin' hot cowboy, who tries everything to seduce her, a small town full of quirky busybodies, said busybodies refuse to believe she is Faith and not her twin, which causes a ruckus and a dog named Buster, she almost accidentally kills, well, almost on a daily basis.

Being TEXAS born and bred myself, I was cringing at some of the satirical stereotypes of a small Texas town, but once I got into the first couple of chapters I couldn't help but laugh along with the story, especially when I admit I've come in contact with some of those type people.

This is a fast paced, great book with humor, emotions, comedy and just enough steam to make me catch my breath and get a little tingly, but not fall in the erotic category (not bashing erotic, cause all my friends know I lurrvvvv me some steamy, erotic stories).

Actually, I LOVE the way the intimate scenes are written, because they did make me catch my breath without being erotic, don't get me wrong they are descriptive, just not "boom, chicka, wow-wow" descriptive. As a reference, here are non-erotic authors who are great at writing books with what I consider "catch my breath" intimate moments, Jill Shalvis, Toni Blake, Robin Kaye, Christie Craig, Carly Phillips, Rachel Gibson, Susan Mallery. The best erotic author with "catch my breath" moments is Lorelei James, who just happens to be my all time favorite author, period.

Katie Lane is not only a new author for me, this is her debut book, and I look forward to book two, Make Mine A Bady Boy, Hope's story to be released June 1, 2011.

p.s. my definition of a "catch my breath" moment - it's one where the H grabs, looks, says, does something that leads up to an intimate moment, which is written so well it just makes my heart jump and me catch my breath.

"If you think my truck is big..." (bumper sticker on Bubba's pickup)

Going Cowboy Crazy is Katie Lane's cheeky debut novel about life in a small Texas town...and she has hit the ground running. Her style is a mish-mash of Susan Elizabeth Phillips (quirky but loveable secondary characters), Rachel Gibson (believable romance between two polar opposites) and Vicki Lewis Thompson (sexy, swaggering, modern-day cowboys). This is one of the sweetest books I've read in a long time and was just what I needed to pull me up from the literary doldrums I've been wallowing in lately...having no one to blame but myself for the slew of angst-ridden books I've been reading.

Faith Aldridge is on a mission. The demure, introverted woman from Chicago received the most unsettling news from her mother on her death bed...she has a twin sister. So Faith makes the trek across country to the small town of Bramble, Texas to, hopefully, meet her sister, Hope. Upon her arrival, Faith stops at what looks to be the local watering hole, but before she can open her mouth to ask after Hope, the townsfolk swoop down on her with kisses, hugs and adoration for their favorite hometown girl who is back from making it big in Hollywood. And they are gonna make damn sure she does things right this time by getting hitched to her high school sweetheart, Slate Calhoun.

Faith is overwhelmed by everyone's reaction and Slate, who knows instantly that Faith is not Hope, comes to her rescue. That's right, darlin. The big, strapping hunk o' cowboy with the rock-hard abs and sexy bedroom eyes becomes her champion of sorts...and he two-steps her right into bed in almost no time flat! (Of course, this is after she has no choice but to go along with the farce and do what Hope would do...slam down a number of tequila shooters.)

When Faith learns she has slept with her sister's "boyfriend", she wants to hi-tail it out of Bramble but her damn car has been impounded and nobody will tell her where it is. Resigned to her fate, Faith "adopts" Hope's identity and is soon practicing her southern drawl as well as her line-dancing. And somewhere along the way, she falls in love with the man the good people of Bramble have earmarked for her...er... for her sister. Uh-oh...look who's really back in town!

I can't recommend this book enough to someone looking for a "pick-me-up" read that will actually have you laughing out loud one minute and sighing "awww, that is so sweet" the next. For maximum enjoyment, listen to the audio book if you can. The narrator, Nicole Poole, gives voice to an entire town of rednecks so well you will think you've been plucked out of your cozy reading cubby and dropped dead center into the town of Bramble, Texas...wearing your big hair, skin-tight jeans and shit-stompin' cowboy boots! Ride 'em, cowgirl!

5 impressive stars!

Such a fun read, I enjoyed it from beginning to end! I couldn't put it down, even though I was forced to because of other obligations, I would make an excuse so I could go read a chapter. I just loved all the crazy characters and Slate was sooo sexy, I just wanted him to be himself sometimes and show his temper, but he stayed so in control.

The story was a little farfetched, but I still loved it. It was about a set of twin girls who were separated at birth and they don't know about each other. So once Faith, the heroine, finds out about her sister, Hope, she heads to Bramble, Texas, in search of her, but Hope has set her dreams on Hollywood and has been gone for 5 years. What Faith finds is a bunch of delusional, crazy town people who think she is Hope and that the sweetheart of Bramble, which is Hope, has finally returned to marry the hometown football hero, Slate. Slate and Hope were best friends in high school and sometimes boyfriend/girlfriend, but more they just played along and gave the town what they wanted- a fairy tale romance. That all changes once Slate sees Faith and knows instantly she isn't his long time friend. Faith tries to tell the truth, but the town won't believe her and forces her and Slate together and there is some sexy combustion when they connect.

The story was fast moving with all its craziness and I liked how the author made Faith and Hope complete opposites on the personality spectrum, Faith- sweet and vulnerable and Hope- sassy and feisty. It was believable and yet when they each let their guards down they showed a lot of similarities too. Slate was my kind of hero, an athlete and a cowboy, double jackpot!! My only wish was that

I am looking forward to reading Hope's story in the next book.

Quite a few tmes I found myself shaking my head and saying 'really, 'honestly' and 'you're kidding' - it was totally unbelievable that so many people could be as stupid as those who live in the town. There were a few comical scenes that made me chuckle so all in all a nice read but not one that is outstanding.

Full review coming, but I LOVED this great West Texas romance.

My Review:
Being a Texas gal at heart, this book had all the things that my TX heart loves...sexy cowboys, rough & tumble trucks, Friday night football, and a great honky tonk.

Faith came to Bramble, TX looking for her twin sister, Hope. She just found out about her at the age of 30. What she finds instead is an entire family that she didn't know about, a town that takes her into it's embrace refusing to believe that she's not Hope, and Slate, the town's high school football coach who wants to embrace her in an entirely different way-- and NO Hope!

Faith was raised in Chicago by her very conservative adoptive parents. She didn't know until they were both dead that she was adopted and had a twin, Hope. Nothing in her life has prepared her for life in Bramble, but she quickly finds herself adjusting and feeling more at home. Unfortunately, that's just about the time that Hope shows up and not so happy to find out that she has a long-lost twin in Faith.

Faith starts out this book as a quiet, meek little thing, but as the book progresses, you get to see her develop into her more natural self that she has kept hidden her entire life. She's more like her wild twin, Hope, than even she would have guessed. It was fun to watch her become more assertive and self-assured.

Slate is from Bramble. He was the high school football hero and best friend to Hope. They were inseparable during their school days, but it never went beyond friendship no matter how many times they tried. Now he's back as the high school coach and floundering after 4 seasons of NOT being state champs- NOT acceptable in Texas football.

Slate has his own developing that he does in this book. A lot of this is done with the teenager, Austin. I loved this aspect of the story line. Austin is a 16 yo with a chip on his shoulder after being forced to move to Bramble, but he offers an amazing perspective and a fresh twist to the story. I loved all of the scenes in this book that included Austin- really heartwarming and honest!

Slate & Faith are absolutely perfect together, but they are living in a crazy little town full of quirky, funny characters. Highly entertaining doesn't even begin to touch how fun it is to read their story. You know that love is going to eventually win out, but it's a crazy ride to get there through honky tonics, homecoming parades, football games, disappearing cars, hot locker rooms, family reunions, and, oh yeah, a town-planned wedding. You just have to laugh along with it.

There is a lot of emotional trauma happening in this book with the family aspect, but I really enjoyed the way that Katie wrote it. It's completely believable and natural. This is a new author (her first book) and she is definitely on to watch for...a great first book and the good news is that we only have to wait a couple more months until Hope's book is out. From the teaser at the end of this one, it promises to be a good one!

Going Cowboy Crazy is a sensational debut from author Katie Lane- smart, funny and sexy!

When Faith Aldridge’s mom reveals a shocking secret, the shy and sheltered thirty-year-old sets out on a road trip to find the identical twin sister she never knew she had. Her adventure starts in the small town of Bramble, Texas, where the townsfolk mistake her for her sister and town’s sweetheart, Hope, and no amount of denials will change their mind. But the sexy golden cowboy and the towns favorite quarterback, Slate Calhoun, knows the difference between these twin’s kisses and Hope’s have never knocked him off his feet like Faith’s do. With the town set on Slate and ‘Hope’ tying the knot they will do anything to keep Faith in town, which plays into Slate’s plans of keeping her in his bed. But when the real Hope shows up accepting marriage to Slate will he be able to convince Faith that she’s the twin he wants? Or will it be too late by the time Faith finally puts her trust in him?

I really loved this one; it's like Sweet Home Alabama meets The Parent Trap, except with a smokin' hot cowboy who knows how to work it!

Lane has developed a fantastic couple in Slate and Faith. I love how the whole town is involved in the story and a real pushing point for their relationship, even if they do think Faith is someone else. And the side characters are just as memorable as the main. Slate and Faith’s attraction grew beautifully into a relationship that was sigh-worthy and believable. And the growth in each of their characters was really well written. There was nothing that I didn’t like about these main characters.
Going Cowboy Crazy has a fun and fast-paced plot with plenty of good humor and some seriously sexy scenes, the up and down emotions between Slate and Faith took my heart on a thrilling ride.
The busy body townsfolk’s were hilarious; trying their hardest to get Slate and whom they thought was Hope together. I would die in some of the situations they found themselves in and sympathized with the character’s frustration over the lack of privacy, but everyone’s commitment to the community and their citizens is so heart warming and I love their enthusiasm, especially when it comes to football.
An amazing read and I hope to read much more from this new author, Katie Lane.

It's a well written, very entertaining, small town story.

I like Katie Lane's writing style and crowded secondary characters, vivid scenes and dialogs she picturized. I should add, romance part was not one of the best part I liked, well I liked but not much as I expected. Though, it was better most of the other CR books, I've read. Importatn things is, there was a solid plot and a very good story development. I was content to read a good CR book.

First in the series Deep in the Heart of Texas by Katie Lane. A fun but somewhat far fetched contemporary romance. Being a fellow Texan I could relate to some of the antics. Their stereotypical love of football and egos as big as the state itself. Yes, I can relate. Faith's reactions and those of her family didn't ring all that true with me but it was still a fun witty read

I really enjoyed this book.

It was a perfect oleo of spicy romance, small town Texas humor, and twins separated at birth. I mean seriously, if you told me all this I would almost have to hate it on principle, but it was just so much fun.

I had a bumpy ride with this book. I love small town romances, the simplicity of the people, the close knit feeling, so this book seemed right up my alley. I started off with great expectations. I follow Faith as she moves into Bramble, and gets mistaken for somebody else. It's so obvious; people call her 'Hope' and welcome her with open arms, and what does she do? What would any sane woman do? Clear up the confusion. But no! Faith is 'too stunned' to react initially (hello??!! didn't you come here looking for your twin in the first place?), then she feels she will get more info about her sister if she pretends to be her sister (eye-roll moments start), so she plays along. Sure, to give her credit, she does try to be 'Faith' a few times, but everybody in Bramble seems to have bumped their heads as children, and cannot quite understand what she means when she says she calls herself 'Faith'.

And the assumptions! I've never come across a more moronic bunch of idiots. This is not small town simpletonism, Ms Lane. This is moronism at its very best. They persist in the idea that Faith is Hope till the very end, and most of the plot revolves around this conviction.

Slate, the football coach, is better characterized than Faith. We never get to see the elusive 'Bubba', thankfully. I never understood the need to keep everyday things as some kind of national secrets. Slate is staying in Bubba's truck and using Bubba's giant, ego-stroking hick car. He can see Faith making all kinds of assumptions based on the car and the broken down trailer, and he never puts her right? Really? If he'd done that to me, the first thing he'd have sported was a shiner. The list goes on.

I liked Austin, though. Cute kid, and after almost DNFing the book several times, I doggedly returned more for the interactions between Faith-Austin, or Slate-Austin, than anything else. Also, there are moments of unexpected humour which kept me from DNFing.

So here's my view of the story. Faith comes looking for her sister (spoiler alert), realizes that she was the adopted one, not her twin [as her mother led her to believe on her death bed(!)], finds her biological parents who welcome her with open arms, a posse of siblings, and what does she do? Here's the summary:

Jenna (Faith's newfound mother): Faith, darlin', baby, you came back!
Faith: Huh?
Jenna: Oh B and I gave you away because twins, you know. We were not married, in a small town. That would be really shameful. Having one baby is somehow right, so we gave you away.
Faith: So you gave me away? You don't love me anyway! You never loved me. I have to go find my sister.
Jenna: Stay with us a few days, till Hope calls.
Faith: I'd rather stay with Slate in Bubba's trailer and neck with him in Bubba's truck. But okay, staying with you would give me an opportunity to be there when Hope calls, since nobody has her number, not even you. So I'll put up with you.
Jenna: My baby!
Faith: But I am still gonna go look for Hope, because she is my twin. I don't care that I found my parents and other siblings; the only person I really want to connect with is my twin. I know I will love her, and I desperately want her to love me back, even though I am pretending to be her to the entire townsfolk, making up stories of how she had some girl action in a ladies in Hollywood, and having sex with her boyfriend. (end of spoiler)

Yeah? Really? My eyes were aching from all the rolling by this time.

I need to go read something completely different now, to get the taste out of my mouth. Maybe some Aristotle?

The first half was fun. The last half was thrown together with stupid assumptions.

REVIEWER’S OPINION:
I was angry and felt the author wasted my time with stupid reasons for fights and conflicts between the couple.

They are falling in love. She plans to leave soon to return to her job in Chicago. So when he wants to talk and take her to the dance, she says no she has another date. He’s angry and leaves. She didn’t have a date. She found one later. She had decided that she and Slate “were not compatible because his life was here and her life was back in Chicago.”

Later the big separation (where she leaves town and grieves over losing him) wasn’t because she lost him. She made some inaccurate assumptions about him and left town. She didn’t even ask him if those things were true – which they were not. And later when they do talk, he lies and says he has no feelings for her – which was not true.

This is not a story. This is not an interesting plot.

But I did enjoy the first half – the getting to know you and lust. He and she were interesting characters. The townspeople were kind of fun to watch as they did stupid things to get the couple together. The locals kept thinking Faith was Hope even when told she wasn’t.

STORY BRIEF:
Faith and Hope were separated at birth and raised by different families. They are now 30. Faith’s parents died. She recently learned she was adopted and has a twin sister. She travels to Bramble, Texas (a small town) to meet Hope. She learns that Hope left town five years ago for Hollywood. Hope’s former boyfriend Slate recognizes that Faith is not Hope. They get to know each other while Faith waits to get an address for Hope. Meanwhile the locals think she is Hope and play matchmaker. They want Hope to stay in town and marry Slate.

Slate was a high school football star and is now the high school football coach. He was never interested in the women he met, so he pretended that he was pining for Hope and waiting for her to return. It was a way to keep the matchmaking mothers off his case. So now the locals have an excuse for their heavy handed matchmaking attempts to keep Faith (whom they think is Hope) in town for Slate.

DATA:
Story length: 345 pages. Swearing language: strong, including religious swear words. Sexual language: mild. Number of sex scenes: 5. Estimated number of sex scene pages: 13. Setting: current day mostly Bramble, Texas. Copyright: 2011. Genre: contemporary romance.

As I have a deep-seated fascination with cowboys (and guys in tight jeans and a cowboy hat!), this book cover and title caught my eye. I went to very few of the publisher signings during the 2011 RWA National conference, but I found myself walking through the Grand Central signing as I had a couple of friends signing. As soon as I saw this book displayed I headed for Katie Lane's table.

I don't know Katie and had never read anything by her. (She has another book out that I also picked up and read.)Once of the great things about these booksignings is the opportunity to pick up books by new authors, or at least an author new to you. In this case, it was both...she's a new author and she's new to me.

The setting is a small town in Texas. Lots of interesting secondary characters. Lots of secondary characters who make it their business to stick their collective noses into everyone else's business!

Adoptee Faith Aldridge, comes to Bramble, Texas looking for her twin sister, a twin she discovered only when her adopted mother confesses on her death bed. The townsfolk immediately assume Faith is her sister, Hope, who has finally returned home from California. The only person who knows this isn't Hope is Slate Calhoun...Hope's high school boyfriend, now the high school football coach. Hope's kisses never lit a fire in him like this imposter Hope does.

I really loved this book. Slate temporary home (a hunting trailer...and if you're from the south, you KNOW how bad those can be) is believed by Faith to be where he really lives. The scenes there brought many chuckles from me.

Faith gets more than she bargined for in Bramble. She learns secrets she isn't sure she can handle.

Slate finds his hands full with Faith and a town full of "helpful" folks who begin planning his wedding to "Hope" (now that she's home again)...except it's not Hope he's fallen for, it's Faith but nobody believes she's not Hope. Sounds confusing, but it's not.

As soon as I finished this book, I grabbed up the author's second book in the series. I'm sad to say I have to wait until next year for the third book. Write faster, Ms. Lane!

GOING COWBOY CRAZY is a very fun book! I love the characters and the whole premise of the story. Faith Aldridge, having recently learned that she has a twin sister, travels to a small town in Texas to meet her. She shows up and the whole town mistakes her for her sister, who lives in Hollywood. I loved how everyone in Bramble treats her from the beginning. One person tells her her short hair (which is very different from her sister’s extra long locks) is “kinda cute in a short, ugly kinda way.” Others question her attitude, but no one will believe that she isn’t Hope - except for Slate. From the moment their lips touch he was sure that she wasn’t Hope. I loved that although they looked the same he could tell the difference. Their courtship is one hilarious episode after another. I was enchanted by the community Ms. Lane built to surround Slate and Faith. From their matchmaking attempts to planning the wedding without Slate or Faith knowing, the community is an important part of this story. This is a great contemporary romance with memorable characters and a fantastic couple. This is an author I will be looking forward to reading more from.

Spoiler Ahead This was a good book that was at times funny also. Faith Aldridge is a computer nerd who grew up in Chicago goes to Bramble, Texas looking for her long lost twin sister named Hope that she learned about when her mother died. When the people of the town see Faith they think that Hope has returned home to be with her long-time flame, Slate Calhoun, and the "Faith" is her screen name. Everyone in Bramble, including Sheriff Winslow, plans to do all they can to heat things up between her and Slate including impounding her car to keep her in town. The people don't believe that she is not Hope except Slate. Faith may look like Hope, but the way she feels in his arms is altogether new for Slate. Slate and Hope have been close friends since he was thirteen, but they have never felt passion for each other. What Slate feels for Faith is explosive. I really liked both of the MC in this book Faith was nerdy and obsessive with cleaning and hygiene. This was my first time reading this authors work this book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series Hope.

I really enjoyed this book. There were a few laugh out loud moments - specially when Faith was dealing with the dog! Football is a big deal in Texas and it was funny how the whole town was telling Slate things. Shows that twins can be very different but yet be the same in some ways. Can't wait to read the next one.

I liked the book okay, but I did not feel like it had as much emotion as it had potential for. I mean, this girl,Faith, was the twin that was given away at birth while her identical twin was raised as the beautiful feisty princess of the Texas town her parents lived in. Granted, the parents had not known it was twins when they made the commitment to give a baby up for adoption, but seriously, they gave ONE away and kept the screaming sister becuase she would survive teen parents better?! I totally did not believe that the h could forgive that family so easily. That was way, way too fast with very little internal conflict to show that there was some real feeling on this issue. I understand making the healing process fast to keep the book going, but there was really no transition. This 30 yr old woman that has just learned she was adopted, had an identical twin, she was given away while the twin was kept, she's seen that her other younger siblings did not want much to do with her, her new father wants to be way over"protective" of her about her relationship with the H, and she just went to calling these people her mama and daddy. WTH?!

Also, there was not much emotional depth to the main romance. I liked the pair, but he needed to grow a pair and really tell that crazy town to butt-out and fess up about the whole Hope mess.

And Hope, the hometown sweatheart long-lost twin? Is a gigantic pain in the butt. She is mean, loud, conniving lier of an individual. I do not see how this town could like her so much (which is saying something because the town was portrayed as the craziest, nosiest bunch of rednecks) and think that this girl walked on water. She was awful. And she really didn't play that big of a part. She was awful to Faith because Faith was with the H, Slate, and Hope wanted Slate for herself. Not that she really wanted Slate, mind you, but because he was a backup plan and that crazy town thought that they would be good for eachother.

This book was *not* awful, but I was frustrated for a good portion of it. I really do not want to read about Hope in her book, Make Mine a Bad Boy, but I have a feeling that I just might. (If only to get an update on the pair from this story and to see the H, Colt. I would also buy it just to see if she ever apologises for being herself to her twin, that IMO deserves a whole heck of a lot more from this nutball family.)(and to make sure that the BF of Faith and Hope gets rid of her gross husband) :)

I made it 14%. Which is amazing, because I was ready to give up at 3%. I don't like it when the foundation of the whole plot rests on a ridiculous and pointless lie. But I pushed on to see how it would go.

So at 14%, we've met Faith - a shy, Chicago-based woman who is on the hunt for her long-lost twin sister, Hope. Faith goes to Bramble, Texas to track Hope down, but Hope has long since moved to Hollywood. Cue everyone immediately thinking that Faith is actually Hope. The blurb made it sound like Faith tried to tell folks that she wasn't Hope, but they wouldn't believe her. In actuality, she pretended to be Hope to get the townspeople to dish the dirt on her. Which would, in no way, help Faith to track down her sister.

After a steamy few kisses, Slate confronts Faith - he knows she's not Hope. Thankfully, she comes clean instead of trying to keep lying, but things don't get better. They start making out in his truck and she suddenly freaks out and says she has to stop. Slate steps out of the truck to "walk it off" and Faith digs through his truck until she finds a condom. She then goes off about how Slate is just a dumb redneck and she can't believe she almost slept with him, blah blah blah.

I'm already hating this bitch. So hard. But I had to stop when this happened:

"Buster [the dog] didn't get attacked, he attacked something. More than likely a prairie dog."
"A prairie dog?" She looked down at Buster, who was now pawing his nose. "Do you think the prairie dog is badly hurt? Maybe we should call someone."
"Like who? The Prairie Dog Ambulance?"

This dumb bitch... I can't even.

The whole truck scene between Faith and Slate was freaking ridiculous. A very obvious "fish out of water" thing going on with Faith in this tiny Texas town, not knowing anything about small town life or simple living. But this kind of shit goes so far beyond that. Even city folk wouldn't be so stupid to think some sort of authority needs to be called for a fucking prairie dog.

I just can't stand the female MC. It's not happening for me.

Faith Aldridge came to Bramble, Texas looking for one thing: her long-lost identical twin sister, Hope. Having grown up in big city life, Faith has to cope with small town mentalities, considered this small town is under the impression that this city girl is actually their town sweetheart. Now they are fixing to do anything to keep her in town and heat things up between her and Hope's long-time flame Slate Calhoun.

Slate isn't fooled by the way the two look. Faith feels completely different in his arms and he's determined to keep her in his bed, but away from his heart. That proves difficult as the town does their best to push the two of them together.

But now Hope's on her way home with her own designs on Slate and if Faith wants to keep him for her own she's gonna have to show that handsome cowboy that the love between them is worth the fight.

This was the first in this series and I have to say it caught my attention. I love stories where there is mistaken identity and that it takes forever to get sorted out.

I also liked how Faith and Hope were identical in looks but were opposite in personality. However, Faith mentions that despite that separation the two had similar routines and mannerisms. The whole relationship between the sisters is interesting because they are fighting over the same guy.

I also like how the small town is convinced that this is Hope and cannot be persuaded to think differently despite Faith and Slate telling them that. It just goes to show that even in a small town things get complicated.

I enjoyed this book so much I wasted no time picking up the next one in the series.

I loved this book! I read it in two days, it was a fun delicious read. I love cowboys.....Slate is not your normal cowboy working as one but he is a modern cowboy from Texas. I can't really describe the high points of the story without giving away the story. Some of it wasn't entirely believable but was enough fun I went with it. I loved the story and loved the ending.

Here is the info from the back of the book: DOUBLE TROUBLE

This was an extremely funny read.

Faith Aldridge shows up in Bramble, Texas to find out where in California her identical twin sister Hope is. Until recently she never knew she had a twin. When she walks into a bar hoping to get answers she is immediately mistaken for Hope who has been gone for 5 years. Faith is a big city girl from Chicago and has no idea how to take all these crazy people and their small town Texas ways. Seems the town wants her (thinking she is Hope) to get back with her high school sweetheart Slate Calhoun.

After a few tequila shots Faith stops trying to convince the town she isn’t Hope. Slate steps in and takes a drunk Faith (who he thinks is Hope but something seems a little off) out of the bar to go for a ride. But Slate realizes after a few kisses that this woman is not Hope cause Hope's kisses never made him feel this way.

Bramble, Texas is one crazy town. The secondary characters in this book will have you laughing so hard it'll bring tears to your eyes. There are also a few heartbreaking moments when we find out the reason Faith and Hope don’t know anything about each other.

Hope's story is next in the series..

Well, I gotta admit that being a freebie download, I almost always feel a slight amount of trepidation when starting out. However, in this instance, I was proven wrong in that on occasion, freebies really can throw up a truly hidden gem.

I was immediately drawn into the story due to the twin plot (I'm a twin myself) so this had an advantage from the get go. But Katie Lane has such a talent for writing lovable, normal and also downright quirky characters, that you can't help but fall in love - with everyone. Even the somewhat colourful and annoying supporting cast fit the story. The author manages to give each and every character just the right amount of flaws to keep them real whilst also weaving a comedic spell.

I hugely enjoy books written by Carolyn Brown and would compare Katie Lane in style and humour - I hope that she takes that as a compliment as it sure is meant as one.

I read to page 166 and I just couldn't go any further. Faith is looking for her separated-at-birth twin sister, Hope, and when she gets to town, Hope is gone. The town thinks she's Hope and she goes along with it. She's attracted to Slate, and the town is thrilled that Hope and Slate are "finally gettin' together again", but after she sleeps with Slate and then figures out Slate and Hope dated in the past, she's furious! Even though every word out of the townsfolk's mouth alluded to it and the local Sheriff hides her car so she can't leave - thereby giving Slate and "Hope" more time to work things out and get together. The townsfolk were all TSTL and, honestly, Faith and Slate both annoyed the heck out of me.
