Barbara Hand Clow is an astrological counselor, an editor of books on New Consciousness, and a ceremonial teacher at sacred sites. She lives in rural new England.
I’d give this book a shot if you want a deeper look into Chiron, but it just wasn’t for me.
First, I was not a fan of Clow’s writing style. She spoke in such a hard-to-grasp esoteric and mystical way that, even as someone who is tuned into the new age world, I found it difficult to follow. Second, I didn’t find it as practical and as helpful as other books that delve into a specific planet or asteroid. This might relate back to my first point because I spent a lot of my time re-reading sentences trying to understand what she was saying (not to mention, I just didn’t resonate with a lot of her spiritual musings). I also don’t think she did a thorough job of convincing the reader of her claims. For example, I still don’t see how Chiron replaces Mercury as Virgo’s ruler.
I’ll likely reach for this book and its cookbook section as I interpret Chiron in charts and see how it resonates in practice, but reading it front to back was a chore and I don’t plan on doing that again.
I am in the middle of this and it is PAINFUL. The author rambles a lot and stuffs in her own personal opinion and conspiracy theories. There is a bit of good info but its so lost in the poor writing that its hard to extract it. At this point, i feel like im just trying to get this book over with.
DNF. I was hoping this book would talk more about the archetype of Chiron and how that manifests in Astrology. I honestly couldn’t even follow what the heck the author is talking about half the time.
Sometimes you just wonder from where the author takes the firmness to claim to know something for true, specially when it comes down to points of opinions about life or characters.
This book had some useful information, but most of it felt repetitive. While the charts provided good examples, i felt as if the writing style didn't explain the information as thoroughly as it could have. Overall, it was very informative.
According to Babs, Chiron is the mystical healer of demilitarisation. Not sure how she gets that based on its horn -- wouldn't that be self-protection? or even self-defense? it was discovered in 1977 the year of Star Wars, the Sex Pistols, Apple Computers Incorporated, and Elvis died, not mention my own that engagement went south -- and none of this was foreseen. Perhaps Chiron is a just another Uranian force in the chart? Dunno, but based on the year happenings alone, I would say that Chiron breaks up established trends. (I have it in my tenth house btw).
But no, Babs feels that this planets helps our access our multidimensional perceptions and is ruled by Virgo as it makes us tune-- fare enough but she makes very strong statements ith little back her up. In the end, I don't see that Chiron is necessary -- Ceres was founded long ago,two centuries now, and does all of this better. If you want to use Chiron in a birthchart, Babs' understanding is not the way to go. She has her own hippie version of Chiron that I do not think bears up under close inspection.
Ok, What even was this? It was several pages of rambling data dump with almost no context. I felt like I was sitting on a shoreline of lake Woo, with a rambling meth head. And it turns out that most of the book is unavailable on digital, which although the chapters were listed as the part of the subject that I wanted to read about, leaves me thinking that maybe I dodged a bullet with this particular author. The only good thing I can say about the book is that, if I had the physical copy and it was raining, I could keep the rain off of my head with it.
This is a really good book. There is much research into it. Sadly, and I mean so sadly the author has lost her track on how to keep going with that what Chiron needs to fix and heal in this lifetime 2022. She does not give the true answers in the book, nor her website (you cannot ask questions here) updating it with chiron messages. She has succumbed to the materialistic world of making money out of her books. She does not live the message. She dumps it, and then is no longer available for pertinent questions after that on her website, which has not been updated since 2018 or so? She just tries to live a life of making money, reducing her work to New Age clap trap. This is very sad, but it is her aquarian choice. Money, money, money. Instead of give, give, give to humanity. But she chooses not to share, she leads a life in seclusion and not live her own pre-natal eclipse promise to humanity. Instead focussing totally on the money making stuff. Very sad, but true. Lets hope the true spirit in this book will prevail. She cannot just go an dump you and say... 1966 you have real issues with Chiron and then advice: Help Them. But chooses to offer no help at all. Instead flitting off to a new book and fixation, without ever looking at the previous stuff she has written and sticking with it and giving answers in time, helping Chriron energies. Nope, not me... In that she has sadly become a New Age money making machine. I dump something on you, but I offer no help to fix actively on a planetary level. Very New Age Aquarian concept, but not its concept that was intended. I hope she will fix her website and looks at feedback and comments, otherwise she becomes the "clap trap" obsolete bla, bla. And her work is for nothing but a here today gone tomorrow. I hope she will turn around and live with her pre-natal eclipse promises. Without making money, but being there for humanity as a whole. Here is hoping.
I like Barbara Hand Clow and find her information to be of interest. I skimmed this book in search of pertinent information for current times, it was a good read at that. I am still looking for a more up to date good book on Chiron though.
I appreciated the depth she went into in regard to how Chiron show up in the different signs, houses and with aspects. However, I feel like this could’ve been condensed. Wouldn’t recommend for someone just starting to get into astrology.
Difícil de leer sin las bases suficientes. Yo no las tengo, sin embargo creo que sin rigurosidad no habría sido posible este libro. Por eso las cinco estrellas.
"Chiron energy is the exact moment, the exact place, the exact point of awareness—the Chirotic point. Christ said we would need to enter the Kingdom of Heaven through the eye of a needle. This is the perfect metaphor for the polarity of mastering the sixth house or eye of the needle to enter the Kingdom or cosmic attunement, the twelfth house. This is the key concept of this book: Enter totally into your body/mind balance, in your personal life, and God is waiting on the other side."
the topic is good but where are the charts telling when all the squares happen and so on. interesting planet, little known, explaining perhaps some of the mis-judgements of our planetary time, or should i say, mis-direction?
The best work on Chiron in my view. I have read Melanie Reinhart's early work, and Martin Lass' later effort but this one has some profound wisdom squeezed into its pages.
Having said that none of the Chiron stories is entirely satisfactory in my view.
