清代吴敬梓的《儒林外史》，是我国古典文学中一部伟大的反封建的现实主义名著。这本连环画就是节选其中一段故事改编的。 故事讲述有个江湖骗子叫张铁臂，本无高深武功，就因长得魁梧，会几下拳脚，便自称“侠客”，四处骗吃骗喝，后来竞骗到富家豪府中，诈骗府中公子哥的钱财。由于他巧言善辩，又能见风使舵，在他的花招将被揭穿的时候，找了个借口溜之大吉，害得那富家公子赔了钱又颜面扫地。
