I thought this book was interesting but it annoyed me.
Sita was constantly saying she the the best fighter, the strongest creature on earth, faster then anyone else, ect, but when ever she got into a fight with someone who wasnt human, she got her ass kicked.
Again.
And Again.
Not only that, but her emotions were disjointed and her thought patterns erratic at best.
I liked this book because it seemed differnt from the current trend of teen vampire books, but it was a dissapointment as although it did have differnt concepts and plots it was not as well written as I thought it could have been.
So this book, and Vol 1, both get 1 star from me.

As I said with my review of "Thirst No. 1", I am happy The Last Vampire series is being republished. For me, Sita is the original kick ass vampire, and this series will always be my favorite in young adult vampire fiction. I read it when it was first published in 1996, and now in 2009-2010, it has withstood the test of time for me. And what's more, I feel it can be read at different levels depending on your age and interests. Especially in "Thirst No. 2," Pike introduces many New Age concepts and different philosophies that are intriguing and that deserve further examination. But you can also read it as an enjoyable story. This omnibus is both - Pike doesn't talk down to his readers.
When I was a youngster and first reading the series, I wanted to *be* Sita. I was envious of her powers, her calm and cool demeanor, and her long fantastic life. Unlike many of the simpering protagonists of today's vampire fiction, Sita is one strong girl, and while she loves, she doesn't allow it to get in her way.
Below are my reviews for the three books contained in "Thirst No. 2," which are "The Last Vampire #4: Phantom," "The Last Vampire #5: Evil Thirst," and "The Last Vampire #6: Creatures of Forever." In my opinion this omnibus is the best way to read the last three volumes of the series, as they flow better as one book, rather than separate books.

The Last Vampire #4: Phantom, by Christopher Pike
When we last saw Sita, she had used an ancient alchemical process to transform from vampire to human. And so for the first time in 5,000 years, she is human...but is being human what she really wants?
At first it appears so. Minutes after the transformation is complete, Ray, her lover previously thought dead, knocks on the door. Together the two start a life of domestic bliss, and within weeks Sita is pregnant. Finally she will have a child, to replace the one she lost 5,000 years ago.
But her child isn't exactly human, which is quickly obvious when the child is born months before her due date. And when Kalika starts demanding blood, Sita knows she's birthed a monster. But her love for her child prevents her from killing Kalika...
"Phantom" starts a new direction for The Last Vampire series, and at times doesn't seem to quite fit with the previous books. I feel it is best to read this and the next two in the series at once, as if you were reading one book rather than three - it doesn't stand well on its own. Pike introduces New Age ideas and Eastern religions, as Kalika is actually Kali Ma. With "Phantom," Pike sends Sita on a journey of self-reflection that will carry into the next two books in the series.

Back to her vampire self, in "Evil Thirst" Sita faces a difficult decision. She either has to destroy her daughter, Kalika, or give up a precious child, John, who may be the savior of the human race.
Kalika's actions in the previous novel, "Phantom," cast her as the avatar of an evil goddess, but as Sita ponders her daughter's behavior, she wonders if she can redeem her. Or is she wrong, and Kalika is right? It's a difficult situation for her, a vampire who believes in love and redemption. Can a mother's love overcome a child's evil?
Pike experiments further with New Age ideas as he transposes Sita's past in ancient Egypt with the oracle Suzama against her modern conundrum. The baby John, born to her friend after a mystery conception, is rumored to be the reincarnation of Krishna and Jesus, by a scripture written by Suzama. This may sound a bit out there, but Pike weaves a skillful and fast paced tale with all these varied pieces falling neatly into place.
I think it is best to read the last three books of The Last Vampire series in a row, and not look at them as separate books, to get the full effect.

In "Creatures of Forever," Pike's excellent The Last Vampire series goes a little wonky. More science fiction than vampire tale, Pike continues to mix New Age ideas with aliens and time travel.
Continuing with hints dropped in "Phantom (#4)" and "Evil Thirst (#5)," Pike concludes the story of Sita, the last vampire who has roamed the earth for 5,000 years. In "Creatures of Forever," she learns that in the 9th century actions of hers forever changed the future of humanity. Advanced beings from the future ask Sita if she will travel to the past and fix her wrong, so that humanity may be saved.
Without spoiling too much of the plot, this is the first time Pike focuses a novel on Sita's past. Instead of just flashbacks, the action takes place in the past and I wish it's something he would have done more - shared more fascinating stories of her life interspaced with famous historical events, or even obscure ones.
If you enjoyed Sita's story, you will be sad when this book ends. But at least Pike doesn't leave his fans hanging and does conclude Sita's story. I feel it is best to read the last three books in the series as one, instead of as separate novels, to get the full effect.

This book surprised me. I liked it better than the first because it incorporated more of the philosophy and faith elements of Hindi beliefs, especially via the daughter, Kalika, who represents Kali Ma. The first book was full of cliffhangers to keep you turning pages. It had quick action and kick-butt vampire violence with humor. This one, however, has more of Alisa / Sita's inner thoughts. She has to figure things out and despite more powers, she also seems more vulnerable because of her blindness--the illusion of maya, and her tendency to show compassion to the innocent. There's a cool mystical old homeless guy too. It goes "far out" of the believable status with evil alien races, friends from the future, and the Hispanic second coming (awesome) of Christ. Part of the time travel takes her back to Sicily when the Moors were initially invading, and we get to witness some nasty demonic rituals. Christopher Pike, the author, has nullified the paradox of a vampire's sin of killing with her spirituality. She's so old that she rarely needs to drink, she doesn't need much sleep, and she is hardly affected by the sun. The cover of the book appears generic, sexy chick with a hint of the supernatural. However, there's a lot more thought-provoking content in it, and overall, it completely defies categorization into a genre. Surprises abound. My favorite part was solving the riddle related to the Greek mythology of Perseus and Medusa.

I loved this book so friken much. This author captures me every single time! SOOOO much stuff happens in this book! Sita has her baby, which only took five days to go through nine months of pregnacy! But the catch is the father is a demon mirage... (wierd right!) and her daughter is really the goddess of all of the dead. Sita also makes a friend who is the mother to the next Jesus! And her mission is to protect him (super intense). But while doing so she runs into one of her old enemy's from the time of one of her lovers (Suzama) and ends up killing him... or so she thinks. But Sita has to go back in time to kill the leader of this evil clan, who is trying to kill the recreation of jesus. And this..is very painful for her. Sita goes into a spaceship (trippy!!), and travels back through time. As she does so she endures somthing like de javu, but the out come is different; she is able to kill the leader. Since Sita was capable of killing the leader, she gets to change one more thing in her past, and the thing she changes is very bold. She kills the first vampire (yackasha) instead of letting him live; so in return the whole future is altered, except for Seymore; who remembers everything. And since his memory of Sita and thier adventures is so clear he writes a book about it, only to die from his AIDS a couple of months later.
As you can tell...this book is very intense... and thats why i loved it! it ALWAYS kept me at the edge of my seat, and i really got to connect with all the characters. I seriously almost cried when the book ended. I loved it that much.

Well! Sita's back, and this time as a mortal human through her Renaissance paramour's alchemic genius. What's more, she finds out that the love of her ultra-long life has escaped what was then an almost-certain death. It seems like after all the trials and agonies of the first book she was finally given the breather that she so deserved, achieving that which her heart has subconsciously yearned for in the span of fifty centuries. She's now ready to start a family, be a wife and mother again, to relive the idyllic life that was mercilessly wrenched from her by her demon swain Yaksha. And yet - we don't really think it will all just turn out roses, do we?
There's a lesson here about how the granting of boons, which is a staple trope in Indian mythology, is not all that it's cracked up to be. Sita's maternal desires were so intense that she willingly sacrificed her immortality to have a shot of fulfilling them again. She was vouchsafed this wish, but at a truly terrible price.
As is the case with its predecessor, this has action in spades (or backhoes, more like). Killing rape-murderey drunks in one chapter; going straight from the initial trimester of pregnancy to full-blown childbirth in less than a week; etc. It still doesn't feel rushed though - her life just marches furiously, inexorably, to fulfill a bitter karmic fate that the murderess of tens of thousands deserves.
I noticed that in all of the six parts making up this book and the first, Sita either turns a human into a vampire or hybrid, unwittingly or not, technically upending her very oath to Krishna time and time again. And yeah, I don't really buy that "love" clause because it's such a cop out. By that reasoning she should have been allowed to turn the hundreds of lovers she amassed over time, which should go very much against Krishna's admonition. I'm willing to make an exception for Ray, but the others were quite ridiculous.
No wonder that for the first time in her long history, she seems to have lost Krishna's grace and protection. She always ends up in these terrible scrapes, which do admittedly make for some great reading. She has faced her demon sire, a crazed vampire thug, and even the full might of a secret military base. But nothing quite prepared her for the challenges she faces now. Because what she'll come up against are beings far more ancient and wily than those three. There will also be an encore of a battle against a powerful sorcerer that she's supposed to have beaten in the past. Time travel, anyone?
Sita is growing on me by the page. I like her spunk and the way she gives attitude instead of whining/mewling when the going gets tough. I guess you can't be an apex predator for millennia without developing this much confidence. At least she has humor and sass to alleviate her bloodthirstiness.
Pike's works almost always have a spirituality to them that has a distinct Hindu flavor, but I feel like I must warn strict Christians about certain passages here that may smack of blasphemy. A scholar character here posits that Christ has been born before, with one of his first incarnations being the Lord Krishna. That sounds pretty strange seeing how Vedic scriptures state the latter as just one of the nine avatars of Vishnu the Preserver, the second of the prime trinity of the Hindu pantheon. The same academic also declares that He has been reborn again at the time of the book's events in California. Even if one is reminded that this is a merely fictional book, these plot points/ideas are bound to ruffle some feathers. To be fair though, in his books Pike has nothing but the most positive things to say about Jesus, so at least there's that. He's quite sympathetic towards Christianity, and views it as a force for good, overall.
This is a worthy read with a deeply resonant ending. Guess some wishes do come true after all.

This book was astonishing and not in a good way. There were so many things happening that it was hard to keep up. I would give 1.5 stars, but I can't do that, so I will give it a 1.
The first book ended with Sita/Alisa going through a transformation to become human and in the beginning of thirst #2, we see that the transformation has worked. Alisa/Sita is indeed human once again and wants to regain that life and do the things that she missed out on.

Well, I liked the books in this series much more than the books grouped in Thirst #1. Sita became a human again at the start of this book and with becoming human also seemed to start to have honest emotions - feelings of love, empathy, forgiveness. I liked her progression in this book BUT...the plot went some very strange places. Some I liked - I liked the ongoing discussion in this book about religion, faith, and spirituality. Some of the insights in this book made me think so I can imagine how it may make a young adult think or rethink faith. I liked the time travel aspects of this collection of books as well as how it seamlessly intertwined with a beautiful and perfect ending that had me shedding a few tears at the end. However, some parts I didn't like - such as the aliens and creatures from another dimension. I feel like Pike tried to just incorporate too much into this book and it made the story-archs seems schizophrenic at best. When I started reading about the aliens I just thought: sigh, oh please. I still think it wasn't well written - choppy and disjointed. But about half way through this book I realized what I disliked so much about Sita as a character, as a vampire, and as the book in total. She was just too naive. For someone over 5,000 years old, for someone immortal, for someone who is the most powerful vampire....well I just don't know how she survived as long as she did. She didn't learn from her mistakes, kept making them over and over again, and just came across more and more like a ditzy blond. I think that I could accept the ruthlessness or the emotional disconnect, but it is the lack of learning, lack of growing, lack of "smart" that I didn't like. There is a Thirst #3 and I will most definitely NOT be reading that book. The original series wrapped up so beautifully that there is no need for me to continue reading a newer add on to the series.

All 3 books I've read have melded into one big story in my mind, as is usual for me with series. So I will put this as the review on all 3.
It bothered me that just because Alisa/Sita is 5000 years old, she seems incapable of emotions, except when they suit her or as a means to an end. Sure, she is or was relatively solitary, but would basic human emotions be so easily forgotten? And what did she do before the books began, didn't she ever come into contact with humans, except to feed?
We were never privvy to her capabilities until an extraordinary situation presented itself, then she was like "I can fly an Apache helicopter" or "I'm an expert with explosives". But why did she need to be prior to Yakush looking for her???
I grew tired of her whole story in the middle of the third book, but I was invested. I had to finish it out. And now I'm like "crap, when's the 4th coming out?" It seems she's got a lot of explaining to do...which will probably be explained away as "I can do that, cuz I'm a vampire". Oh well. I'll keep reading. Doesn't mean I have to like it.

i chose this book because i bought the first one and i really liked it.
the genre is fiction.
the setting is in callifornia still and continues to other parts of the country.
the main character is sita an indian vampire thats 5000 years old.
the book is about sita trying to save her new friends baby from her daughter who is more powerfull than sita herself and her daughter manages to kill sita's good friend seymour.
the main conflict is sita trying to stop her daughter from killing her friends baby named john.
the problem is resolved by sita finding old scriptures telling a prophecy that her daughter will kill the child. then she can be prepared to face her daughter kalika.
i think the book is a great continuation of the first one. it really got me hooked in i really liked the series and i have started the third one and i hope it gets better too

Here’s where things get more chaotic. These books try to evolve Sita’s character while diving deeper into mysticism, reincarnation, and even science fiction. There’s an unexpected but oddly emotional storyline involving Sita raising a child (Kalika) who may or may not be the incarnation of evil. The moral and spiritual undertones grow louder. The action becomes more extreme—mass death, otherworldly threats, and time-bending missions—but the emotional grounding weakens at times. Still, Sita's internal struggle—between her monstrous nature and her desire for peace—keeps you invested. You’ll either love the madness or be exhausted by it.

These books have been in my bookcase ever since my daughter was a teenager, and I came across them again while rearranging my bookcases recently. I had read the first few books many years ago now, and couldn’t really remember them- and since I wanted to finish the series, I decided to read all 6 books back to back.
The book/series has quite an original premise, with interesting and somewhat quirky characters, and a well-crafted storyline. This has a fast, action-packed plot- which makes it quite a quick and easy read. There is some mystery, a little suspense, drama, and plenty of intrigue.
So, if you love paranormal, fantasy, vampires, young adult stories, with action and adventure, then this is definitely the story/series for you!

There is such a lot at stake- failure is not an option. We follow along as the story unfolds, witnessing historical events as all the adventure unfolds. All the threads are tied up as the series concludes. Definitely a bit of a twist to the series.
As the story continues from one book to another through the whole six books, I really recommend reading the entire series, in sequence, so you have all the important information and continuing story threads- in order to fully understand and appreciate what’s happening. I don’t think any of them would read as well as a standalone.

Phantom

Can't say that much about the details of this book without going into spoilers. Overall I'll say that it was pretty decent, all around, some of the twists were kind of meh, and it mostly continue to set-up the scene for the end.
Last night I had a thought about this series in comparison to a TV show. It's like one of the shows that has a main arc that encompasses the whol season, and each episode, while having little stand-alone bits in every episode, really are all just laying down the foundation for the series as a whole. These books are like that - it's not a series of 6 individual books as much as a story made of 6 parts.
I'll be interested to see what I think of the whole arc - I think taking the books as individual entities hasn't been the best approach for me to take thus far (though I'll continue writing thoughts per book).

Also, I liked the addition of Egyptian mythos into the story. It's kind of New Agey, in a way, the whole all paths lead to God sort of thing, but I dig the way it's being used in this story.

Unfortunately, I was a bit underwhelmed with the concluding chapter of the original series. I'm not sure I can entirely put my finger on what the problem was, aside from the same sort of things I've mentioned in the past, but I think, mostly, it was just an issue of stretched credulity. It's funny, in a way, that I could take everything so far with a grain of salt, but throw in and suddenly I'm not buying it anymore.
I just felt like it didn't fit. I mean, I get that in a way it does. Thus far in the series we've had
After that part, when we were in the past again, as it were, I was digging the story, but, again, I thought the resolution was a bit too 'gotcha' or something.
Anyway the ending was interesting and, in many ways, was very fitting - but it doesn't exactly lend itself to future installments - of which there are now two. So I'm curious to get onto the next book and see how that gets handled.

One complaint for the entirety of the series is that there seems to be a fair bit of inconsistencies. Partially in plot-points and things, like , but, more significantly, there are some inconsistencies in character.

This book is amazing! It is about a teenage girl who is named Alisa who is now a mother who has a child named Kalika. She was once a vampire and became human. You can't really say you'd love this book if u haven't read part 1. Kalika loves her mother until she grew up. They face life as if it is just a game board were eliminating a piece is no big deal, Nothing matters to them unless the people have effected their life someway. But more trouble occurs when not only is she effected, her family and other innocent bystanders come into her situation. Life begins to get more complicated when all of her loved ones end up in trouble. She meets a new character in life; a girl named Paula, everyone depends on her it's Alisa's job to protect Paula's child, it is as if they are depending on the baby for something important. She has no powers to protect the baby from anyone until her very close friend Seymore makes her more stronger than usual, so she needs to go on in life and protect this baby until she find out about Kali: the dark mother.
I would recommend this book to people who love action, drama, and a big twist in life. the book is great for the people who loves, the house of night series, vampire academy, and twilight series. i would truly recommend this book to anyone who wants thrill in their life and just want to travel in a fantasized world that makes you imagine if it were to happen to you, where you want to feel as if your there, where u just want to scream at the character for doing what they did, i love this book.

This is the second book in the series. Like i said in the first one it is a decent book to read to pass the time but not one of my favourites. I liked the first book better though.
In this book the 5000 year old vampire has finally found a way to become what she always wanted. She has found a way to get her humanity back.
Ok this book has a few flashbacks into her past. In these flashbacks she is dating a priest who is obsessed with scientific projects and who is convinced that he can make Alisa human yet make a new breed of human with her blood. One that is both human but can live a longer life if subjected to experiments with the vampire blood. In this past of hers he is hanged for doing witchcraft or similar.
Now she meets this guy in her current time and is using him to break into a government building she has to access. Only he played her all along to get her there cos shocker he IS the same guy from her past and STILL wants to use her blood. Now i don't see this being plausible. How could she not recognise a man she had spent a good portion of her time with.
I don't know to me there is too many cracks in the story as it goes on and it irritated me a few times. Again an okay story to pass the time but don't expect too much from it. Definately a young adult or teen book/series i think.

3 stars overall! The first two books, Phantom and Evil Thirst, were both 3 stars. The majority of Creatures of Forever was actually a 1 star read, but the ending was really, really good!

i really was into it in the beginning but towards the end there was only one part that kept me going but some of it got confusing and storyline got kind of weird at times. this one took me so long to complete. i honestly liked the first one better. but overall it was pretty good

After five thousand years, Sita/Alisa is finally human again. And pregnant. But will it be an angel or a demon?
With the introduction of Kali/Kalika the reader may make hasty judgements as to her purpose in being born. Indeed, exactly what kind of creature can be conceived from the womb of a vampire? It is interesting to watch Sita's daughter grow and interact with society--leaving you wondering what she might be or do.
Perhaps it's the undercurrent of Eastern philosophy, the paradoxical dualism Pike presents in nearly every story but one does conclude that in Pike's world, the situation often (at least at the outset) seems to be one of good versus bad, just like most children's stories. But this is soon shattered by the complicated truth that situations and people aren't usually good "versus" bad. It's that the good is the bad, and the bad is the good, which cancels them both out and thus we see gray.
"The Last Vampire 5: Evil Thirst"
The agony of fulfilling one's purpose without outside thought interfering with ones ego, is hard--most especially if it is your own daughter you're trying to kill in order to save humanity.
The conflict between mother and daughter is completely gripping: you learn to hate Kalika although at the same time you love her. The more you hate her the more you'll learn to love her. For the reason that she takes almost totally after her mother.
This addition to this series would've been quite exceptional where it not for the inclusion of the barely believable introduction of the Sethians from the time of Ancient Egypt. Oh if Pike had only decided to cut that from the storyline and left it with only the predictions of Suzama as the supernatural element!

I started reading "The Last Vampire" series when it first came out, and I remember checking the bookstore every time the next installment was going to be available. Although I'm an adult now (but I was a preteen when the series started), I've still re-read most of the installments. It's truly amazing how Pike manages to flesh out such a complete characterization.
Another amazing thing is how each installment ties in so fluidly with each other and yet they stand alone with their own plot, be it her story with Ray or Joel, or her daughter.
I haven't re-read this one, "The Last Vampire 6: Creatures of Forever", in awhile, but I was a bit disappointed at the end. Although it was a very well-written book I wished it wouldn't have ended the way it did. I don't want to give it away, but I did get the feeling of "she went through all of this then for what?" I wish the last paragraph was left out, basically. Pike probably ended it the way he did because it was the only way to end the series without being tempted to continue on. Still, it's great escapism. If you're a young woman, you will identify with Sita, and it's incredibly easy to imagine yourself in her situation.
I love the wit and humor Pike uses. He doesn't pander to the lowest (or youngest) common denominator plus the writing is every bit as good as any "adult" novel I've read.
You might be disappointed after reading this, if only because you'll wish there were more to the series. Although it was terribly sad story, I felt happiness for Sita at the end, for she got what she wanted. I think that its brilliant that in a way the ending is the beginning.

Pros: Original take on vampires. Plenty of kickass action and entertaining (if often bloody) moments. Blends urban fantasy with thriller, history, and more than anything, Eastern spirituality.
Cons: Requires more suspension of disbelief than Book 1. The blend of UF and sci-fi may not work for everyone.
WARNING! Abundance of blood, gore and violence.
Will appeal to: Those looking for a fresh approach to vampires, in what was probably the very first YA/NA series about them.
This series is not perfect. And I won't shun its faults in my review. But for some reason, I can't bear myself to rate it less than 5 stars. It's not author bias - there are a bunch of Pike books I rated 3 stars and even less. But if TLV/Thirst stills works its magic on me almost 20 years after I first read Book 1, and if I'm still peeling its layers after all this time, that should count for something...
I WANT TO BELIEVE
There's a fil rouge to all the Thirst series, and the French metaphor comes in especially handy, since the common denominator is all kinds of enemies (human or not) going after Sita's blood. And there's a corollary to this - Sita having to defend humanity from the havoc her blood could wreak on them. But the 4th and 5th original installments break this pattern (that will resurface in Book 6), focusing on two special births and the need to defend one of the infants from malevolent forces. Plus, for a while, Sita is human again, and for the very first time we see her bonding with another woman (like her apparent insta-love with Ray in Book 1, this could have a huge insta-friendship vibe, if there wasn't a century-old backstory to it). Since from the original separate book blurbs I knew she would go back to being a vampire, I enjoyed my ride with human Sita. In a way, it was even more interesting for me to have that version of her to explore and compare to the one we had known so far. Some things change, some are oh so much alike. It's SO hard to review this part of the story without spoilers, but what I can say is, your enjoyment of Phantom may depend on to what extent you're capable to suspend disbelief, unless the illusion that the title openly references has, indeed, a life of sorts (which I suspect is the case, given the multiple references to "the abyss" as if it were a place that could generate something more solid than a simple hallucination). It still poses a few practical problems, but like Sita with her predicament, we probably aren't to examine the story that closely, or it will blow in our face 😉. Still, even before I formulated my crazy (ingenious?) theory about what goes on in Phantom, I was invested in the story, and a certain part before the very end broke my heart. [...]

I didn’t have as hard a time getting into this book as I did Volume 1. I only had to renew my check out notice once and it’s still not due back for another 1 ½ weeks. I still found the first person point of view from Sita/Alisa to be very blunt and choppy. However, since she has become human again (per the last chapter of Red Dice in Vol. 1) her words throughout the book just seemed to flow a little bit better. She isn’t as emotionless especially after the very quick birth of her otherworldly daughter, Kalika. I found myself relating to her a bit more. I am still not a huge fan of these books. There is still something lackluster about them. I don’t find myself becoming totally engulfed in them.
This series (Vol. 1 & 2) has a lot of hinting around that involves Buddhism and Christianity. The last book in this volume actually starts down the road toward alien life forms. There’s much discussion regarding the birth of Alisa’s friend Paula’s baby possibly being the next Messiah; Kalika being the Dark Mother intent on killing the baby; proclamations written on papyrus that prophesy about the events that have been unfolding; and a small amount of Greek mythology..
I actually skipped a lot of parts in the 2nd and 3rd books this time and I don’t generally do that. I’m trying to decide if I want to even bother with Thirst No. 3 or just take it back to the library when I return Thirst No. 2. Unlike Thirst No. 1 drawing you into the next novel like it did for me, I think I could possibly manage to live my life not reading anymore of the Thirst novels.

I didn’t have as hard a time getting into this book as I did Volume 1. I only had to renew my check out notice once and it’s still not due back for another 1 ½ weeks. I still found the first person point of view from Sita/Alisa to be very blunt and choppy. This was one amazing sequel, I thought the last one was really good, but this one is really, really good! There is literally non-stop action with crazy suspense, and just when you thought things would calm down a bit for Sita, they don't...Right at the start the thrill continues, and truths are revealed, a familiar face from the past visits her and everything changes. This book has around 600 pages, and I couldn't begin to describe what happens in this book, so much happens, there are a lot of new characters along with new enemies, the plot thickens and Sita has to discover many truths, along with deciding who to trust. It was extremely hard to put down, because every other page revealed a twist in the mystery, fighting scenes started, or Sita meets a new mysterious character. The beginning was a little strange, and everything happened so fast, but as it progressed it became literally impossible to put down, and highly captivating. The characters are great, and you really become attached to them along the way.
The last book had more romance, but this sequel had so much more action and suspense. Page one right until the end had me grasping the book, never wanting this book to end. Pike is such a great author, he has created this series that is not your typical Vampire series, there is so much history and mystery involved that makes it so unique. I don't know if there will be a third book, if there is, great, but It would also be great if the series just ended the way it did. Overall, a really, really good sequel that still leaves you shocked after you've closed the book, after reading this series, I am very interested to read more of Pike's books!!

As I wrote in my review for "Thirst no.1" I made it very clear that I absolutely loved the book and many wise ideas that went into it. This book may have dropped one star but I still appreciated the details and plot of the story. "Phantom" was a little dissapointing to me at first. After changing herself back into a human, Alisa finds her love reincarnated, Ray, is back alive. This was a welcome twist in the story, and after reading she was pregnant I started to sense another game-changer in this book. Whenever I love the first book of a series (like I did with Thirst no.1) I read the rest of the series no matter how dissapointing it becomes.
After giving birth to her daughter, Alisa finds that Kalika is somehow a vampire. She decides the only way to rid the earth of her, is to change herself back into a vampire. But Kalika is stronger and faster than Alisa, and she soon finds out Ray was never really undead, that it was a trick of her faulty human mind. She realizes she became pregnant in the last book, after she slept with a scientist in order to gain his trust and free F.B.I agent Joel.
I found myself crying after Kalika dies to save her mother. It was extremely sad but it did not feel like a downer which usually happens when a loved character dies. Christopher Pike wrote this book to be the last of the series. Or so we thought. (Check my upcoming review of Thirst No.3). This book is made up of Phantom, Evil Thirst, and Creatures are Forever.
At the end of No.1, Sita makes herself human (with the help of an alchemist from her past). While she is impregnated by a demon mirage (I know... really strange) and gives birth to a daughter (5 days after she is impregnated (strange). Her daughter, Kalika, who is the goddess of all the dead. During the books, the reader is made to believe that Kalika is evil. But as you read on, Pike shows that she is actually good; she was created to protect Alisa's new friend's baby, who is the mother to the next Jesus! To protect the boy, Alisa turns back into a vampire by using the blood of her creator. Her powers are heightened when her daughter is dying and gives Alisa her blood. So now Alisa is even more powerful than before. Along with her friend, Seymour (who Alisa turned into a vampire to save him) her next mission is to travel back in time to kill Landauf of Capua who tortured Alisa many years ago. This is to save the future of humankind. After doing so, instead of returning to the present she travels back to when she was created and kills the first vampire, Yaksha, forever changing the future for Sita. The books ends back with Seymour at his computer typing Alisa (Sita)'s story, thinking this was a figment of his imagination. Or so we thought....

This book surprised me. I actually liked this one better than the first one but then again I didn't. This was was a tad bit more interesting with the return of Ray =) and with the fact that Alisa/Sita returns to being human. But I also found that it was boring. The first half of the book was interesting while the second half was a little confusing and boring.
There was such a drastic change from the first book to the second. New things were added, but to me they didn't seem to fit with the Sita we came to know in the first book nor did they fit the storyline of the book, to me at least. But after the "new things" happened and the story ended, I was some what satisfied. The book ended with Sita being who she truly is and doing things that fit her well.
