4 stars. Alright, so Mist is the kind of sci-fi story that sneaks up on you. At first, I thought it might get repetitive with all the mission arcs, but nope—this author said, “Repetition? Never heard of her.” Every arc felt fresh and exciting, and I was totally hooked.
The real MVPs here are the characters. Ji Yushi is this ridiculously smart, hyperthymesia genius with a tragic, insomniac backstory, and Song Qinglan is the classic tough-guy-with-a-soft-side leader. The character building is chef’s kiss. You can actually feel them growing and changing throughout the story, which kept me invested.
Now, about the romance… it’s there, they have their moments, but I didn’t feel the sparks flying. Honestly, though, I didn’t even care because the story and the writing were that good.
This book is a wild ride with great pacing, solid action, and some surprisingly emotional moments. If you’re into sci-fi with a sprinkle of drama and compelling characters, you’re gonna love this one. Highly recommend.
This worth all the 5 stars rating. No kidding, the characters, the plot, the lessons of life within, and the way the story shows how time continuously flow… wow, this might be one of the conplex-Theory type of novel I have ever read and love. MC’s characters’ are very nicely thought and without contradictions. He wasn’t the always cold type, more like the type who hide his own pain. While ML is robust and with high-esteem, he seamlessly works reasons of how and why he felt to reach the conclusion. I don’t know how to describe them and this novel, but I absolutely applaud the author reasons/method of building this universe. Truly good!! 4.9/5 ⭐️
great sci-fi story but gotta say that in the first two thirds of the story, there was very little romance (which was great, the plot was very intriguing and there was no need for any excessive romance), but then in the last 30% of the story there wasn't anything too relevant happening. the mistery about the mc's past was resolved but besides that, it was all focused of the couple's relationship. also the constant description of the mcs unparalleled beauty etc etc was quite unnecessary and goofy. the first two arcs were especially interesting and also the third one with the Rubik's cube was good, but after that unfortunately it went downhill. overall great book but I feel like the ending definitely could have been polished up.
