Chase Duo #2

Chasing a Rogue

Bringing together the beloved characters from her enchanting romance A Merry Chase, Victoria Malvey spins a charming Regency tale of a woman's pursuit of the most elusive quarry of all -- true love.... Harriet Nash longs for marital bliss, and the dashing Steven Morris, Earl of Heath, seems the ideal candidate in every way. Following her theory that catching the perfect mate is like a fox hunt, Harriet sets out to snare a husband. But Steven proves a difficult catch, evading all her artful traps with ease. Undaunted, Harriet devises a new to convince Steven that she'll help him catch a wife if he helps her find a suitable husband. With empty family coffers demanding that he marry a wealthy heiress, Steven must resist his growing desire for Harriet. When she approaches him with her plan, he eagerly agrees, hoping that time spent with Harriet will cure him of his fascination -- never suspecting that their secret scheming would soon turn into a very public passion....

The heroine just kept throwing herself at him, and he kept resisting, or just fanning the physical flames. I never really felt like he gave a damn about anything other than sex. The HEA was resolved too quickly for him to have earned it. If it had been a contemporary, I would have called her a doormat.

I got about 3/4 of the way through this book and realized I was about to get frustrated with the heroine's angst. I'm just not in the mood to feel frustrated. I'm skipping the rest of the book, but the first part was pretty good.

So this is the 2nd book I have read by this author and I had no idea it was rated "Hot"! Have to skip so much there is nothing left. As a sequel to a cooler book, it was a shock! Even the story seemed worse for wear since all the focus was on the sex! Yikes!
