Absolutely my favourite volume yet!! I really love how we're seeing so many little bits of back story now and just everything is coming together super nicely, can't wait to read the next 8 vols now I have the box set!

Ooh the cover is so pretty 😍
My heart wrenched for Sho. He just wanted to be remembered, but yeah, after this volume I don’t think he can be the good guy, or that he was meant to be with Misao 😭 Misao and Kyo’s memory story was so cuute- Kyo does love Misao deep down, even though he’s a bit rough and mean 😅
Can’t wait to read the next one! Won’t the couple ever have peace? 😭😂

i honestly forgot what happened in the other volumes, but the concept of the enemy just being a house away from them is kind of funny. also, why did they let him near her so easily?

This is an excellent addition to this series. When I started Black Bird, I thought it was just a weird fantasy romance about Kyo and Misao. Their relationship is certainly central to the series, but as it has progressed other elements have been revealed. Sho as the villain wasn’t working for me when he was first introduced. Now, I’m buying it. This particular volume helped develop him a little more. I think there’s much more to Sho than meets the eye and Misao sees that too. I know that Misao has a tendency to think the best of everyone, but in this case, I agree with her. As far as the romance side goes, Kyo and Misao’s bond really grew stronger in this volume. The more their love is tested, the more they depend on each other. I thought Misao made some smart choices too, which is a little unusual for her. Most of the time she does something to get herself into trouble and Kyo has to rescue her. The tables turned a bit in this volume and that was nice. It ended with more Sho plotting so I’m eager to see how he strikes next.
I’m trying my best to stick with this series until the end before I move back to Hana-Kimi.

People are getting a lot more bold about asking for Misao's blood. She realizes that Kyo constantly telling his people "no" makes him look bad in their eyes so she comes up with a way to shift that blame to herself. It's a bit of maturation on her part that I appreciate. Sho is up to all sorts of chaotic neutral shenanigans making trouble just for the hell of it. Miaso gets her memories back "in a show of good faith" from Sho. Things didn't go the way he'd wanted them to, but he doesn't seem to care too much. He reveals to her that he was resurrected, doesn't really want to be alive, and that he never wanted to see her again. Meanwhile Kaede is doing some shady shit from the background...

Firstly, I’ve said it before but I ADORE the artwork in this manga series! It’s just so my aesthetic. I wish we had some colour pages inside the manga but if I was to create a manga series I’d certainly try to somewhat replicate the style of the artwork in Blackbird. The covers give you a feel for what the art style is like.
I read this volume for the Popsugar 2020 Reading Challenge - A book featuring one of the seven deadly sins - LUST - Sho clearly wants Misao because he doesn't want Kyo to be happy. He is the villain of the story, though so what more do you expect?
This is more of a new adult than YA manga series. The sex scenes aren’t on the page but it’s discussed. Also the characters don’t swear but say such sounds as “ah” during those scenes so we know what’s going on.

I enjoyed this volume of Blackbird. In it we see Misao become her own person, I feel. “I want to be able to walk with Kyo on my own two feet,” shows this. She doesn’t want to be insignificant to Kyo. She wants to be strong, as he has been! At the same time we have Sho plotting to break Misao and Kyo up. ”All I have to say is...”Shall I break the seal I put on your memories, Misao?” If all goes well cracks will form in their relationship.” Sho is very much the main antagonist in the story. He wants Misao for himself, I feel. He certainly doesn’t want his brother, Kyo to have her, as she’s the Senka Maiden and thought very highly of. He’s the eldest brother and it should be him inheriting all that Kyo has, after all. I kind of feel sorry for Sho in a way but then he IS the villain, who’s brought everything on himself, so there’s only so much of me that can feel pity for him.
“She’s probably afraid of how her feelings might change if she gets her memories back,” Misao doesn’t want her memories back because she thinks they’ll be of Sho, not Kyo. She was meant to fall in love with Sho, as she’s the Senka Maiden and the prophecy told that the Senka Maiden will love the eldest son of the Tengu clan. This obviously hasn’t happened.
“I want...to know...how Sho feels about me.” This is Misao telling Ayame, a friend of Kyo’s not to tell him about her wanting to talk to Sho. She doesn’t want Kyo to get angry at her or be disappointed in her for wanting to find out how Sho feels. At this point, I was pondering what would happen if Sho really did steal Misao!
Lord Sho survived the warehouse collapse because he’s been feeding from a stain of Misao’s blood on his Kimono. The Senka Maiden’s blood has power to bring people back from the dead. Misao doesn’t know this until this point. “It’s your duty...to make this village thrive isn’t it?” Sho believes Misao should willingly give her blood to the villagers so the village doesn’t die out. Of course he just wants to pain her and his brother in whatever way he can. Does he succeed? You’ll have to read to find out!
“I wanted a friend...I thought I found one,” is what Kaede says to Misao when they’re discussing Kyo. At first Misao doesn’t think this is a dig at her, but by the end of the conversation I believe she sees it that way. Kaede comes across as an extremely selfish antagonist. Sho is the main villain but Kaede is very much his accomplice. Sho wants Misao as his, I believe, but Kaede just wants her gone! Will either of these things come true? You’ll have to read to find out.
Overall, I enjoyed this volume. It wasn’t as focused on the romance as other volumes have been so that’s why it only got 4 stars from me. With it not being so focused on romance, however, it allowed more of the side and background characters to shine, rather than just Misao and Kyo, which I feel previous volumes haven't really done. It’s been their story up until now. The fact that Sho appears on the cover of volume 11 may also show this.

Chulada de manga, todo lo que se va desarrollando con la relación de Kyo y Misao, la verdad hubiera preferido un pequeño capítulo para representar todos sus recuerdos de la infancia que ahora tiene presente la protagonista, pero igual no me quejo de los dibujos resumen de todo, pero si esperaba un poco más. Pero todo es recompensado por todo el drama que desencadenará Ro con la aldea. Que emoción y miedo a la vez.
En lo que respecta a la trama, creo que me ha fascinado, como nos presentan el por qué está vivo Ro, que es lo que desea, y como todo esto afectará a este grupo de yokais. Mis respetos a la autora y a todas las personas que han realizado esta historia. Temo por todos mis personajes de ocho guardianes, pero creo que ya sabemos lo que nos puede esperar entre esta división entre apoyar a uno que otro hermano.
A la vez me emociona leer, pero también me preocupa porque veremos lo que podrá hacer Ro para destruir todo lo que toca. A ver que nos espera el siguiente manga.

After all the build up with Misao's lost memories, it ended up being no big deal. It made Kyo and Misao's "love" even more perfect and amazing. I so hope they have peace. They deserve it. I wanted so much more for Sho, but after this volumes events, it makes it hard to want something more for him. I honestly wish this series was a reverse harem because Sho, Kyo, and Misao together would have been perfect. My heart can't handle anything happening to either guy but Kyo deserves Misao. He's tried to keep her safe instead of hurting her, unlike Sho. I think Sho could have been different.

I like the idea of Sho manipulating the village by offering Misao’s blood as salvation to the village people was such a good concept , and it plays in the fear of Kyo being replaced as the villages leader. Kaede is quite interesting as a character , who is very clearly motivated by Sho’s sake. I’m quite interested to see how Sho will try to break the tenth clan , specifically Hoki and Sagami ( the brothers ). Misao playing with the villages kids was very cute aswell

The stakes in this volume felt much more dire than much of the rest of the series, so there was a definite uptick in tension and the whole volume felt darker. I do wish Sho's motives were clearer, he seems to be such a damaged person but the source of his pain and his true desires are maddeningly vague. I am happy that Kyo and Misao's relationship is strong and all the attempts to undermine it failed.

Out of all of the subplots of the first arc in Black Bird, this was the strongest plot-based volume. It's what sets up the story to come. It's what I consider to be one of the strongest volumes in the entire series. Definitely a solid volume.

This Book is about a girl named Lady Misao who has forgotten her memory with other guys.In order to live the world has to be in chaos. Misao has a speacal type of blood that heels the people and others just want it because it tastes good to them. Kyo is dating Lady Misao and Kyo keeps getting her blood to stay healthly and refreshed. Sho has some type of power that makes people posessed and they forget memories that happend in the past.
I would reccomend this book to people who like action,anime,and understand how to read Japanese books.
I learned if I had to live in chaos,my life would be horrible. I also learned to pick books that you are actually into, understand what is happening, and can see the image in there head.

A fantastic installment in the Black Bird series! Our characters are currently in Kyo's home village attempting to keep the peach while denying them Misao's blood and dealing with the resurrection of Sho who has his own plans for chaos. Misao and Kyo's bond are tested many ways and yet prove themselves over and over. I was really impressed by their dedication to one another in this volume as well as the fact that Misao seems to be getting a bit smarter!
The drama is crazy right now and I am really enjoying the politics as the impending war approaches between the various demon clans. I was worried a few volumes ago that the plot seemed to be leveling off and getting a bit slow, but now it is the completely opposite. So glad I decided to keep with the series.

Un breve resumen hasta el momento: Black Bird nos habla sobre una joven llamada Misao, ella toda su vida ha podido ver espíritus y cosas raras por lo que la gente suele verla como una chica rara, ella solo ha conocido a una persona con la misma capacidad, su joven vecino llamado Kyo con el que jugaba cuando era niña y del que se enamoró, sin embargo un día Kyo se fue de su vida dejándole solo la promesa de que algún día volvería para reclamarla como esposa. Justo cuando Misao está por cumplir 16 años, Kyo vuelve y se le revela que el es un Tengu (espíritu cuervo) y que ella es un humano que nace cada 100 años, una joven a la que los espíritus Yokai denominan como Princesa del fruto sagrado y cuya sangre tiene ciertas particularidades, si un Yokai bebe su sangre curará sus heridas y enfermedades, si come su carne obtendrá la inmortalidad y si se casa con ella traéra prosperidad a su clan. Desde el regreso de Kyo el la reclama como esposa y aunque al principio Misao tiene dudas poco a poco el profundo amor que sienten el uno por el otro va ayudándoles a vencer a diversos enemigos y enfrentar varias batallas, siendo uno de sus principales enemigos el hermano mayor de Kyo: Sho. El es el heredero “original” del clan tengu pero fue vencido por su hermano menor, quién tenía el firme propósito de convertirse en el jefe del clan pues solo así podría casarse con Misao, debido a está situación (y a que el también parece tener algunos sentimientos por Misao) Sho tiene mucho resentimiento por está pareja y no duda en ponerles las cosas difíciles, usando como pretexto al clan tengu poco a poco va minando la confianza del pueblo hacía su líder, Kyo, y va generando una revolución interna. ¿Logrará triunfar el caos? ¿El amor entre Kyo y Misao perdurará?

Un breve resumen hasta el momento: Black Bird nos habla sobre una joven llamada Misao, ella toda su vida ha podido ver espíritus y cosas raras por lo que la gente suele verla como una chica rara, ella solo ha conocido a una persona con la misma capacidad, su joven vecino llamado Kyo con el que jugaba cuando era niña y del que se enamoró, sin embargo un día Kyo se fue de su vida dejándole solo la promesa de que algún día volvería para reclamarla como esposa. Justo cuando Misao está por cumplir 16 años, Kyo vuelve y se le revela que el es un Tengu (espíritu cuervo) y que ella es un humano que nace cada 100 años, una joven a la que los espíritus Yokai denominan como Princesa del fruto sagrado y cuya sangre tiene ciertas particularidades, si un Yokai bebe su sangre curará sus heridas y enfermedades, si come su carne obtendrá la inmortalidad y si se casa con ella traéra prosperidad a su clan. Desde el regreso de Kyo el la reclama como esposa y aunque al principio Misao tiene dudas poco a poco el profundo amor que sienten el uno por el otro va ayudándoles a vencer a diversos enemigos y enfrentar varias batallas, siendo uno de sus principales enemigos el hermano mayor de Kyo: Sho. El es el heredero “original” del clan tengu pero fue vencido por su hermano menor, quién tenía el firme propósito de convertirse en el jefe del clan pues solo así podría casarse con Misao, debido a está situación (y a que el también parece tener algunos sentimientos por Misao) Sho tiene mucho resentimiento por está pareja y no duda en ponerles las cosas difíciles, usando como pretexto al clan tengu poco a poco va minando la confianza del pueblo hacía su líder, Kyo, y va generando una revolución interna. ¿Logrará triunfar el caos? ¿El amor entre Kyo y Misao perdurará?

This story follows Misao, a high schooler who can see the magical creatures and spirits that are invisible to everyone else. This gift is merely an annoyance until her sixteenth birthday, when she gets attacked by a demon and discovers that she is the Senka Maiden, or bride of prophecy – a human whose blood gives unlimited power to the demon who claims her. Her childhood friend Kyo appears in time to save her, though it turns out he is a demon as well! Kyo is the leader of the Tengu (crow demon) clan, thus the name of the story. His intentions to protect her, however, seem to be pure – and Misao allows him to lick her wounds long enough to fall in love with him herself. Together they must face the challenges that come from courting the Senka Maiden, as well as the curse that befalls her once she bears the child of a demon.
This was a fantastic story! The characters were well done with bold personality traits: we can clearly see Kyo’s determination, his brother Soh’s treachery and underhandedness, the Daitengu’s loyalty, even Misao’s simultaneous naivety and bravery. And I absolutely loved the plot. Unlike Demon Spell (another manga featuring demons of Japanese culture), the story was very complete, with no detail left unexplained or unaccounted for.
*SPOILER ALERT* But my favorite part of all has to be the ending. Misao’s pregnancy is meant to lead to her death, but just when all seems to be lost, hope appears. Even if their ending isn’t perfect, it is happy, and you find yourself happy and grateful for the imperfection because it shows you how much worse things could have been.

Sho offers to return Misao's memories but does she really want to remember?
By volume 11 of this epic romantic saga I'm getting a little bored, the story is very drawn out and there's only so much of a teary eyed Miaso you can take - still the artwork is nice and Kyo is a cool hero - I just wish there was more of him in his Tengu (crow demon persona). The love triangle is really coming into play as we get a nice flashback with young Miaso's interaction with both Sho and Kyo. Sho is a great villain and its nice that his motives are still not revealed. For those who like EPIC YA paranormal romance and angst between two brothers check this series out.

Ah MMC’s brother resurrected with a forbidden spell
Damn some bad guys punted a kid like a football
Evil brother had FMC’s dried blood and was passing it out like drugs causing a revolt a bit
Evil brother admits he didn’t want to be resurrected but will enjoy the chaos he gets to make
This is finally becoming more than horny slop and is becoming a political intrigue

Sho is back!
I knew he was never gone!
A part of me is really happy he is back, but another part of me hates it because I know he will screw up all of the the happiness Kyo and Misao have. I know Misao cares for Sho very much, as does Sho, but they also know he’s very dangerous; which makes everything be put in a tight spot.
I don’t trust what Sho is planning on doing or his little servant. I will just have to wait and see what they will do. Crossing my fingers that no one will die.

I might be losing interest in this series a bit... I've been reading too many REALLY GOOD series lately, and I would say this series is only just "good". This volume was only marginally interesting to me. I feel like the characters are only making small moves around each other, and the bigger moves, like the clan conflicts and fighting and stuff, isn't being SHOWN in the art -- just talked about. It's a little disappointing. I hope something really exciting happens soon, otherwise I may drop soon. :'(

Yay! The plot is progressing, there are more questions to be answered, and the kissing scenes were really sweet touches (shows more of their relationship rather than pure MMMHM)
I'm happy with how Misao is turning out (I think she's getting stronger, little by little, as things move forward) and I just want that to keep going!
Now I gotta buy volume 12... BUT IM SO BROKE, LOL 😭

This series continues to be good. I felt there was a lot more story/goings on in this volume than the previous few volumes, just in terms of plot points, the last few volumes have felt more about emotions and plot building.
I was hoping to read more today but only got around to it later and am too tired so i'll continue tomorrow.

An equally unhinged woman named Kaede is caring for Sho since he escaped with his life. Who is the daughter of a man named Roh (The spy who disliked Kyo’s leadership). They plan attacks and try to undermine Kyo. Fun fact, in a popularity contest in Japan Misao came in seventh. Let that sink in, your main character came in seventh with her boyfriend coming in first.

This one was better than the previous few volumes. I felt more emotions put into it. It does skip some time frames around and stuff, BUT it's enjoyable and it doesn't make you feel like you're missing too much.

I just found the hard copies of this manga at a used bookstore and I have never been so happy ! I was so excited to get into reading this where I left off. This is so good and it makes my inner child so happy to read these !

For a series it's not bad. I enjoyed most parts of the story, some things were just not needed. I love all the characters. The love story is crazy but it's a book so do not take it seriously! Also, not a book for young readers.

I read this series when I was younger. It was alright. Some of it was a bit dramatic with zero real context. The female lead was annoyingly too much of a damsel in distress. I wish she would have fought her own battles more. I guess you could say this was my dip towards darker romance.
