It starts with Ren seeing Ninako go towards Toda at the train station, and he impulsively jumps off the train to stop her. His jealousy even surprises himself, and Ninako is tempted to think he might actually have feelings for her. He then admits to Manabu that he has fallen for her, and he will tell her after the Sports Festival is over,
The sports festival is lively, but Ninako’s class doesn’t win, and neither does their cheer team. Mao and Ando have to work together in a relay, and she confesses she is still in love with him, not Ando, but Ando won't be taken in by her.
There is a cheer after party after the festival, so Ren tells Ninako he’ll wait for her because he wants to tell her something, but by the time she gets back he has already left for work. Ninako impulsively calls him, saying she’s sorry she missed him and there is something she wants to tell him too. (so now they are both set to confess)
Meanwhile, Ando puts the pieces together, mainly because Manabu can’t keep his mouth shut, and he is desperate to do something to make Ninako love him before Ren confesses, but instead he gets beat up by some thugs trying to protect Ninako. He is so embarrassed he won’t even look at her, and asks her not to tell Ren. This hits Ando hard, and he’s on his way back to his apathetic ways.
When Ninako meets up with Ren she is so distraught over Ando, even though Ren’s confession is everything she’s dreamed of, she finds her self saying she’s sorry and turning him down. The timing makes it feel like she can’t accept, and so both her and Ren are let down.
Now Ando, Ren and Ninako are all feeling bad, and they're all avoiding each other. Things can’t continue this way, everyone is just so miserable. It ends with Ren walking in to their classroom after school and seeing Ninako in his seat. He wants to know why she was in his seat after she turned him down. She gives a flimsy excuse about her thinking it was her seat. This causes him to corner her and force her to look him in the eye and say that again. He says he won’t let her go till she answers him.
