Ce tome était très beau avec une amitié qui se lie entre Mei et Kaï. Néanmoins, le personnage de Megumi est exécrable. Quelle peste.

One volume is good, the other's boring and so on. What I liked here was Kai. He is very cute and right now, I am supporting him more than Yamato. Sorry Yam!

Argh! Meg-tan is evil!

When I first picked up this series and saw that our main characters came together so quickly, I wondered where the series could go from there. What I love is the absolute depth of emotion that we've wandered, and to witness the growing maturity of Mei and Yamato.

In this volume we see the damage that can be caused by building emotional ties with a member of the opposite sex when you're dating someone else. I think this whole matter was dealt with well, as Mei and Kai find that they naturally incline to lean on each other, but that this action has an impact on everyone around them. Add to that, Mei's own immaturity in wanting to hide and I'm again beyond impressed with how this was resolved, and how we could actually witness Mei's growth in the course of this volume.

Does this mean that everything is neat and tidy and resolved? Nope, not in the least. There's still a lot of growing to do, and plenty of insecurity to go around. The exploration into the depth of Megumi is something that makes the reader somewhat sympathetic to her, and sad that she just doesn't seem to 'get it. ' Jealousy is not a pretty look, Meg-tan!

that girl is really manipulative, and i hate when they give nasty characters sad backgrounds, as if that forgives their actions. anyway the characters are kinda growing up, even tho they are also stupid af, like how can you trust the same girl that tried to break up your friends? dumb teens

This series continues to be a realistic depiction of a teenage romance! The ups and downs they both feel are valid, and things we can all relate to. Please pick up this series.

Okay! I am loving Kai more than Yamato right now. Sorry, Yamato but its the truth. Kai used to get bullied and has the scars which tell the same sad story. Kai joins as a junior even though he had to be with Yamato and the others because he took time off to build himself, to become stronger. So that he would take his revenge. But upon meeting Mei his thoughts changed, even though he was confident enough to meet the bully he did not do anything. Mei's words unblurred his blurry vision. Because Mei and Kai were bullied, they connected right on and Yamato was obviously jealous. hehe! I knew that would happen, even when I saw the anime. So Megu-tan takes advantage of it and creates another havoc in Mei and Yamato's relationship.
Next volume it havoc continues and I hope it ends. I hate this Megu-tan girl, she has many problems, way more than Aiko had. UGH!

Megumi reminds me of the movie "Mean Girls". High school can really be a cruel place, when negativity and bullying is happening, especially when it's done subtly, indirectly, and in a passive aggressive way.

There were parts of the book halfway through to the end, which seemed to jump from one story or conversation into another rather impromptu. It made it difficult to follow. So I just read on taking in the story as a whole and filling in the gaps on my own.

The positive message though is still finding yourself... your own self worth... your confidence, but more importantly, not making assumptions about others and finding your own voice. It's ok to not be ok. But it's also ok to ask someone for help.

This short review will be repeated on every single volume. Previously, it sat at four stars; I was young and into dumb shit.

Because it was trendy to like books where the popular guy gets with the nerdy girl, I liked this back then. Now, I’m so over these tropes. He’s not even that great. Hell, just about everyone sucks here.

I understand that not confiding in your friends creates the drama element in this vol, but it doesn't mean I don't want to rip my hair out while reading it.

5 ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Suki-Tte Ii Na Yo a.k.a Say I Love You

A light read filled with positive messages.

(The rating and review are conclusion for all of the volumes excluding the synopsis. Beware of spoiler.)

《 Plot 》
The pace of the story is good. Although there are 18 volumes all over, it doesn’t make you lose interest in it. The story starts by introducing Mei who's a bully victim. She doesn’t have any friends because she always distances herself from people. This is because she has been betrayed by her friends back in the middle school. Ever since then, she never trusts people anymore. However, she begins to change when she gets to know Yamato. Yamato is a popular guy that has many friends and is wayyy too friendly with girls. He starts to approach Mei when she kicked him because of some misunderstanding that happened. Yamato pursues Mei every day which eventually leads them being together. The story starts to develop from there and it’s being told from Mei’s POV.

《 Characters 》
Mei Tachibana, the heroine
When Mei starts falling in love with Yamato, she feels scared of showing everything to him. I can relate to that a lot because you don't know how things will be so it's scary. There are other moments that I can relate to but I won't tell you to avoid spoiler.

At one point, Mei begins to change herself by engaging more with people around her. That's what makes her strong and kind girl. She is very observant of people around her and tries to help them the best she can. I love her character development.

Yamato Kurosawa, the hero
Yamato is a typical cool who is popular for his kindness. Despite being a cool popular guy, he still has his own flaws. There are some issues that he struggles with but didn't let people see him in that way. I wouldn't really picture him as a really good guy. He has his flaw but he learns to change little by little.

《 Pros & Cons 》
Realistic & healthy relationship
↳ There are several couples born in this comic and each of them shows what relationship is likely to be in real life especially Mei’s relationship. If you have been in a relationship, several situations that happened will make you go “Omg, I went through that too!”. On top of that, most of them are in a healthy relationship making it enjoyable to read.

Positive messages
↳ It touches the issue of bully and friendship. Although Mei has been bullied, she doesn’t retaliate at those who had betrayed her back then. It also shows that life is more wonderful with loyal companions being by your side.

The art drawn
↳ It’s not that the art are bad or anything. It’s just not really my cup of tea. I noticed that the art was changing slightly as the volume continues on. It got better in my opinion.

《 Extras 》
My favourite manga! I keep going back to this whenever I feel like reading something light and fun. This is my first manga that I read when I first started to read comic. I was so happy when I found out this comic had completed in English version. These are several quotes that I love from this story.
“Nothing makes a girlfriend more insecure than a boyfriend who's kind to everyone.”
“No matter how beautiful you are, when you're dating someone, all of your flaws come out.”
“If you want to move forward, sometimes, you can't keep doing things the way you've always done them. That peace of mind ruins you and hurts people.”
“You can get stronger by loving others and letting them love you.”

⚝ Who should read? ⚝
❥ Enjoy high school story.
❥ Love friendship theme story.
❥ Can tolerate typical “famous guy” falls for “unpopular girl”.

✎ Synopsis Volume 5
It's Yamato time to have his feelings turned upside down with the presence of new rival! On top of that, an old rival has come to strike again. Will everything between Mei and Yamato be okay?

Kai is moving his way up to being my favorite character in this series and he just showed up. He’s so sweet and tender with Mei and I really liked what he said to her about not having her whole world be revoked around Yamato. I wish Mei would get with him instead of Yamato because he’s on thin ice with me. He’s jealous of Mei spending time with Kai but has spent time with girls that were actively trying to ruin his relationship with Mei. I’m just so tired of the miscommunication. Aiko is also growing on me. I wished they kept her as a villain for awhile because honestly Megumi is just so blah….

I’m gonna continue reading this but I hate when mangas have 10+ volumes but the storylines are just dragged out. Like we could’ve had time spent on developing Mei and Yamato’s relationship before introducing another rival. P.S, I really hate the cover of this manga. It just looks really off-putting and weird.

3.5. The high point is the Kai love triangle and the low point is Megumi's deal. I konw love triangles can be a hot topic but I think it's not too bad here. It does feel a bit like it's there to create more of a longer story and some romantic drama but Kai has chemistry with Mei. It also helps I was never the biggest Mei x Yamato stan mostly due to me preferring the tackling of issues over this story's romance.
Megumi is very unlikable in this volume which makes sense as Hazuki is showing us a person who gained a very hurtful defense mechanism. It creates some good drama but I do hope it is resolved soon or some humor is added as levity is needed. I enjoy that its here as a bit of a longer story compared to the previous volumes' character of the chapter/volume. But Megumi's issue has a weak stem imo especially considering how far she's taking her jealousy to exclude Mei from everyone. Its just too intense of an issue for such a seemingly weal stem of being vaguely bullied for being poor or dirty. I get high schoolers can be inconsiderate and hurtful but I hope we get more backstory showing how the bullying was worse or how she slid into such a hurtful person.

Honestly... why does every girl want something with Yamato?? And why is that ALWAYS the reason for hating Mei??? I really love this series but this is something that really bothers me. It's annoying af and I bet this Megumi girl (who I really hate, thank you) is going to be a friend of Mei in the future just like the last time. Please don't!!! I love Mei though. She's so strong and eventhough she has all the reasons to, she won't cry. She's a power woman and my favourite character out of this series. I also really like Kai! I guess because he's pretty similar to Mei and also because he's so helpful and sympathic.

Nice! :)

I can relate to Mei. She is an introvert that doesn’t like shallow or superficial individuals around her and she calls them out for their actions. She also has traits that may suggest that she has anxiety and depression. It seems like she enjoys being alone but having Yamato around has shaken her world and has left it unpredictable. Yamato is a great guy for Mei, she just doesn’t know how to express her feelings for him well, yet. Can’t wait to read the next volume. :)

*3.5*

Megumi sucks. She's just being a bitch at this point for no real reason. I can't fathom why she wouldn't just give up on a guy that clearly rejected her. I know it's hard to not like someone anymore, but that doesn't make what she's doing to Mei okay. She's is literally the worst, at least she's adding some spice to the story though lolol.

I really appreciate having the main female character be an introvert, especially in a manga as I have rarely seen that. It just adds another layer of relatability to Mei, not just for me, but for other readers as well.

The way I KNEW that Megumi girl was gonna be a two faced bitch so annoying seriously leave mei alone she didn’t do shit to you it’s not her fault your crush doesn’t want you and trying to sabotage her relationships with not only her boyfriend, but also her friends is crazy behavior for a guy you met like what? A month ago?? Anyways I like kais character I had a feeling he’d develop feelings for Mei but idk he hasn’t done anything crazy or acted on them so far so I can’t be mad at him idk I just hope they have a cute platonic relationship in the future

How can you be in a relationship and just ignore each other like this? If it's a first fight it might be understandable, but come on they've been together for almost a year now. Their relationship is so frustrating. Just talk to each other! Also Mei is just a meek girl at this point and how they both handle jealousy in this co-dependant relationship, ugh. I just don't want to read any of this anymore. I read a lot of problematic shoujo, but this one really stands out...

Well we have the conniving Megumi who plays with Mei's insecurities and we have Kai who is (a great friend tbh) starting to like Mei... Obviously tears are shed and significant others are ignored and make up hugs are shared and then the volume wraps up!

It's very easy to lose track of time when reading this manga...

I really liked how we got to know Kai a little bit more in this volume.
Mei confronted her feelings about being adequate for Yamato and her new friend group. There was also some adversity towards Mei which led to her secluding herself, but Kai reached out and helped.

The mean girl realness in on point. I'm so sick of Meg. She has to go, and poor Mei, doesn't have the experience to handle her. I really appreciated seeing her struggle with expressing herself. How many times have we bitten our tongue about how we truly feel and suffered for it later?

This one doesn’t have very good transitions between scenes or scene setups. I thought I had missed a panel or page.

Also I was kinda of upset that Yamato decided not to confront either mei or Kai with what megumi I said to him. Instead he pulls away from mei.
