Horror Has a New Address! Welcome to Evil Heights. For young Lee Coombs, the sweltering summer of 1960 will be a time of change, first love ... and horror! After his grandmother's death, Lee's family moves into her old house on old Seminole Road. Isolated from the rest of town by Broaddus Marsh, the train wrecking yard and the Yalahalla River, Lee's new home is just down the road from the Cherry Heights Mansion. Brooding behind a grove of ruined cherry trees, the evil presence at Cherry Heights hearkens back to a cannibalistic Union Army captain and a psychopathic Indian chief who terrorized the area long before the first white settlers arrived. These days, old Mrs. Ballard, the only living occupant of Cherry Heights, spends every waking hour alone in an empty, stifling room, staring at the back door as if waiting for something to emerge. Lee's summer-which began with sandlot baseball games, tubing on the river, and a new girlfriend as precocious as she is cute-takes a terrifying turn when one night his stepmother sends him out on an errand into the darkness of Seminole Road. After Mrs. Ballad hires Lee to resod her formal garden, Lee discovers a glass eye amongst the statues, fountains and roses. Staring into the strange piece of polished porcelain forges a connection to the past horrors that plagued Cherry Heights. By bringing it into his home, Lee may have unleashed an unspeakable evil.
