As with most people during these very uncertain and even scary times, I’m stuck at home and trying desperately to find ways to fight off boredom.
I was lucky when I found a digital version of the first 20 editions of Lustiges Taschenbuch. The publisher began publishing them way before I was born and when I was introduced to them (at an early age), there were about 30 years worth of editions I had missed.
So, here I was, sitting comfortably on my couch, ready to embark on this historic journey.
And…I don’t think I will continue with them.
I didn’t mind that only a handful of frames contained colour, but I had a problem with the ratios within each frame.
I felt overwhelmed by the size of the characters relative to their surroundings and the actions shown on the frames. The characters took up most of the frames, while the background was barely visible.
Also, a lot of the frames were filled with hectic actions that made the stories feel super rushed and on edge.
I felt rushed and on edge. I wasn’t even sure what most of the stories were supposed to be about. They were disorganized and without any clear narrative direction.
Overall, I have to say a lot has changed since the beginning days of Lustiges Taschenbuch. I believe much has changed regarding the accepted style of comic artistry and story telling through sequential art.
It was certainly interesting to see the humble beginnings of this series, which I have been reading for as long as I can remember.
But sadly, I’m going to stop reading the early editions for now.

Das allererste LTB - ein Muss für alle Fans also. Die Geschichten sind zum größten Teil noch schwarz-weiß und wirken doch recht antiquiert. Trotzdem ein schöner Einstieg in eine große Serie mit laaaanger Tradition.

Nette nostalgische Duck-Stories, allerdings nervt das schwarz-weiß alle zwei Seiten etwas. Das Konzept dahinter habe ich noch nie ganz verstanden, konnte das wirklich so viel günstiger sein?
Der Kolumbusfalter ist ein echter Klassiker, die anderen drei Geschichten fallen aber etwas ab.

Ich habe mir vor kurzem die sogenannte Nostalgie-Sammelbox mit den ersten 10 Bänden im Oldschool Style-Nachdruck besorgt - und da muß ich jetzt durch!
Wie die anderen Rezensenten hier sagen sind die Geschichten tatsächlich etwas antiquiert und noch nicht sonderlich ausgefuchst, aber das macht nichts. Der Patina-Charme macht das wieder wett. Mal abgesehen davon habe ich einen Fetisch für Uralt-Geschichten die sich das Jahr 2001 ausmalen.
Die einzige Halbwegsgurke in diesem Band ist "Die Zebramuschel" - Eine Story die in etwa so uninteressant ist wie sie klingt und bis zum Ende vor sich hinplätschert. Aber das macht nichts, sie geht zum Glück zwischen den anderen Stories unter.
Außerdem enthalten: Die erste in einer langen Reihe von berüchtigten Vorgeschichten und Zwischenspielen die mich damals als Kind schon irritiert haben und deswegen zwangsläufig dazugehören.
Dann mal wohlan zu den nächsten 9 Bänden!

Die Lustigen Taschenbücher waren damals überall zu finden, jeder hatte welche und so konnte man alle lesen ohne selber alle zu besitzen.
Die Geschichten sind einfach, ich bin ziemlich sicher sie schon vor der Grundschule "gelesen" zu haben, erste Leseerfahrung mit Bumm, Zack, Peng!
Meinen eigenen Kindern habe ich die LTB nicht mehr gekauft, um Disney kommt man kaum herum, aber die klassischen LTB transportieren schon ein seltsames Weltbild - vom ewigen Verlierer Donald, dem erfolgreichen "Kapitalisten" Dagobert, usw. dabei ist alles beliebig, der Ort (Entenhausen) ist kompatibel mit allen Verkaufsländern und die Geschichten und Figuren sind ohne Erinnerung und Entwicklung, so können die immer gleichen Geschichten ad infinitum wiederholt werden. Ein Konzept, welches Disney bis zur Perfektion weiterentwickelt hat.
Die "klügere" Alternative waren die Fix & Foxy-Bände, die zwar im Grunde ziemlich dreiste Kopien waren, aber intelligentere Figuren und Dialoge hatten.
Eigentlich nur 1 Stern, aber 2 Sterne stellvertretend für die besseren Phantomias-Bände.

Der Titelgebende Kolumbusfalter ist ein Klassiker, die anderen Geschten sind einfach nur dröge. Warum gab es eigentlich diese Rahmenhandung? Die ist doch bestimmt nur dazu da gewesen, das Buch möchglist dick zu machen.

Der Start einer der meistverkauftesten und besten buchserien, ich persönlich habe die Originalausgabe von 1967 zuhause und muss sagen es is immer wieder schön diese rarität aufzuschlagen
