Before you can start with Alien Surrender You really should read first ALIEN BEST MAN.

When Jana leaves Earth to get married, she discovers that her fiancé has kept a secret. On his planet, the groom isn’t the only one having sex with the bride. It’s the best man’s privilege too.
The already met the best man in a previous meeting what went a little out of control. But after that incident the man disappears the next day and she met the man who took over the notations and she fell in love with him.

The best man takes what he wants—and he wants Jana. In his bed, she embraces both males and her darkest desires. And she experiences how pleasurable the use of a riding crop can be when wielded by a dominant alien.

The groom and Best Man are each other opposites. Where the one is gentle and loving the other is harsh and more dominating in bed and around. Maybe a little to harsh. Some dominating is fun for a lot of people to read about. But the pain level is a little to high in this book. The excuse of the main character is that she likes pain. But what the hellI would have kicked hiss ass three ways to the other side. The main character is in a previous relations ship cut up with a knife... three times guessing what the bad site of this threesome takes with him to bed. And the the so-called loving man just watching without interrupting?? Hard to believe.

You have to enjoy to hardcore to continue this one.

This story continues with the stand alone sequel ALIEN SURRENDER.

I'm reviewing this, mostly because I've been told by a friend that I 'have to' review everything I read or it doesn't count toward my yearly goal. So, here goes- a short review for a short story.

Alien Best Man was well-written. I've read stories this short where the lack of plot destroys the heat and makes the sex scenes very mechanical and dull. The smut here was great - scorching. I love a m/m menage story that doesn't turn into 'hawt boysex while the heroine sits by and watches the hawt boysex'. Not that there's anything wrong with some hot m/m action, but well-written 'sandwiches' are just lovely. Oh, and btw, it's a 1st person POV story, which I normally am not crazy about (especially with the sex scenes), but this was well-executed and clearly I almost forgot it was 1st person, so kudos to the author.

The not-so-great: First off, what's with the title? I was a little mortified to put it on my Goodreads list for that reason alone. Not sure if they were trying to take the clumsy and literal approach that Harlequin takes with their 'Millionaire Tycoon, Innocent Mistress's Baby' line or what, but yeesh. Alien. Best. Man. Really? Also, the length. It felt like a huge section was cut out in order to make it a 'short story,' when I would have liked to have seen more development between the first chapter and the rest of the story. Instead, we see a glimpse of some random hot guy and the next thing you know, our heroine is getting ready to marry Qay, who is not the random hot guy, and who the hell is Qay, anyway? I get that it was a short story, but I really think the missing parts would have worked and it could have been a decent novelette. Lastly, the price. I know this isn't the author's fault, but I really take issue with Ellora's Cave's pricing. I was feeling charitable and spendy and wanted to pad my ebook bucks on All Romance eBooks with their rebate sale when I got this story which, btw, is less than 50 pages once you get past the cover and technical info. But ultimately I paid for this smutlett what I often pay for a full novel in other places. And frankly, the quality was just 'all right.' It wasn't some sparkling, priceless gem of prose, and even if it had been, I can't see paying more than a dollar (MAYBE two dollars) for 50 pages even if it's Shakespeare.

Earth is in the midst of trade negotiations with a planet by the name of Dezra. The earthling fronting those negotiations is Jana, who after a horseback ride gone wrong, has lost her job with the trade confederation, but not before falling in love with an alien from Dezra by the name of Qay. She agrees to marry him and live with him on Dezra, but this matrimonial ceremony is not complete until she goes through a few alien “traditions” to include Qay's best man.

The characters in this story have their own distinct 'voices' and personalities. You have Jana the earthling who is naive when it comes to the traditions of Dezra, but willing to give anything a try with no hesitation if it means the end result will be Qay. Then there’s Qay who is completely in love with Jana and expresses those feelings clearly through his words and gentle actions. Last is Zyn who is possibly the most dominant character I ever read. His words and actions towards Jana are both harsh and aggressive, yet he is able to fulfill a need that Jana didn't know existed until he was 'traditionally forced' upon her.

This was my first read by Amy Redwood and I have to admit that I was expecting a little more. Maybe it was just that this was meant to be a quick story and there wasn't enough time for world building, but it didn't capture me as much as I was hoping it would. This by no means will stop me from checking out the rest of her work since I've seen some great feedback on other stories she's written. It could also be that in this particular story Jana is completely submissive and I prefer heroine's that aren't. Some is fine, but not complete submission and this could just be a reflection on my own personality.

Recommended reading for fans of quickie BDSM menage stories with one very submissive earthling, one very dominant king, and his somewhere in the middle, second in command.

OMG. This is one hot read. I didn't want to like it when I first started reading it. For one thing, it's written in 1st person which I don't usually like. But I didn't even notice after the first paragraph. Secondly, an alien race that is human-like except for skin color doesn't seem realistic, but hey, I do it in my own writing. It's reminiscent of very early Star-Trek and like any paranormal, you have to set aside reality, right? Besides, the development of the story really had me hooked the whole time.
Jana really loves her husband-to-be Qay and she sticks to her guns on that even when the seductive yet threatening Zyn fulfills her dark fantasies. Qay is a calm, sweet and loving soul while Zyn's commanding presence would make any girl lay down and take whatever he wanted to dish out. (And he is one naughty boy!) Loved them both. All three characters well done.
I'm usually really picky but I found no plot holes, no inconsistencies, and it was hot, hot, hot. If I had to pick a flaw (and I'm reaching here), it would have to be setting--not a lot of detail. Not that I really noticed or cared during the read.
Definitely buy this one. Of course, you have to like menage and light BDSM. :)

This is an erotic science fiction quickie that takes the reader to another planet. The alien world that the author has created is intriguing and leaves room for lots of possibilities. And while it was a great short and fast read, I feel that there was something missing but this is probably due to it being too short.

This was not really a romance...well not really. Good writing style but too short and basically just alot of sex. Yawn. Shame on me for reading it. But friends say it's good, and I believe them. I do like alien romance novels...they are like candy to me. And the idea with this story is appealing. I just wish it had a little more umph.

Whew and hot damn! For a short story this is incredibly intense, well written and thoroughly engaging. I didn't enjoy the humiliation aspects of the bdsm scene played out later in the book between Jana and Zyn but that was the only slight turn off for me and it is completely personal. Very enjoyable.

This book was SO hot! Wow! I didn't expect the BDSM. Maybe I should have read the blurb a bit better, but it was a nice surprise. I would have liked a bit more character development in the beginning, but other than that this book was a wonderful read.
