Some 3,700 years ago an Egyptian High Priest was mummified and entombed alive and cursed for all eternity. In the 1920s, dashing American Rick O'Connell, accidentally discovers the Lost City of the Dead. But the ancient curse of the Mummy is not dead. A heart-stopping adventure story based on the hugely successful 1999 film.

To be fair, the writing isn’t anything phenomenal… I’m giving it the high rating for the sake of the films 😂 BUT there were some nice extra tidbits of information thrown into the story that we don’t get in the film (perhaps cut to save on time?) The story is pretty fast-paced to keep a young reader engaged, but some content isn’t exactly “kid friendly” (i.e. mummifying people alive, self harm, gruesome murders, gun fights). It’s barely toned down from the movie in terms of content, so if you’re deciding whether or not your young reader is ready for this book, ask yourself if you would allow them to watch the film. Basically it’s more of a young adult novelization than a junior novelization. The set of images from the movie are great!
Pamiętam, że ta książka miała taką wklejkę ze zdjęciami z filmu i jedno z nich mnie mega przerażało! Myślałam, że mi robale z książki wylecą normalnie.
This was a fun read. A super quick version of the film, with some additional lines and actions that don't appear in the movie. I can see why they edited the movie differently. This junior novelisation read very much like a screenplay. There was one moment when Rick was a bit too cocky, which is the right level when Brendan Fraser does it. I've owned this book for about 25 years and went yo see it at the cinema a few weeks back which was also a lot of fun (even if I started to doze off towards the end as it was past my bedtime) Rick and Evie will probably always be my favourite fictional couple. I love the sarcastic comments in the first movie and of course, the heroics.
4 stars mainly for being a book version of my favourite movie.
