I read this at the recommendation of a doula I met with. Overall, it's a great comprehensive book that covers nearly everything imaginable regarding labor, birth, breastfeeding, etc. However, the information could have been more detailed and in-depth, especially in regard to some of the more controversial topics such as foreceps and amniotomy. My first baby was a preemie and I also wish that at least one of the birth stories included told the story of preterm labor and delivery. All in all it's a quick read full of mostly helpful information.
A freebie from my OB/GYN. Nothing special. That didn’t stop me from reading it while I was pregnant - nervousness had me reading everything about pregnancy and birth that I owned, plus way too many birth stories & pregnancy blogs from the internet.
This is such an incredible workbook. Completely up to date on research, with basic info about labor progress, comfort measures and interactive activities for mama and partner, including fun games. I would like to find out more about this group and see if I can get this book for all of my doula clients!!
A book from North Kansas City hospital that Melissa gave to me from her class. It was full of great information in a condensed format. Great book for her to pass on to me, especially since we didn’t take a class ourselves.
I really like this book. It's informative, helpful, and takes a pretty balanced approach to natural childbirth. It's also very easy to read because of how it's organized. It contains several helpful charts for mommy and labor partner to use before, during, and after the big event.
This book was the course book for our Lamaze class. I didn't find myself referring back to it a whole lot, but the class itself was very helpful and prepared us well for labor and delivery.
