This is an incredibly thorough and well documented book that should be required reading for anyone interested in the role of the Christian church in keeping women from being fully accepted as leaders in society.

A wide-ranging and instructive book. I found especially illuminating the chapters on the NT and on metaphor.

Though it was a bit heady and hard to read, the author offers some fascinating observations on perspectives of gender. I only finished about half.
