Solid academic work on geographer Carl Ritter.
The book is divided in two parts. Firs part is focused on biography of famous German geographer. The second part tries to point out why his enormous work was so influential in developing geography in XIX century. The first part is concise and informative. Unfortunately the second part is not on pair with first. At times it's confusing und the text seems underdeveloped.
I would recommend this short book only to scholars who are just starting their research on Ritter.
