Caroline Cooney knew in sixth grade that she wanted to be a writer when "the best teacher I ever had in my life" made writing her main focus. "He used to rip off covers from The New Yorker and pass them around and make us write a short story on whichever cover we got. I started writing then and never stopped!"
When her children were young, Caroline started writing books for young people -- with remarkable results. She began to sell stories to Seventeen magazine and soon after began writing books. Suspense novels are her favorites to read and write. "In a suspense novel, you can count on action."
To keep her stories realistic, Caroline visits many schools outside of her area, learning more about teenagers all the time. She often organizes what she calls a "plotting game," in which students work together to create plots for stories. Caroline lives in Westbrook, Connecticut and when she's not writing she volunteers at a hospital, plays piano for the school musicals and daydreams!

I’ve recently discovered a few blogs and podcasts that cover the Point Horror series, I had so many of these as a teenager but can’t really the plots.
So I’ve decided to start re-reading them all again.
This collection of stories was a great way to read through another three in the series...

The Perfume
Dove couldn’t help but buy a bottle of Venom after seeing an advert for the perfume in a newspaper, but little did she know that it was about to unleash her evil twin.
One of the weirder Point Horror’s, but the conflict between the two sides made for a great read. These sort of stories the range does so well.

Silent Witness
Lucy is asked to help clear through her dead neighbour Allen’s stuff, she is welcome to pass the various items to friends that want a keepsake to remember him by.
A video tape catches Lucy’s attention and decided’s she wants to keep it, but there’s something on the tape that someone doesn’t want anyone to see.
They will go to great lengths to make sure it doesn’t go public.

I absolutely loved this one, the story still feels relevant today. Maybe change the VHS tape to a USB stick, but it could easily be adapted into a movie today.

The Phantom
People start spotting star quarterback Reggie Westerman around the school a year after he’s death. Reggie was killed accidentally during a match the previous year. Is he’s spirt out to seek revenge and is that spot on the team now cursed?
After a promising start this story was slightly underwhelming.

I liked how it tackled Jilly’s grief as she was dating Reggie at the time and how it impacted the whole school.
I liked the image of the American Footballer stalking the school, but the story felt poorly expected.
Probably the weakest Point Horror I’ve read to date.
