Nearly drowning in an icy lake isn't Whiskey Mattimoe's favorite way to celebrate the season. Neither is finding the mayor dead at Magnet Springs' annual Ice Fishing Jamboree. And then there's the problem of locating Chester, her precocious eight-year-old charge, who has run away...or was he kidnapped? This is how Whiskey, an eternally disheveled, mid-thirties realtor, is drawn into another rollicking adventure with her purse-stealing Afghan hound. Other eccentric characters abound in this Michigan resort town, such as the police chief with a gift for tuning into the town's magnetic energy and the adorable vet with an unfortunate speech impediment. Amid the uproar, Whiskey also makes a surprising discovery that -- for the first time since her husband's death -- she's ready to dip her toes into the whimsical waters of love again.

This is the second novel in the series of real estate company owner, Whiskey and her family/friends that find themselves among murder, identity theft, kidnapping and dog-napping. What is going on in peaceful resort town of Magnet Springs, Michigan besides the annual ice fishing festival? A lot!

Whiskey and Abra have now been joined by grand-babies and pups. Former spouses and even a redeemed convict that by coincidence had stabbed Whiskey's husband nine years earlier are in the vicinity. Chester, finds his complete family (some not so nice,) and the twins father enters the picture.

All this going on while the Mayor gets killed. And I didn't even mention the animal rights groups.

What really got me is the constant humor running throughout this book. I love chuckling through and I'm sure Whiskey needs my help in solving these mysteries...ok, not.

Pick up the series and set back to enjoy!

Book 2 in the Whiskey Mattimoe Mysteries. This book finds Whiskey solving several mysteries at once. Chester is declared missing, Mayor Gil is found murdered in a fish shanty, and Whiskey's spiteful stepdaughter, Avery, calls frantically when her twins are kidnapped! All of the wonderful characters have returned, as well as a few great additions, to help her search for clues. I just love this series and it has many laugh out loud moments!!!

Read twice, once in October 2007 and once in April 2008. I read it a second time because the third book came out in April and I wanted to read them all at once...I also really like this series.

I had to stop reading this to take it back to the library for mending. Bah! As soon as it is fixed I plan to continue reading it because Nina Wright has a very entertaining writing style.

I got bored. Is it just me?

Less believable. And can she pass out more often? Hello!

Whiskey seems like a wuss and who can be a fan?
