This collection of inspirational short stories focus on a special love being the reason for the season. Includes Gifts of Grace by Lynn Bulock, One Special Christmas by Irene Hannon, and I'll Be Home for Christmas by Lenora Worth.
I thoroughly enjoyed all three stories in this collection. These are all Christmas themed stories about overcoming difficult circumstances, and learning to let go, let God, and to truly embrace the blessings God sends your way. Are the stories themselves perchance a little sugary? Yes, they are. But in a world going as nuts as it is, it's rather nice to read a few stories about good people, who follow and worship God to the best of their abilities, who want to live good lives, and truly learn to embrace the gift of love in their lives. I love my happy endings, and this collection has three!
I cannot take another page of this book. I thought that surely the second story could not be as bad as the first story. There was a slight improvement, but not much better. I couldn't finish the first story and have given up on the second one. I won't even attempt the third. I got so tired of the "I'm so attracted to him (or her depending on whose thoughts I was reading) but I could never marry him...." mentality. Sharing that the characters had those thoughts a few times was okay, but over and over and over was a tad much for me. Talk about repetitious. And from what I did read of the stories there was a lack of plot. The first chapter or two of each story started out well and then things went downhill from there. I have better things to read than this mindless drivel.
Very much enjoyed all three of the books in this collection. Each one just got better. It was a lovely, quick read right before Christmas. Highly recommend. 4.5 stars.
