The latest in AMG’s Coffee Cup Bible Study Series, Kona with Jonah is a four-week study designed for group or individual use that includes guided Bible study on the weekdays and applicational devotionals on the weekends.
Dr. Sandra Glahn is a professor at Dallas Theological Seminary. She is the author or co-author of more than twenty-five books, including Nobody's Mother: Artemis of the Ephesians in Antiquity and the New Testament and her forthcoming work (August 2026), A Woman's Place Is in the Story: Seeing Women in the Biblical Narrative.
An easy, convenient study that I had no trouble keeping up with or looking forward to. I enjoyed having the text inside the text and appreciated the opportunity to take a new look at an old, short story. (There's definitely more there than I first realized!)
I really love this Bible study series and highly recommend it. The format works well for self study or a group study. This was the deepest dive I’ve done into the book of Jonah and found it to be really insightful.
The subject of the study was good. It is very repetitive with reading the book of Jonah over and over. I can see how reading it several times would be beneficial but it was little to much. I did gather new understanding about God's character and Jonah's character that without several readings of the text would be easy to miss. My group is trying to decide if we would like to do another one of her studies.
Quite a good book study! I like how things are broken down in chunks that can be done in small increments. I will be doing more of her studies in the future.
