TC Matson brings us an all new small town, grumpy sunshine standalone love story.

“When I look at you, I see someone whose storm made them bend, but never break. When I look at me, I am the storm.”

Morgan
Eight years of marriage and a beautiful son didn’t stop my husband from walking out on us.
He got the house, all the money, and a girlfriend.
I got the SUV, a few boxes of things, and our son.
I’m starting over and it’s terrifying.
A new town. A new job. A new home.
My goal is to care for my son and give him a semblance of normality while I pick up my broken pieces and mend my shattered self-esteem.
The last thing I expected was for my tattoo-covered landlord to nestle his way into my heart.
He’s broody and quiet, all grunts and head nods.
Letting him close means opening myself back up to the potential of getting hurt.
I’ve got my son to think about.
So why do I lie in bed at night thinking of him?

Callen
My demons haunt me. They run through my veins.
I accepted long ago that my life will never have a happy ending.
My gray world will never have any color.
Until her.
The strong, single mother with eyes the color of sapphire gems.
All the colors in her world shine a light into my damaged and broken soul.
But I’m incapable of giving her love and affection—all the things she deserves.
My secrets will have her running away.
However, that doesn’t stop me from wanting to stain her world with my darkness.
Taint it with gray.
Little do I know, she’s the very air I didn’t know I needed.

A wonderful romance read with minimal drama and amazing characters!! Especially Colby, Morgan’s little 3 y.o. son, who was a fabulous sweetheart!!! 💞

It was very well written, however the very slow burn lessened my enthusiasm…

I will definitely read the next part of this series.

Show Me the Way featured main characters who had some healing to do, whether they thought they could or not. Morgan (h) is a newly divorced single mom of a 3 year old Colby, moving to the same small town as her older brother because her ex has left her with almost nothing. She gets a job and after almost a year, is in a place where she hopes to rent a house, which is where Callen (H) comes into the picture as he owns a home he'd like to rent to a single mom because of some of the demons of his past. Written in first person, dual POV. No ow drama (although a couple of h's friends hit on H in front of her, she's told them she's not ready for anything but does get jealous - H ignores them barely reacts), tiny om drama from h's ex who she wouldn't pour water on if he was on fire, and neither are virgins (brief info given on how H's normal hookups go but nothing on page and h had only ever been with her ex).

Morgan is a waitress at a diner and Callen works with his brother on rental properties, mainly fixing them up and maintenance. Callen has a dark childhood and has trouble sleeping and also believes he won't ever get a HEA for himself. Even though Morgan's had a rough time, she's all sweetness and light (and an amazing mom), plus Colby is adorable, so Callen is suddenly inundated with cute moments and impromptu bonding as he continues to fix up the house while they've moved in. There's also loads of mutual attraction between Morgan and Callen with heated stares and intense longing. This is a slow burn as Morgan's not sure if she's ready and Callen doesn't think he deserves good things. I did get frustrated with Morgan sometimes, but she has friends there to talk some sense into her. Same with Callen, he has a hard time being vulnerable and sharing his feelings, but he has a sweet relationship with an older diner owner who he talks to and he also gets some advice from his mom.

For those that like the parenting moments in single parent books, this one has a bunch, including moments where Callen spends quality time with Colby. All the cuteness and it extends to Callen taking care of Morgan too. In addition to the cuteness, there are spicy scenes once Morgan and Callen start giving in to their chemistry. The physical side of their relationship occurs before they communicate, so there are some harder conversations about what they're doing. Although it's slow burn, there are a few steamy scenes in the book.

I'm not sure how many side characters may get their own books in this series, but I want several of them. Morgan's brother was awesome, his friend (who's like a brother to Morgan too) was great, and then Morgan had a couple friends, including her best friend, who were excellent and seemed like they'd make great main characters. Morgan's boss was a great example for her as a former single parent who gave her a chance with a job. There are some less amazing side characters in Morgan's mom and her ex, both of whom are energy draining jerks whenever they get page time.

While the book is paced well, esp given that Morgan and Callen both have to overcome some mental hurdles before actively pursuing their relationship, the writing style didn't entirely work for me. I'm in a weird mood and sometimes word choices or repetition would take me out of the moment. Overall though, Morgan, Callen, and Colby won me over and this was a smooth read with characters who have to grow and open themselves up to change and chance to see what they can be together (spoiler: they can be perfect together).

I loved their HEA and that there are two epilogues, one a year later and then another two years later. Left me with a gigantic smile on my face and all the warm fuzzies.

Trigger warning:

Callen stole my heart. Show Me the Way follows Morgan right after she and her 3 year old son, Colby, are kicked out of her home with the divorce papers still drying. She escapes to a small beach-front town where her brother lives. When looking for a new place to live, she happens on a perfect house owned and being renovated by Callen, her soon-to-be grumpy tattooed landlord.

This book was such good read. Morgan endured a lot of verbal abuse from her ex. After leaving him, she grows stronger and stronger and Callen right there next to her. He has a dark and damaging past and thinks he’s unworthy of love. But the two of them work through their shit and end up being perfect for each other.

Read if you like
✨ single parent
✨ small town
✨ grumpy x sunshine
✨ slow burn
✨ tragic pasts

I really loved how this was a slow-burn despite it not being very long. The subtle way Morgan and Callen developed their relationship despite so much chemistry made this much more enjoyable than if it was an insta-love. This was pretty low angst aside from Callen having his own demons and Morgan having just ending her marriage.

Callen was an amazing H and was pretty damn perfect. I can't really think of any criticism. Morgan's brother, his friend Lance, and Penny were all amazing in supporting her, but hands down, best supporting character goes to Penny. She got real with Morgan at a crucial moment and that's what a true bff would do.

I think my only critique is how ott asshole they made two of the characters. There's no way people can be that horrible. It was like every moment they opened their mouth, something mean would come out. It made for some satisfying shutdown moments, but it was pretty extra.

Overall, a very sweet and enjoyable read. I would highly recommend giving it a go.

★★★★★. I think this was by far the best single mom book I’ve read in such a long time. Not only did it focus on the fmc healing by herself but also involved the child and the mom being a mom! The child was the priority and I loved it so much.

Callen was perfect. This man did everything for Morgan and Colby RIGHT AWAY. He made sure they had appliances since she couldn’t afford them. He built the play set for Colby. Taught him how to surf. He made sure Morgan knew her insecurities from the ex husband was all on the ex. He made them chicken soup (went to his mom for help) when they were sick and stayed with Colby while Morgan was sleeping. His backstory though? Heartbreaking. I haven’t read a backstory like this and the author did it so well. Thank you for adding in the therapy because not a lot of authors do anymore. I was so happy he got his own happy ending and how he was not letting Colby’s biological father leave without knowing he was going to be Colby’s DAD.

Morgan was the best mom, friend, sister and girlfriend to Callen. She was everything. She made sure everything she did was for Colby and only Colby. I loved how the author put in Morgan’s concern for Colby’s safety constantly and her protective instincts because i don’t see it often with single moms in books. Morgan didn’t accept “hand outs” from her brother or Callen but she knew when her fight was over and accepted the help when she needed it the most. I loved her showing Callen he was worth love and a happy ending. Her backstory and how the ex and her mother were so degrading towards her was disgusting. The car accident? I sobbed. She was going to be there for her son and that was it! Colby the most adorable little boy ever. A 3-5 year old who was actually written like one too!

For my safety readers, extremely safe. Morgan’s friends flirt with Callen but Callen doesn’t even talk to them he simply ignores and just looks longingly at Morgan. We get a line or two on his “love” life but nothing more. Morgan we get obviously a little more lines cause she was married but she didn’t miss her ex or anything.

If you love a single mom and a quiet, broody man. This book is for you. I just loved all the sweet scenes… he was grumpy without being rude. He was the perfect man honestly. They both had amazing character growth to be able to have the healthy relationship they truly deserved. I ate this book up.

“Maybe we’re two broken pieces meant to be together to make a whole.”

Show Me The Way is the beautiful sweet story of a tender and healing romance between two broken damaged souls, who find strength and comfort from each other. After a messy horrible divorce with her husband, literally leaving her with nothing to her name, Morgan and her three-year old son, Colby move to a small town where her brother lives, in the hopes to restart her life. There, she meets Callen, her silently broody handsome landlord, who gently and with all the care in the world, reminds her that she is perfect and loved just the way she is.

This was a lovely quick read, filled with all the essentials of a sweet small town romance. The slow burn, the well-meaning and lovable group of friends, the supportive caring bosses and most of all, a kind-hearted ruggedly gorgeous soul that never hesitates to remind you that you are the best just as you are. *sighs dreamily* Seeing Morgan get the happiness and comfort that she so desperately needed after being abandoned so horribly by her husband was the icing on the cake of this lovely read. Morgan and Callen were both very likable characters and I enjoyed seeing their mutual attraction slowly grow into something even more passionate and meaningful.

And Callen, ohh, he was a passionate lover, for sure. 😍😍😍 The sex scenes had just the right amount of spice that fit well with the tone of the story, as well as their personalities. When he said, “You sounded and felt like what I’ve imagined heaven would.” my heart soared with happiness as he let down his own walls to allow someone to bring color into his life. 💓💓

I adored how he was always so gracious with his gentle reassurances to Morgan that she should love how she is and that he was always there to lend a helping hand with Colby. His scenes with her son were so adorably precious - I just wanted them to be one happy family and I was so elated when that is exactly what happened and more!

And we don't talk about her ex-husband - ugh, what a little shit he was, the absolute worst. 😠😠
Just remembering all the horrid words he threw at Morgan, the disregard to his son...I know it's the author's intention to portray him as the scum of the earth so Morgan can regain her own self-confidence with Callen's love and the support of her newfound family here, but uff..Just reading and remembering the horrid words he threw at Morgan, the complete disregard to his son, I'd say 'good riddance!' 😤😤😤

╰┈➤ No info on the H last time.
╰┈➤ The h was only with her ex-husband (they were together for 8 years).
╰┈➤ The h has been celibate for a while (probably been a year or more).
— Slight OW:
The h’s friends tries hitting on the H but he couldn’t care less, he’s only has eyes for the h.
— OM:
The h’s ex called her and started insulting her, calling her a b¡tch! (That short scene had my blood boiling… what a worthless jerk). Near the end he showed up trying to win her back but both MCs put him in his place. Anyway the ex is out of the picture and wants nothing to do with his son.
— No cheating between the MCs

IM GONNA CRY😭😩

CALLEN…MORGAN…AND COLBY STOLE MY HEART.

Someone sedate me, help me, pour an ice bucket of water on me. Something to help bring me back down to the reality that these characters aren’t real😢

These three stole my heart, and I’m thinking I need to lure them with snickerdoodle cookies to possibly get it back🙈

Callen…😩this man! GAH! He’s tattooed, grumpy, HOT.

He doesn’t think he’s deserving of love. His trauma inflicted past has caused him to not believe in happy endings or that love is ever going to be in his life…

But then🥹

Our sweetheart Morgan comes into the picture, she’s divorced and a single parents from an embarrassment of a man that doesn’t deserve to even eat shit because that would be too kind. she’s moved and her landlord is none other than Mr. hunky, sexy, Callen…

This is definitely more of a slow burn, nothing really happens til the half way mark, which I loved, it was important to the story and the pace of how both characters were still dealing with things internally that wouldn’t allow them to take a next step into love/happiness.

It was just so satisfying to see these beautiful souls finding that love they secretly craved for themselves, they find peace within each other, with also a scorching fire brewing beneath with the absolute wanting they have for one another.

They face difficult conversations, and they handled it wonderfully. (And that wonderful communication had us not having a third act breakup😏which we love)

Callens relationship with the cute little ball of adorable-ness that is Morgan’s three old old son, was just the sweetest thing. I swooned, cried, and squealed.

I’m incredibly grateful to have gotten an arc of this book because on valentine Pr in exchange for an honest review! Thank you for having me find a new fav read.

Mark those damn colanders folks, pre-order, count down the seconds via antique clock is that’s what ya fancy! Just READ THIS when it comes out, you must if you crave small town goodness (February, 2, 2023)

I need cake…candy?, cookies, SO MUCH SUGAR after finishing this book, I’m so upset it’s over, I miss my babies and I will replace that sadness by getting a sugar high🚶🏼‍♀️💕

I know it's going to be hard for y'all to believe, but I am PRETTY SURE that T.C. Matson writes books just for me. (Don't be jealous.) And also-- because I sensed some confusion amongst other readers-- Callen is mine. I called dibs from the second met him, and I'm tougher than I look, so don't try me.

This book had E.V.E.R.Y.T.H.I.N.G. Amazing characters, amazing dialogue, sweetness and spice and aaaalllll the feels. I loved every moment, and got so wrapped up in the story that I almost forgot I had a real-life husband until he started yammering on about something while I was in the middle of a chapter.

These characters are so real that your day (assuming you binge-read this all in one sitting...which you should, preferably while drinking a glass of wine and blasting Musiq Soulchild's "Teach Me How to Love" in the background on an endless loop) will absolutely be affected by them. I dare you not to cry. I dare you not to fall in love with Colby - and dare you not to consider birthing, adopting, or borrowing a child because he's so stinkin' cute. And most importantly, I dare you to read this and not admit that T.C. Matson is the best.

It's just not possible.

When Morgan and her son Colby are kicked out of their home by her cheating ex husband, she drives them down to Florida to start over near Morgan’s brother. When she finds the perfect house to rent, she meets the grumpy, tattooed owner, Callum.

This was the super sweet story of two damaged people finding strength in each other. Callum’s relationship with Colby was precious, and I loved how protective he was of Colby and Morgan from the very beginning. The way Callum and Morgan helped each other to overcome their past traumas to see that they were deserving and perfect for each other warmed my heart.

This sweet and steamy story included some of my favorite tropes listed below:

🔨Grumpy x Sunshine
🔨Hot Landlord
🔨Single mom
🔨Caretaking

While this is Callen and Morgan’s story, Colby will steal your heart.

A new series by one of my favorite authors, and I am not sure she can top the next book. Show Me The Way was a one day read for me.

Morgan’s ex has traded her in on a younger model, which has her and her son moving to her brother’s home to get on her feet. When she is ready to get her own place, an opportunity falls in her lap, but the homes remodel is not entirely done. Callen can work around Morgan and her son to finish the place; what he does not count on is Colby. Morgan’s son begins to melt Callen’s, hardened heart.

While the attraction is there between Morgan and Callen, they are both cautious due to past events. I enjoyed the journey and support both characters found in each other. Recommended.

Thank you to the Author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.

I can't recommend this one enough! This kicks off a new series and I'm so here for it. This book has me hooked. It's such a beautiful story of two broken souls mending one another. This book had me at single mom, but the whole thing was so worth this read. Callen pulled on my heartstrings big time. That man has a huge heart of gold and so deserves all the happiness he doesn't think he deserves. Man Morgan's ex-husband is a real piece of work. She so deserves a guy like Callen in her life and the fresh start in a new town. Little Colby is so adorable! I loved him so much. I devoured this book in one day. I just couldn't put it down. The last few chapters left me with a huge smile on my face and my romantic heart happy sighing. This is a must read!!

These type of books get me hooked!!!! I couldn't stop reading it and finished in a day.

Morgan goes through some very traumatic situations that led her to becoming a waitress again and renting a house from Callen.

Morgan and her son were kicked out of their house by her horrible of a human ex husband because he cheated. If I could reach in and deck the guy I would of lol. Along with Morgans mother. Yuck talk about disgusting humans.

One of my favorite things about this book is that Morgan goes let her scum bag ex husband or her mother walk all over her. She stands up for herself. Also no secrets are held.

Trigger warnings are mentioned in the beginning.

We get to follow Morgan and Colby (her son) as they start a new life with amazing new people!

Definitely a must read!

Thank you to Greys Promotion for giving me an ARC. I really hope this becomes a series or there is more to this story!!!

Wow just wow. TC Matson has done it again. Show Me the Way is amazing. I absolutely could not put this book down from the beginning it had me drawn in. I wanted to know what was going to happen. My heart broke for Morgan and how her husband could break her heart like that. And Colby hee adorable little boy made me laugh. His personality was magnetic. Morgan goes to her brothers to stay when her marriage falls apart. And we see her grow and face each challenge. Callen oh sweet Callen. I fell in love with him when he stuck up for Morgan when one hee brothers friends tried asking her out. Callen who didn’t have an easy start to life didn’t think he deserved happiness. TC Matson gave us Morgan and Callens story in an awesome way. I loved their chemistry and how Callen was with Colby. There were points in this story where I laughed and cried and even yelled at my kindle. That is what makes this such a great book. I am so excited for this series. Also I loved getting to meet the side characters like Morgan’s brother and friends and Callen’s brother. I can’t wait to see what happens next. I highly recommend this book.

Sheesh, I loved this book, Callen and Morgan - and Colby! - are adorable!!

Morgan and Colby are starting over with just a few boxes of belongings, and believe me, that's damn hard to do! They're moving in with her brother while they get back on their feet (I'm hoping we get Braden's story?!?! 🤞🏻)
But yes, they're moving in with him, she gets a job at the local diner, finds some true friends and eventually finds a house at a very good price and with a hot landlord - he's the perfect example of a grump! He talks with nods, grunts and looks - and he has the biggest heart but believes he's tainted, my heart hurt for him. I love Callen!

She's been used as an emotional punch bag and her self esteem has taken such a beating, that girl deserves nothing but happiness.

It's a sunshine/grump story with an adorable toddler, an a$$wipe of an ex-husband, some low self esteem, starting over, want and desire, new friendships, an attraction between two people that makes you sweat and an undeniable connection alongside an hea - what more could you possibly want?!?

I really liked this book. It was a nice, quick romance read. Morgan was a cute heroine, that was left with nothing since her ex-husband threw her and their son away. Callen was her landlord at the new house she was living in.

Both of them were attracted to each other since day one, but they didn't do anything about it at first. She was afraid to get hurt again after her failed marriage and he had some demons he was battling in his life. But in the end we all know what happens - Love always wins ♥️.

There was plenty of smut and heat between them 🥵🥵🥵 and there wasn't a lot of drama, except maybe her ex husband.

Overall I really enjoyed reading Morgan and Callen's story.

I happened to read a review from a friend and decided to one click.

Show Me The Way was a beautiful/heartwarming/heartbreaking story of two people who haven’t had the best of things in life.

Callen and Morgan’s story hit me in all the feels. Add in Morgan’s son, Colby, their story just evolves and you start to feel their love for each other on every page.

Love it

This book was beautiful.

I loved how Callen took them both on and loved them hard, and worked through his own demons.

Helped her fight her awful ex and came out on top. She blossomed beautifully.

Title: Show Me The Way
Author: T. C. Mats on
Hero/Heroine: Callen & Morgan
Tropes: Single Parent, Small Town,

TW/CW: Sexual Assault (off page), divorce, infidelity, parental abandonment, death of a parent, mention of suicide, mention of adoption, emotionally abusive relationship, car accident,

THE GOOD 😀

Describing this book as sweet would not be doing it any justice. Show Me The Way is a story about picking yourself up after an almighty fall, dusting yourself off and cracking on with life.

Moving to be closer to her brother after the breakdown of her marriage, Morgan is ready to wipe the slate clean and start again, ensuring that her little boy, Colby, has a secure and loving upbringing. When she ends up renting a house from broody but gorgeous Callen, she doesn’t realise how much her life is about to change. For the better obvs.

Morgan was a pillar of strength through the book, even when she was feeling her lowest. Realising she had to just get on with it and be both Mom and Dad to Colby, she suddenly realised that she was nothing like the woman her ex used to belittle. Callen, in all of his grumpy yet gorgeous glory, was hesitant to lay himself bare to Morgan as he had convinced himself he was unworthy of love. However, time after time he proved that he was nothing like her ex husband and only ever wanted to make her and Colby happy. See? Absolute sweetheart and secret marshmallow.

Even though it touched on some serious themes, at its heart this story was one of acceptance and learning to love yourself. I’m looking forward to reading more from this author.

THE BAD ☹️

Kevin. And Morgan’s mother. Pair of nobheads.

Thank you to the author and @greyspromo for providing me with a copy of this to read. This is my honest review.

Lovely low-angst / drama romance. The only drama was caused by heroine's stupid ex and her similarly stupid mother. It was satisfying to see her grow backbone towards the end and send them where they belong...
