'If you loved Fleabag, you'll love this' Laura Kemp on Definitely Fine

Four sisters. One house. It's about to get messy...

Poppy, Saffron, Rosemary and Sorrell might be sisters, but they could not be more different...

Oldest Poppy has hit all the milestones before turning thirty, but constantly being in control is starting to feel a bit suffocating; peacemaker Saffron will do anything to keep her sisters together even at her own expense; Rosemary has crafted a perfect façade, but cracks in her engagement are beginning to surface; youngest Sorrell is pregnant after a one-night stand, and is determined to do it all on her own for once - without any help from her sisters!

But when they inherit their family home, the four must make the decision to keep or sell the house - and they're about to discover that no one gets under your skin quite like family...

Can they ever put their differences aside and find a way to move forward together?

Heartwarming, uplifting and hilarious, Home Sweet Home is a novel about sisters, misunderstandings and growing up. Perfect for fans of Emma Gannon, Olivia Beirne and Helly Acton.

Thank you to Netgalley and Orion for this ARC in exchange for a review.

Poppy, Saffron, Rosemary, and Sorrel may be sisters, but they couldn't be more different. When they inherit their family home, the four must make the decision whether to sell it or keep it. Can they put their differences aside and find a way to move forward together?

I found the characters acted very spoilt and juvenile. The writing did not help with this, and at times, I found myself rolling my eyes at the way these sisters dealt with their differences.

The plot felt a bit predictable, and I knew what the ending would be before I got to it. However, there were funny and cringe-worthy moments. It was hard to find a balance with how I felt about things as they unfolded.

That all being said, it was an easy read with a heartwarming ending.

Firstly do not judge a book by its cover ! I need to shout that out first and foremost as when I first saw this book I thought it looked ok but it didn’t grab my attention. Wow was I wrong!

A little bit of blurb first : Poppy, Saffron, Rosemary, and Sorrel may be sisters, but they couldn't be more different. When they inherit their family home, the four must make the decision whether to sell it or keep it. Can they put their differences aside and find a way to move forward together?

I was completely captivated by the absolutely gorgeous book.
Sometimes I hate back and forths when the narrative changes each chapter but with this book it works perfectly.
With each chapter allowing me to see into a sisters thoughts and feel her emotions I found I was constantly routing for a different sister with each passing chapter. I think though my favourite sister has to be saffron. I was so worried about her as the book progressed and saw a lot of myself in her.

I just couldn’t understand the parents most of the way through the book!
How can someone do what they did? I just can’t understand it , don’t get me wrong im sure it happens but it just felt so unfair and the injustice of their selfishness and the legacy it left made me feel heartbroken for our sisters.

The plot is a little bit predictable at times, especially more towards the end when it got a little cheesy but I completely loved it cheese and all!

The only thing missing was me sun as this is the perfect book to sit in the sun with, relax into and forget about the world. Although you may get sunburnt if you do as this book is impossible to put down and time seems to fly whilst your reading !!

This book surprised me. After a few chapters in (each one from a different sisters pov) I thought that I wasn’t going to finish, I didn’t think I could identify with the characters or see the plot, however I’m pleased I stayed with it as it built and built and I found more and more to identify with. Saffron who felt it was her job to be the peacekeeper, Rosemary who just wanted to feel loved, Poppy who felt she had to support everyone and Sorrel who was the baby of the family and expected to mess up.
It was Sorrel's story that drew me in, I could see her character growing as she tried to break free from her allotted persona and be a mother to her baby. I could also identify with the other sister, feeling abandoned when your parents leave you behind, wanting to ensure no one else feels like that but in the process totally losing sight of what makes you happy. But through it all they found strength in each other and in various friends and partners that helped lift them up and shone a light on how wonderful they are as an individual. The parents Grace and Thatcher really annoyed me, I don’t feel their part was explored enough as to why they did what they did, but maybe that’s a story for another time.

There were four main characters in this story and I must say it took me a long time to start to distinguish between them. Actually, those were the last few chapters where I finally knew which sister I'm reading about and what's her story. They felt the same, to be honest. They were not strong enough to carry this story. They were flat and their personalities and stories were not interesting enough for me to want to keep reading. I've actually put this book away for few long weeks and didn't miss it.

I don' think it was "the most hilarious book about messy sisters". First of all, it was not hilarious. It was somehow sad. Because, and it's secondly, the sisters were not messy. Messy for me is also funny. And they were not. They simply had too many issues to deal with, things that they kept for themselves, secrets, problems with past. It's not messy. It's sad and gloomy and depressing - and for me the whole book felt like this. The issue with the parents was so annoying, to be honest, and they appeared on the pages when it was comfortable for the plot.

Nevertheless, it was a light and easy read about family relationships, with a heartwarming and predictable ending. 3 stars, as I'm feeling generous today.

Home Sweet Home

Four sisters all continue the story in alternating chapters in this fun, uplifting and delightful family saga. Poppy, Saffron, Rosemary and Sorrell may be sisters but their lives are very different and when their parents drop news on them things don’t go as any of them planned.
.
This book covers some difficult topics in a relatable way and will draw you into the characters and their lives.
We learn about human nature and how events will shape us differently.
.
I really liked Poppy from the outset and could emphasise with Saffron as I feel I play a similar role with my siblings. There are elements of every sister in each of us.
.
There are also a few rogues in this story, and Grace and Thatcher are definitely not in my likeable character lists but I do love a book with people I dislike in it.
.
This book was thoroughly enjoyable whilst making me think about my own family relationships. It was uplifting and fun and my perfect weekend reading.

This seemed to be one of those books where the characters annoy you so much you end up losing interest. At least that was how it was for me. I just about got over the herby names but unfortunately their behaviour was equally tedious.
I was sometimes amused by them against my better judgement but overall a disappointing read for me.

The book is written multi pov, focusing on four botanically-named sisters. The story opens with their parents gifting them their family home and the girls agonise over what to do with the house whilst navigating their lives and relationships. The book tackles some serious issues but is lighthearted and engaging. The characters and their situations are relatable. I really enjoyed the book.

I tried reading this book twice. The book starts off to slow for me. I stopped reading after the first chapter. DNF

A heartwarming, uplifting and hilarious story about three sisters who are completely different and how they are brought together. It's witty and charming.
