The alternate cover edition for this ASIN B01KE64YWO can be found here and here.
Former marketing whiz Kennedy Lowell knows bartending isn’t her destiny. After derailing her life to epic proportions in one fell swoop, though, she’s content with the easy refuge of pouring drinks and keeping to herself. But the arrival of her sexy new boss and two wannabe friends who won’t take no for an answer throws Kennedy into a tailspin. Add the temptation of a homey new bakery desperately in need of a marketing genius and Kennedy begins to wonder if easy is all it’s cracked up to be.
Easy is Hunter Clayborne’s middle name. Uncomplicated is what he expects when he moves home to Nashville to take over the family business. What he finds, though, is the polar opposite of easy—a bar losing money, a family entrenched in doing things the old-fashioned way, and an irresistible redheaded bartender who keeps him at a cool distance in spite of their sizzling mutual attraction.
There’s nothing simple about the chemistry between Kennedy and Hunter. But sometimes, if you can work your way out of your comfort zone, that’s when you just might find your sweet spot.
Amy Knupp is a USA Today Best-Selling author of contemporary romance and a freelance copy editor. She loves words and grammar and meaty, engrossing stories with complex characters.
Amy lives in Wisconsin with her husband, and has two sons, four cats, and a box turtle. She graduated from the University of Kansas with degrees in French and journalism. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, breaking up cat fights, watching college hoops, and annoying her family by correcting their grammar.
The Gist: Kennedy is having to deal with people. *sigh* A boss she wants to strip naked and jump and two girls intent on making her their friend and business partner. It's a lot for a girl to handle. A tempting--yet scary--job offer in her past career field to boot.
Kennedy is a prickly one. She's standoffish, has a hard time with friendships and trust. She's endearing. You can see how hard she tries not to attach and protect herself and it makes you want to just scoop her up and make her be part of the group somehow. lol And Hunter's just a good guy. He's back home trying to salvage his family's bar--he gave up a successful career to do so. He's solid, patient, ambitious. Sexy, too.
Their romance was fun. The issue of him being her boss and her dealing with a past relationship that went REAL wrong. The attraction is there, the chemistry, just takes a little while for everything to fall into place.
It was an easy read. Likable characters, a little personal drama on both their sides to deal with, friendships, etc. I enjoyed this group and their journey.
Bought this book having enjoyed the first in the series. It is a series of stand alone stories written by different authors. Whilst this book focused on a different character, the world is the same. However, I did not find this as good as the first book because a lot of it felt like reading soft porn. There are times I like that sort of fiction, but I was disappointed by it here as it was not what I was expecting and not what I really wanted. It was still an easy read and I plan to buy the next book in the series.
I had trouble dealing with Kennedy. She does so much self-inflicted damage to herself. Admittedly the story has her acknowledging and addressing this issue, but it’s a painful journey.
OMG!! I never expected how much baggage Kennedy is carting around from her past. She has really overcome a lot of trust issues just to work with Violet and Ivy at SugarBabies bakery. Allowing Hunter to get close to her is taking things to a whole other level. Hunter has baggage of his own in the form of the family legacy business, and the need to ensure its future success. Sometimes it feels like Kennedy is the only one backing his decision to renovate Clayborne's on the Corner. He, Violet and Ivy are the true friends encouraging her to pursue her passion for marketing.
I love how the Hale Street regentrification project is taking shape and breathing life into a dying neighborhood. You can actually feel just how invested, fulfilled and energized the characters are as the new shops start to open along Hale Street. I can't wait for Ivy's story next.
I purchased a copy of this story on Amazon and voluntarily chose to share my review.
Another amazing story in the Hale Street Series about Kennedy Lowell and Hunter Clayborne.
Maybe it was time to stop focusing on the bad stuff and focus on all the good things in life. But, all it takes is one person to point a finger at someone who is just trying to make something of themselves and put the past behind.
People can be so cruel and not care about what they do. How we react to a situation can be more wrong than the person doing the damage. Now, it's your fault for your reaction.
Like Kennedy, she was holding back, afraid of letting herself be happy, when she finally figured out that would be the dumbest thing she could ever do.
Look past the hurt, the pain others inflict on us, where you are now, and how quiet and calm your life is with those who love and care about you, whether they are blood related or not.
Save the best for last.
If you are not a fan and a follower of Amy Knupp, you need to be. Enjoy all of her books in her many series. Happy reading, everyone!
This was the first book I have read by Amy Knupp and the first I have read from the Hale Street Series. It won't be the last for either!
Kennedy is a hot mess due to her past. Her last relationship ended very badly and that has made her lack self confidence in everything. Kennedy has spent that last 2 years wallowing in her past but has 2 new friends/roommates (Violet and Ivy) and their new bakery on Hale St. (Sugar Babies) that needs her marketing expertise. Hunter has just taken over as the owner of Calloway's on the Corner, his family's bar on Hale St. Kennedy works as one of his bartenders in addition to her work for the bakery. They have been dancing around each other for a while each thinking the other is not interested. A single kiss changes everything. Enter their mutual group of friends and love is in the air. I fell in love with Kennedy and Hunter as well as their friends. This author created such depth in her characters that I felt like I was a part of the group with them. This story made me laugh, cry, and sigh contentedly as Kennedy and Hunter work their way to a HEA. There are so many characters that will lead to so many other Hale Street Stories- I can't wait to read them all.
I received an ARC of this book and have voluntarily provided an honest review.
This is my second books of Amy Knupp and I am not disappointed at all !! I love how the chemistry is between Kennedy and Hunter were shown in the book and also how realistic their romance is. I can really relate to the situation and everything in the book, which really make me feel like I am a part of the book instead of a person reading it. I was smiling and sometimes feeling frustrated for Kennedy's situation at the same time. The book is REALLY REALLY good and I REALLY enjoy it ! The only thing is that, I imagined Kennedy a little plump and curvy, but what is with the cover? I might be wrong though, but that's how I imagined her to be with all those cupcakes she tried. I somehow wanted to try Ivy's cupcakes too while reading!! Anyway, I am planning to do a Amy Knupp marathon which I am very excited about right now. I am hooked with Amy Knupp's work !!!
Love and Cupcakes…I received a copy of this book from the author. This is my honest and voluntarily given review. Kennedy lost her confidence two years. Kennedy doesn't feel that she adds enough value as partner in the bakery since she is still working full time as a bartender for Hunter at nights. When she gets involved with Hunter, she has trouble opening up to him. This is not only a love story. It's a story of Kennedy, her friends, and learning to deal with the past. This was a good book. I just wish that I could eat all those delicious cupcakes that Ivy makes and never gain a pound.
"Sweet Spot" 5 stars I purchased a copy of Sweet Spot a Hale Street Romance by Amy Knupp in the Hale Street: The Sweet Collection books 1-3 boxset and this review was given freely. Complex and easy flowing. Kennedy finally gets everything she dreams of both in business and in a romance with Hunter the owner of Clayborne on the Corner bar in this clean romance with a hint of steam. Kennedy's loving and helpful roommates give her the confidence to leave the safety of working at the bar,to open up about her past, to accept a relationship with Hunter can last, and to defying the interference of Violet's mother.
SWEET SPOT the 2nd book in Hale Street Series by Amy Knupp We meet Kennedy who just committed to running a bakery for a year. Her crazy cousins found out she had a marketing degree and her father left her and old building , as though that's all it took. Problem is Kennedy doesn't bake.Doesnt want to give up her other job bar tending or is it Hunter. Delightful reading once again by Amy. Given ARC my voluntary review and my honest opinion.
Second book in this series and I want the first book this one was very well written and the story made you want to know what would happen next . Kennedy Lowell is now working as a bartender but at one time she was a marketing whiz. I found myself laughing at some of the things that happened.Hunter Clayborne is her new boss after his Dad retires. But because of Kennedy's issues I was not sure what would happen! I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
I received a free copy of this book and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
This is the second book from this author that I have read. She has become a favorite of mine. Her books are absolutely wonderful. Once you start reading, you will not be able to stop. The heartwarming characters and story line are so enchanting. You will truly feel like you are right there and a part of the story.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a wonderfully written romance.
I loved the book, loved all of the characters & loved Hale Street an who couldn’t love Kennedy or Hunter?Amy wrote the book so, you could see & hear the characters! And understand why they decided to do something! It was a book I would read again and would recommend that if somebody loved romance this is their book! Can’t hardly wait until the next book!I received this as an ARC but, it didn’t effect my review!
I always find a book enjoyable if I can relate to the characters. I also lost a job and went into bartending although it never really came to fruition. This batch of books brings the characters from the pages and gives them real life. The descriptions of the Hale street and the hard work that’s going into building it up feels like I can walk down the road and be there with them . I loved the book.
Wonderful book! Amy Knupp is a great author! She breathes life into each of her characters, with so many dimensions.
There are strong women who believe in each other and are anchors for each. A community that whats to revitalize what once was. Finding love, drama entails, taking risks that bring rewards, if only to believe a future is possible.
What a sweet story about starting over after a disastrous life and career ended in massive debt and disappointment. Kennedy worked hard to make up for some stupid mistakes she made by starting a new life, making new friends and connecting with a potential new love. However, her trust issues make it difficult and she has a decision facing her that could change everything she’s done for the past two years. Really enjoyed this book!
I loved this story from beginning to end it had me! The characters and relationships were wonderful. I laughed and got so angry in parts of the story. I truly believe if you're looking for a story with a sense of humor about love and overcoming adversity, looking to the future, great friendships and community look no further.
Kennedy has run away from a rough last and became a bartender. Hunter is her boss. They click but it does take a while to get together. Their ups and downs that are mostly affected by her last are very emotional at points. Love the and all the craziness in this book. Her friends and this street are fabulous. Love this story.
Hale St. A good area to live and work. The bakery to die for.
A good group of soon to be friends, with very different types of skills and experience but who lived together and made it work. HIGHLY RECOMMEND, kind of like a yoyo of emotional distress 's but a great read. Always hate to give away the plot, but these characters make it enjoyable to read.
So the writing is fine, I just thought the background stories were fake. Everyone fits a "character". The perfect baker. The girl with the problem mom. The guy trying to make the bar work. The girl with the bad ex-boyfriend. Unfortunately all together it was really boring. I just didn't care.
Kennedy is a character holding onto too much angst and needs more confidence. It's Hunter who can give it to her if she'll only let him. Some parts I'm laughing out loud, others I want to hit Kennedy. But the characters are great together. It's a great warning to women who are have problems with an existing relationship to keep eyes open for any signs (like Kennedy disregarded).
Oh, my goodness! Have your tissues ready!! This one really tugged at my heart. This girl's confidence was so beaten down that it took more than one second chance for her to recover. Not a totally clean story, but not graphic. I loved it!
Love the bar and bakery across the street from each other. Kennedy's ability to create a master piece of a marketing plan. She just needed to have the same ability to believe in herself. Love the book from cover to cover.
I read quite a few reviews after I read this book. Did some of them read a different book?? I loved it. The characters were amazing and beautifully written. It actually had me in tears at one point as so emotionally written. I just found a new author to look out for.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was so realistic, it was easy to read, fast paced and I couldn't wait to get to the end, then I didn't want it to end. Love it.
Oh my gosh, this is definitely a book you will not want to put down! I got started on it and wanted to put a do not disturb sign up. This Author did a great job with this one.
What a great place to live, surrounded by friends and family. All in the same boat trying to get their businesses up and running and falling in love! It's a good short read.
Good story and good language. Instead of spending a lot of time detailing the many unneeded sex scenes, the author could have developed Kennedy's future successes in marketing and Hunter's renovations instead. That would have been interesting. Also, the downfall of Serena.
Nice romance. The h had problems with friendships, her ex boyfriend, and her job. And big money problems. It took her the entire story to grow up enough to realize she had friends, a good job, and a far better boyfriend than before.
I like the multi author aspect of this series as the three authors are distinct but cohesive. Unfortunately I found Kennedy & her prolonged response to her past irritating. I don't mind angst but it felt too much in this book / series, which is more upbeat.
