Book 6 of Shadow Recon by Dale Mayer is another terrific story set in this action packed series. Nikolai finds himself questioning just how much he didn't know about his friend . We are finally starting to get some answers to what is going on at the base. Nikolai and Emily work together to assist them but soon Nikolai finds himself in serious danger .
Every time I read a new book in this series I leave with more questions than answers.
The here were some crazy secrets revealed in this one that I wasn’t expecting. Just a small amount of romance in this super crazy suspenseful puzzle that just keeps on growing. The end did give us a twisted surprise that makes me so eager for the next book now!!
I loved this book. We are finally starting to get some answers to what is going on at the base. But of course that leads to even more questions. Emily and Nikolai make a great couple. She stands up for him when his association with Eric casts suspicion on him. I really like the character of Emily. She is smart, honest and straightforward. She is not afraid to say what she is thinking.

I really enjoyed reading Nikolai . It's interesting and intriguing and definitely Suspenseful with a light touch of romance . Nikolai finds himself questioning just how much he didn't know about his friend . It was thought the man was lost in the freezing Arctic . He tried to attack a woman on the base and she shot and killed him that changed everything . As the team that has been brought in to investigate all the troubles going on at the base are looking for more answers . Nikolai and Emily work together to assist them but soon Nikolai finds himself in serious danger . I could not recommend reading this sensational suspense more .

Nikolai had been at the camp in the Arctic almost since the beginning and one of his friends was one of the first to go missing even though he had almost more training than anyone else in the camp. He has no idea what has happened and as they find out more and more in bits and pieces he realises his friend had withheld things from him. Emily didn't say no to Mason to try and find answers from a different point of view even though answers are thin on the ground. Then another body is found which will shock them all. What is the end game and will Nikolai have someone go for him?
The mystery continues as time passes and there is another death. Nikolai and Emily are at the centre of this story and several important breakthroughs occur as they get closer to finding some of the missing people and cracking the case as to who is involved. I loved the way that this shows the way that pack mentality can occur and how close relationships can develop rapidly. As usual, I was intrigued by what was happening and who was or was not responsible for the things that were happening. Easy to read, feel and understand.

This is not entirely a standalone book as it is a part of a series with some cliff hangers at the end of each book. It is a page turner but many questions are generated even as others are answered. This is Nikolai and Emily's story. People are still missing and Shadow Recon keeps digging to find the answers.

This story will keep you on your toes. Emily was the one they weren't expecting. Nikolai is finding secrets of his own. There's plenty of danger and death. Can't wait for the next book.
If you haven't read the other books in this series STOP! Go back and read them, this is an ongoing story line.
The prologue of this book shows the aftermath of the attack on Chrissy and Whalen. The intruder had shot at Chrissy, and she shot him in the chest. He didn't make it and it's discovered he's one of first men who went missing. Nikolai knew him and called him a friend, now he isn't so sure.
Emily was asked by Mason to sort of join the team. More of an observe people and watch their reactions as things unfold. When Nicolai goes outside to think after being questioned by the team about his friend Eric, Emily follows. She wants him to come inside before he becomes a statistic as well. They're having quite the discussion, and she observes he doesn't seem to like her very much. One thing Nikolai makes very clear is that this was out of character for the Eric he called friend. As she wasn't bundled up for the weather, I kind of thought Emily should be frozen by the time Mountain yells at them to get inside.
One thing is for certain, they need to look at these events from a different angle. There's also more urgency in locating Teegan, since Eric turned up alive at least until he was shot in the altercation. We've learned that Eric was not part of a team per se but as a special assignment. He had more experience than just about everyone with artic survival since he grew up in Siberia. These things were like second nature to him. He was egotistical, and people either loved or hated him. It's agreed they need to find where Eric had been holing up or if he actually ever really left.
As the questioning begins once again, they're going around in circles again. Emily goes out to be with the dogs for a bit and Joe suggests taking a couple of them out for a ski. Before they leave, Emily has a feeling, more of an intuition that the dogs shouldn't be left alone. Joe asks who he should call to sit with them, and she suggests Nikolai could use the break.
Joe and Emily's discover on this ski with the dogs becomes the first big break they've had. Now that they know what they're looking for they can look for more like it.
Emily also comes up with a theory regarding the dog barn that has some interesting results.
In this one we finally start getting some answers, but not all and it most certainly becomes more intriguing as more comes to light. To top it off there's an OMG ending that has me salivating for the next book!
This is a continuation of Dale Mayer’s “Shadow Recon” suspense s series that takes place in the permafrost of the Arctic. People from many countries are using this time to work on their winter skills. Unfortunately, their training has been taken hostage by someone who is threatening the members. Some members are missing, many have been attacked, and several have even been murdered. Undercover agents have been brought in to help find the culprit(s), but, so far, no one can find anything.
Nikolai’s friend, Eric, was one of the first to go missing. But, only recently has his dead body been found. It is discovered that his only been dead for a short time. The major question is: where was he the rest of the time?
During this investigation, Nikolai realizes that Eric may have been part of many of the horrible incidents that have been going on in the training camp. Thus, he begins to question his relationship with Eric. Was Eric really his friend, or was he just using him to for his own selfish reasons.
Emily is also a member of the joint force. However, when Mason asks her to go undercover to help find out what is going on, she agrees. Almost everyone believes that Nikolai assisted Eric with his nefarious plans. However, Emily believes that Nikolai is innocent and that Eric took advantage of his friendship. Thus, she helps him with his investigation so she can help prove that Eric worked on his own.
Their investigation is filled with non-stop action as Emily and Nikolai encounter dangerous action, many perilous situations, riveting suspense and, even, some sexual harassment. It also contains many twists and turns to confuse us. The author totally amps up the suspense as we seem to get closer to who is causing all of these chaotic, deadly situations and why.
I am really loving this series, it is so unique, it might be freezing in the Arctic Tundra but things are hotting up. Nikolai Kersaf stared down at the body of his friend, the friend that he thought that he knew, the friend who had been one of the first to disappear from the International Arctic Training compound, the friend who had been shot whilst attacking a woman. Emily Deshawn was asked by Mason to keep her eyes and ears open and report anything suspicious to his undercover investigation team. Things at the Arctic Training Camp were going from bad to worse as the body count escalated, the fear in the camp was palpable, everyone was under suspicion making the highly trained military men at the camp hostile. As Nikolai was questioned it became clear that he didn't know his friend Eric at all, what secrets had Eric kept from him and why ? what happened to the Eric that he knew, did he ever exist ? Nikolai needed answers and he was determined to get them. Emily believed Nikolai and decided to help him in his quest and along with Magnus and Mountain they tried to unravel the few clues that they had. This book oozes suspicion, anger and danger, it is action packed with nail biting suspense, Mountain needs to find his brother Teegan, Teegan was one of the first to disappear, along with Doctor Amelia from the near by scientific station, Mountain refused to believe that they were dead. As the story unfolds Emily and Nikolai become close, could there be a HEA for them ? Dale Mayer excitingly leads into the next book and I can't wait to read it.

Continuing to battle the brutal Arctic weather, the base is still dealing with more questions than answers. They sometimes seem to be getting somewhere, then they find another body or someone is attacked and it sets the investigation back to square one.
A lot of twists and turns, it seems as though danger is around every corner and no one trusts anyone. This makes for a very tenuous time at the base. Emily has to deal with sexual harassment during a time when the men should all be pulling together and keeping the women and the entire base safe while figuring out what’s going on.
If everyone would just tell the truth and have open discussions, all would be good, instead, they are all keeping secrets and stalling the investigations. Nikolai suddenly finds himself a victim when he least expects it, resulting in yet another mystery to solve.
No one is safe, the weather is brutal and everyone need answers. Suspenseful and mysterious, dangerous and treacherous, all the good stuff for an exciting story!
Nikolai is frustrated that he finds himself a suspect when he isn't even sure he is a witness, the man he knew is not the man they now have in front of them, he is a whole lot less than they thought and a whole lot more than they wanted. As more memories come forward they unearth long buried secrets and he realises that nothing is as he thought...or has been told. Betrayal, grief and anger war through his system but Nikolai manages to keep his emotions under control, Emily helps to keep his focus on what he can control and talks through that he can't. I am impressed with just how controlled Nikolai is, he is a true warrior who can see the bigger picture without losing the finer details. They manage to collect a lot of puzzle pieces in this book and as devastating as some are and as bleak as the picture this is being revealed becomes, the team find new motivation as the end appears to finally be in sight and those that were thought to be lost to them, may not be completely lost.
This book was more satisfying than some of the others. Still waiting for many answers, but I feel like the information is starting to coalesce. I even felt like I could narrow down some suspects instead of suspecting everyone but the core group.
Nikolai and Emily had an interesting relationship. She was making 2+2=4 and I kept wondering how she was making the connections when almost no one else was doing it.
I felt like the action and suspense was elevated in this episode of Shadow Recon. There was real tension when Emily was being harassed, and I wasn't sure why it was happening to her specifically. I felt like I was missing a hidden agenda. There was an unexpected twist at the end that has me looking forward to the next book in the series.
I don't feel like this is a book that can be read as a standalone. There is so much information that happened before this. I believe it would be more enjoyable if read in order. I listened to the audiobook and really enjoyed the narrator.
This series is intriguing with tons of twists and turns, unsual circumstances and weather. This instalment is no less than any of the previous books but we get a bit further with the investigation, we also come to figure out that it didn't start in this snowy artic camp. More fabulous characters, though honestly at this stage there seem to be more investigators than teams for survival training. Is this all a big game to test the ultimate skills I wonder? How can people stay hidden or be inside unless accounted for? This is really keeping me hooked and my brain working overtime to try and figure it all out, clues get us just a tiny bit further in each book and this one gets us a few answers but I definitely need the next two. So exciting and fresh, the setting and harsh landscape, the mix of military from different countries, I'm not sure any other author has written anything quite like this. Dramatic reading.
Nikolai by Dale Mayer Shadow Recon Series Book Six Nikolai Kersaf is shocked to find a man he thought was a friend had died while attacking a woman at the base. Especially since they all thought he was dead after he disappeared one day. And because of his connection to Eric, he was getting the looks of distrust. He was determined to find out what was happening at this base. Emily Deshawn was a plant from Mason to help find out what was happening at this camp. He thought she’d discover more since all the men had been made. She did want to find out, but she also wanted Nikolai. It was terrible timing for a relationship, but it was what it was. This series takes place at a military training camp in the Arctic. Things keep happening, but they get more dead bodies than answers. Page-turning romance and adventure that includes adorable sled dogs. **Mild sexual content and language https://justjudysjumbles.blogspot.com...
The mystery of this training camp, deep in the Arctic, is being solved slowly but the pieces are coming together. Not soon enough to prevent another death. This story is of Nikolai who although appears to be Russian is actually on the Swiss team. Nikolai's friend Eric from the Russian team has been missing, now found dead and everyone feels Nikolai knows something more than he is telling. Emily has come to the camp to help solve the mysterious saga of missing people and the deaths but no one knows that is why she is there. So this is Nikolai and Emily's story and interesting it is! Lots of twists and turns. Lots of people interplay. Lots of possibilities but no real answers yet but the path is well done and worth reading!.

Having his friend disappear was unsettling enough but for him to return and lose his life while hurting others was something he was unable to reconcile. Based on his recent actions the man he knew is very different from the man he has become and now he is left searching for answers.
With all the suspicious activities going on at the training center Emily has been asked to see what she can find out and report back to Mason. The situation continues to escalate as another person goes missing and they need to find out who is behind it and why so that they can try and put an end to it before yet another person disappears.
Nikolai and Emily find themselves working together as the suspense and intrigue continues and they find themselves uncertain who they can trust.
I don't know what to say but OMG. This had me on the edge of my seat with 4 possible suspects in all this mess. With the aftermath of Eric being killed, we are now with Nicolai, the "best friend of Eric. He is fighting for his innocence and at every corner something new is thrown at him. Something massive is discovered and even close family can't lie to him. But with man being found and other acting suspiciously it only a matter of time before the real culprit is found an named. I can't lie, this is the best book yet. It brings us closer to Mountain, his brother and the explosive ending on who, why and what for. I can't wait or the next book.
Things keep bringing us back to the people I suspect, but is it really one of them that has done all of this? I've enjoyed this series and love reading this author's work, but I feel this situation has been stretched out long enough. However, yes, I will be reading any more books in the series because I have to know what happens. :) This book is full of mystery, suspense, growing friendships in the mix of doubt, and oh my the ending.

Nikolai can't believe the man he thought of as a friend has been hiding out the for some reason that he has no idea but when he hears that his friend attack .as the questions continue he starts to feel like they don't trust him.He knows he did nothing wrong.but he wants to find out who he was working and they are dead.Emily tells the guys to lighten up that Nikolai had no idea that his so called friend was alive and causing problems. She said she'd stay with him and if he remembered anything they would let them know.I can hardly wait to see what's next by this multi talented author.
Things are really starting to pop! This book shows you never really can know everything about a friend, or so called friend. Emily is there on behest of Mason and shes is straight forward and calls things as she sees them. It great seeing this series from her eyes and Nikolai. There is loss, twists, light romance and a winner of a surprise. So ready for book 7! Thank you for the arc. I freely volunteer my thoughts and opinions. #Nikolai #ShadowRecon #DaleMayer #ValleyPublishing #Booksprout
There have been so many unexplained things happening throughout this series including deaths, fires, generators going out, and so much more. But in this book, there are some breaks that as to who is behind a number of these instances, and it feels like we are getting closer to a resolution. Emily has paid a key part in raising questions to Nikolai that has led to surprising turns in the investigation. So much suspense and danger along with another romance.
I really liked how his time we have Emily as the more so primary character and straight shooter and Nikolai supporting her and her helping him recognize clues about Eric and hopefully what's going on. I really felt everyone' frustrations as it appears with every advance they make more twists and questions arise, hopefully it all comes together soon before Mountain and the team are all that's left standing!.

Wow!!! There's a lot going on in this one and it kept me in suspense. I enjoy these characters and Nikolai and Emily were great additions. We are creeping closer to the answers and this one had some shocks along the way. The romance is a slow burn with some humor as well. Then there's the ending. I'm so excited for the final books in this series!.

This book was INCREDIBLE! It’s one hell of a ride full of high chemistry, which was all-consuming, and such a delight and addictive read. AMAZING. I highly recommend it! The suspense, twists, turns and characters kept me enthralled from the very first page. This page-turner will keep you up all night but it is so worth it! Grab your copy today as this needs to be in your library and on your TBR list. Happy reading
This is a great book that is well written and has an interesting storyline. The characters are captivating and complex. This is not totally a standalone as the storyline continues in this series. However, this couple does find each other at the end. Many questions are answered in this book and many more came up. I am looking forward to the next book in the series.

Fear can cause people to do drastic things. Nobody can leave the military training compound, but more people come in to replace those who have died or are missing, plus the special team of investigators. This is not received very well, and chaos ensues.
Who is behind all the chaos, and how are they entering the compound? Or are they hiding in the compound? A story within an ongoing story. Who is the killer? Why are they killing? Twists and turns galore.
Nikolai Book 6 of Shadow Recon by Dale Mayer is another terrific story set in this action packed series. A fast paced story that I read in one sitting it’s that good. I highly recommend reading this series in order to get the absolute most out of it.

Nikolai has been there since the beginning and Eric was his friend who went missing. Now Nikolai doesn't know just how much of a friend Eric really was. Emily was a surprise and we're starting to get answer's but still there's questions left to answer. Lots of suspense, twist and turns, danger and secrets.
Nikolai waa brought in to identify the dead Eric, who he thought was his friend. Emily is very tenacious about getting in his face to find answers. Ms. Mayer is very creative with the twists this book goes on. The secrets Eric held are based when he was growing up. Way to go on the surprise ending.
