My name is Christopher Greyson, and I am a storyteller.
Since I was a little boy, I have dreamt of what mystery was around the next corner, or what quest lay over the hill. If I couldn’t find an adventure, one usually found me, and now I weave those tales into my stories. I am blessed to have written over twenty novels.
My love for tales of mystery and adventure began with my grandfather, a decorated World War I hero. I will never forget being introduced to his friend, a WWI pilot who flew across the skies at the same time as the feared, legendary Red Baron. My love of reading and storytelling eventually led me to write and it’s the best job I’ve ever had.
I love to hear from my readers. Being familiar with the author and his other books, I chose this book series to see what it was about. It's almost like reading a horror story. I try to imagine what it must be like to go for a year with out electricity and running water. Also, no cars!?!? Anyway, our reluctant hero is trying to figure out what kind of monsters are out there and how to defeat them. He has a great dog and horse which helps. But his town and it's people, including his crazy ex-wife, are not making it easy. He is a marine who loves his country, but they never taught him how to defeat whatever creatures are out there. I need to get to the second book to find out.
I've grown weary of so many cookie-cutter post-apocalyptic books that I've grown weary of reading them. But I threw the dice and gave this a go. I'm glad I did! It's really quite different, other than the main character is an ex military guy. But he's quite flawed and not super human. There's multiple mysteries in this book. And I haven't even come close to figuring out how they're all related. I'm hooked and look forward to reading what comes next.
This book took a little while for me to get into as there were so many characters throughout. I had to keep reminding myself which was which and where they fitted into the storyline. Once I got into it, though, I really enjoyed it.
Be warned, this book ends on a cliffhanger and has left me wanting more already!
Wow! What a fantastic read! This was so interesting with mysteries and plot twists galore. I really enjoyed the characters. Cain is intense, a little frightening, and wonderfully lovable. Mercy is so sweet and compelling. Lucy is delightful and makes me laugh. This great novel has it all: fantastic plot, compelling characters, and an eerie setting. I can't wait to read the second one!
Okay, this book had me on the edge of my seat. I have read and love all of Christopher Greyson's books, but this one was so different. I had to stop reading on and off because it was so intense. Highly recommend. Cannot wait for the follow-up.
Wtf? This book was 5 glorious stars…..and then READER, it ended NOWHERE. No stars now (or forever until I find out what happens to Cain, Mercy and Cooper). Immediately, please Mr Greyson, we have to find Jacob for heavens sake…
I hate cliffhangers endings! If you don't want to be dragged into reading who knows how many more books, don't start this one! The only reason I didn't give it 1 star is because I reserve those for books I don't finish.
