Falling for her housemate wasn't part of the plan.
As a fox, Lynn’s used to being blamed for the faults of others. So after losing her job and being relocated to a town she doesn’t know, she’s determined to keep her head down.
Moving in with a bunch of wolves isn't ideal. Neither is her fox’s obsession with the she-wolf who also happens to be the head of the house.
Dova’s smart, beautiful, and nothing like the wolves Lynn remembers from her childhood. She’s also off limits, which means no ogling, daydreaming, or fantasies of any kind.
This would be a lot easier, of course, if Lynn’s fox would stop running circles around her ankles.
After moving into the best home she’s ever known, can Lynn keep her fox in line? Or is the relationship she shares with her housemates doomed from the start?
Alpha’s Choice is a paranormal sapphic romance between a strong fox, a devoted wolf, and the love they share.
3 stars - a very low angst sweet romance with an interesting twist of adding racism...species-ism? in the shifter community where fox shifters are considered second class citizens. Because of this the fox MC had a very hard life and so her being able to find her true love and a place to belong finally was nice to see. Beyond that the story is not very deep.
I love a good shifter story but I'm not sure what the plot was in this one. Lynn is a fox shifter who's had a rough life due to constant discrimination because of the unfair negative stereotypes attached to foxes. An incident causes her to have to move and end up in a house living with 3 other shifters and there's the romance element with Dova, one of the roommates but other than that, it didn't feel engaging.
Lynn had an upsetting backstory and clearly deserved a better, happier life but even so, I couldn't really connect with her on any other level than the hardship of her past and the character didn't feel developed. And the back and forth between her and Dova was a constant "I'm sorry", "no I'm sorry" or "it's my fault", "no, it's my fault". It felt like no one had any flaws and seemed like a competition for who could take the most blame or be the nicest. Low angst for sure.
And I also kinda drifted away a few times with the slow dialogue about board games, dinner or work. A lot of talking without much doing. During the sex scenes too. I like sexy talk but having a conversation while in the middle of getting it on takes me out of the scene. The conversations seemed out of place, like it would've been an after sex euphoric kind of dialogue. Little chemistry, little build up. Didn't feel like Dova was interested like that until it was said out loud.
If you're in the mood for a smooth, low conflict story, this is the perfect book so don't let my pessimistic attitude deter. I'm just a really picky reader I guess and need flawed characters with more angst. So, 3 stars because even though it wasn't for me, it's for anyone who enjoys a chill, sweet story with a much deserved happy ending.
Some books are like a warm fluffy blanket, light and engaging, filled with hope, positivity, and tender emotions as a characters finds what they are looking for. A place to belong. A home. And the one to be with. This story is definitely one of those, but at the same time there are multiple layers to it as well, as other topics, ones tender and brittle, but in different ways, present themselves. Of lives that aren't so easy, of discrimination that is unfortunately far too rife, and of the fallout of trying to stand up for what you believe in. They hit hard, a harsh reminder, cause let's face it, life isn't fair, but even amongst all of that, there is hope, there is goodness, and there is love to be found. And maybe some hot scenes as well.
Lynn deserves all the hugs, and Dova really is a sweet heart.
There is a lot here to love and to enjoy. Very much C.A. Hall's style, in a setting where shifters are much more in the open (with both the pros and cons that that comes with), the tale is enjoyable and happily devoured.
C.A., another wonderful story of 2 woman finding each other and overcoming the odds against them. Lynn is such a sweet character who did not deserve what she went through. Dova and the other housemates helped her get over her past and heal. She learned to love an trust. Good writing. Look forward to reading more of your stories.
so sweet by most shape shifter standards and I liked it. Who knew I would also find in this book lessons of tolerance, prejudice, and love. It's a short, fast read that ends on a very high note. I enjoyed all the characters and especially the 2 main characters. I'm giving this book a 5 star rating for being a different, kinder, gentler shifter story. Well done.
Wow fantastic storyline I loved the main characters chemistry it was described perfectly their willingness to fight for each other and themselves was the icing on the cake congratulations
I enjoy the animal shifter genre, and this story was really cute. I love the way the characters interact with their animal alters, and the love is relatable.
I can't help but compare every time I read a Fox Shifter book, I think of "The Madison Wolves" by Robin Roseau - I liked this one. The relationship between a wolf and Fox is very fantasy and I love that because of how it delicacy of it all is handled.
