You can tell this book is written from experience. It's authentic, engaging, super practical, and as an HR professional myself, I can vouch that the advice is spot on!
This is such an excellent resource and I’d highly recommend it to anyone. I’m impressed by how well Glen and Shelly were able to make the advice applicable to almost anyone in any situation. I did a mix of reading the physical book and listening to the audiobook, and completed a number of the activities too which proved to be hugely helpful. This has been the push I need to make a big career decision and feel empowered and confident in doing so. I’ll be recommending this book to everyone I know!
The biggest money-making decision of our lives is to invest in our careers! This sentence will stick with me for a long time thanks to this amazing book. It’s full of tips and advice on all sorts of career-related issues, including value-based approach to selecting the right career or taking risks in your career. I also listen to Shelly’s podcast on Spotify and her advice has made me to reflect on a lot of things.
This book does a good job of telling you how to sort out your priorities and figure out what you want from your working environment.
Communication is key sort out what you actually value, here's the thing it doesn't really matter how much money you make as long as you're not dying and are happy in life because so much of your day quite often will take up from work so if you're not happy with that time then you need to reprioritize your life.
I read this book more out of curiosity to see how can such a topic be written upon. I can only say it's nicely done. The book certainly has its audience. The payoff from such books is huge when we do the exercises given for us as well. I didn't. I hope I will give it a visit when I'm considering changing tracks.
The insights of Glen and Shelley shine through beautifully, and the roadmap style of this book really helped to build great foundations of knowing your “why” behind your career - because we all just go straight to our resume/CV!
Cannot recommend this book enough! Truly life changing 💛
Read it, just read it!! It’s an amazing practical book that provides so many loving hard truths and proverbial slaps in the face regards if you need to make a change or want to make sure you’re heading in the right career direction.
This book is practical, interesting and gives amazing prompts for diving deep into personal values and navigating careers with longevity in mind. This is so helpful and I believe that anyone would find this book valuable.
Great interactive book with prompts to guide your learnings and provoke action. I enjoyed the ideas about developing a sense of values to guide your career. I know I'll be rereading this book throughout my career for guidance.
A great, in depth look at how your career should enrich your life. I love Shelley and Glen focus on ensuring that personal values are the core pillars for navigating your career - this is such a healthy mindset that many others don't speak to.
A really practical How to Guide to Sort out our Career! Lots of simple tips and steps that you can follow along and action as you go through the book. I have read and listened to the audio book and both are great. Audio book feels like a trusted career coach in your ears.
Started this due to burnout and illness. I have read a few chapters every couple of weeks. It was a really interesting way to think about work and career. Would definitely recommend to anyone having a career crisis.
This book has given so much clarity by laying a foundation for my ‘why’, rather than diving straight into the ‘what’. I will be referring back to it for many years to come!
Another good book from the Glen James brand. Relevant to anyone looking to switch careers - very happy this kind of book exists for the Aus audience. Solid read.
Good book with practical tips and tricks for someone who is at a crossroads in their career.
Not the best career book I’ve read for someone who is quite happy in their job just wants to push themselves to get better salary etc. Better suited to employees looking for a career change or looking for guidance on what to do next.
Another fantastic book produced by the My Millennial team. Couldn't put this book down. No matter where you are in your career, this book will have some words of wisdom for you.
