I don't believe I have ever read a book that was written by author Ambrielle Kirk, that I didn't enjoy.
Martin Johansson is the owner of Elite Courier, he prides himself on making sure his customers packages are delivered. He has a great team and all is going well right up until 2 of his drivers are out and now delivery is falling a little behind. One of his loyal customers Tiffany Winters is feeling annoyed about the late pick ups now, so he goes over to her business to speak with her about it. But when he arrives he finds that her business is really her home office.
Tiffany Winters is a divorced woman, who is finally running her own Jewelry design business. Her divorce has been finalized for over a year and she has no intentions or desires of embarking into another relationship. The scars of her marriage and divorce has made become a loner and her only desire is company. She is quite content or that is what she tells herself until the owner of Elite Courier rings her doorbell.
Tiffany opens the door to the irresistible Martin and all of her well intentioned plans of being alone flies right out of the window. What starts off as an apology and an explanation, leads to them being trapped together in her apartment, with no electricity due to a violent thunderstorm. By the time Martin leaves Tiffany now knows that she is in trouble but the good kind and she is scared witless of it.
Tiffany and Martin embark on a soul searching adventure, both together and apart. And it will either lead them to becoming more than a client and a customer or they will remain as they are, apart and being friends.
This was a fantastic and short read, less than 100 pages but it was well put together. You are not left wondering about anything.
Tiffany's freakouts were annoying, but understandable. But I liked her, and having been a small business owner working out of my home (and will be again), I completely feel her pain on many levels regarding the business/home aspect. (Hell, now living in England I really wish that post/parcel services did home pick up! The mailman won't even pick up letters!)
Martin was genuinely a good guy, whom I liked very much.
The scene between the ex, the brother, and Tiffany was a bit over the top. Like I truly didn't understand where the brother was coming from beyond him being a friend. He was a bit of a fink that he was siding with the cheating ex over his sister.
All in all, rather enjoyed it, and will check out this author's other works.
An enjoyable short read but not a keeper. I liked this book but did not love it. Martin came across as a genuine guy who just wanted to see where their relationship could go. Tiffany was cautious but a little bit hurtful too, didn't quite warm to her. I am not sure what that whole scene with the brother and ex husband was about. The brother was a complete fink and the ex seemed to think he could apologise and it would be all okay. What if the child was his, what then. He still was a cheating arse. The grammar was incorrect in some sentences which is annoying.
I have a new book boyfriend. Martin is sweet, trustworthy and in his words possessive. And will kick your butt if you come incorrect to his woman. Tiffany recently divorced finding it hard to fight her attraction to Martin. I was a little disappointed at her brother Lawrence trying to help Phillip get back with her. What's done is done. It's time to move on Phil.
"More Than a Client" was an excellent short read, and an excellent introduction to author Ambrielle Kirk! Definitely looking forward to more of her works!
Aubreymac, The Romance Reviews--"I was blown away by Special Client. It was sweet but hot and steamy at the same time...Ms Kirk does a wonderful job getting into the heads of Tiffany and Martin. We get to know them intimately and understand what drives them. Their relationship never seemed strained or forced. It was natural and sweet. I will be on the look-out for more from this author. Every female would want a man like Martin. Smart, sexy and caring." 5 stars!
"T", Reviews at Ebook Addict--"The tension and attraction between Elite Couriers’ owner Martin Johannson and Tiffany Winters, owner of “Tiffany’s Jewels”, is palpable from their very first encounter... I loved the sexual tension that ratcheted up quickly as a casual business meeting became intimate. The atmosphere of seduction delivered by Ms. Kirk was wonderful and I liked the angst of the heroine not wanting to repeat past mistakes and fear of her lightning attraction for Martin stopped this story from too quickly becoming a boy meets girl, girl and boy like each other, hop into bed and then end of story novella. My only problem with “Special Client” was that the ending was rushed. Ms. Kirk gave this reader two interesting and hot characters I wanted to be with longer. That being said “Special Client” delivers in more ways than one and I enjoyed the read."
Greta, The Pen & Muse Book Reviews--"This is the first erotic interracial romance I’ve probably ever read. That said, I found the story entertaining and I would recommend it to others. I thought the characters were fleshed out (no pun intended), the plot strong and the relationship believable...While I stand by my assessment above, I was disappointed that there wasn’t more raising of the stakes with the conflict. I always look for an emotional connection and it just wasn’t there for me."
Ms. Kirk definitely knows how to deliver a steamy sex scene.
Tiffany Winters has been pleased until recently with the shipping company she hired for her business, Tiffany’s Jewels. Frustrated with the continuous late pickups, she contemplates finding a new shipping company. As the owner of Elite Courier, Martin Johansson sought to salvage business with the mysterious voice on the phone face to face. Laying eyes on the masculine figure she had been conversing with for months materialized emotions unknown to her.
Her body never responded to her ex-husband as it was doing in Martin’s presence, which frightened her. Tiffany is your typical scorned woman who has barricaded her heart from others. She gives Phillip Mosley, the ex-husband, more credit than deserved by reliving those hurtful times. Will she move past the pain from her ex-husband and explore a new found bliss with Martin? Or continue the battle within herself out of fear?
Special Client is a short sweet read with steamy sex scenes. I like when an author sets the pace and develops the hero and heroine in great detail; this was executed perfectly. I’m starting to think of Ms. Kirk as my grab and go author, her short stories or novellas are perfect while you wait for appointments or perhaps during your kids extra curriculum activities.
The novella was well written, I was disappointed when it ended. With characters like Martin and Tiffany, their story should have been longer. To add fuel to the fire, the author leaves us with these final words “Tiffany…very soon”. As a reader my imagination went wild. Special Client was enjoyable and one that you should add to your bookshelf.
The tension and attraction between Elite Couriers’ owner Martin Johannson and Tiffany Winters, owner of “Tiffany’s Jewels”, is palpable from their very first encounter. Martin’s surprise visit to “Tiffany’s Jewels” is to assure his disgruntled client that her business is important to him. But he also has an ulterior motive. Martin has been curious to put a face to the voice he has spoken to over several months and will not be deterred from that task despite the last minute realization she works from her home and he has no way of knowing if a boyfriend or husband is in the picture to put a glitch in his plans.
Tiffany’s reaction to her unexpected visitor was believable and the author really delivers the heat right away, though I was a little put off by the familiar plot device of the heroine answering her door in a state of semi undress. Even with that, I loved the sexual tension that ratcheted up quickly as a casual business meeting became intimate. That being said “Special Client” delivers in more ways than one and I enjoyed the read.
When Martin Johansson goes out of his way to make amends with Tiffany Winters, a dissatisfied customer, he doesn't expect the sight of the Nubian beauty to throw him for a loop. He wants to satisfy her in more ways than one. After one date, he knows that engaging in just a business relationship with her won't be enough.
Tiffany's business obligation tosses Martin, owner of Elite Courier, in her path. Their attraction to each other blossoms after only a few phone conversations, and then ignites into full-blown passion when they finally meet in person.
Will Tiffany learn to trust again after her recent divorce and become more than a client?
I tried to understand Tiffany but her hot and cold attitude towards Martin and lack of communication annoyed me.
Loved Martin and Tiffany. Tiffany, the owner of a small jewelry business, is still smarting from her recent divorce from her philandering ex-husband. She meets Martin, the owner of the logistics company she's been using. He's also the owner of the voice that has intrigued her for several months. Eventually, the two spend time together and he realizes what he feels for her. Martin has a tough time convincing Tiffany to give their feelings a shot. He's really in it forever, but she's worried about giving her heart to another man.
Their story is sweet and short, but definitely a great read.

Martin and Tiffany's story that left me breathless! Their story stays in my mind because of Martin's willingness to wait for Tiffany to trust him but still pursue her while giving her space. Tiffany needed time to over come her past relationship and wake to the love and passion in her face; Waited for her to try again. Great story!
