The Sweet One

Rate this book
Since the beginning of time, Noah has guarded over many souls. He has always followed the rules by never getting emotionally involved with the souls he watches over. He is to supervise their lives and report any misdeeds they have done to Him. At the end of their time on Earth, he is to guide them into the afterlife and to their justly rewards, wherever that place may be. Noah has always excelled at being the best of the best…that was until the Sweet One was born. The minute Micah Thompson took his first breath; Noah felt an emotional connection with him that he had never felt before.

Throughout Micah’s childhood and early teenaged years, Noah would briefly show himself and comfort Micah whenever Micah was sad or just had a bad day. Noah’s soothing presence always made Micah feel better. One day Noah decided Micah was getting too attached to him, so he never appeared to Micah again, but he always watched over him and loved him from afar.

Micah is now a popular kindergarten teacher. He’s had some boyfriends, but always compares them to his Angel he saw as a child, and so his relationships never work out. One day on his way home, his Angel interferes with Micah’s destiny and it changes both of their lives forever.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVED THIS BOOK!!

OMG this book is soooo adorable. A love story between a human, mostly down on his luck throughout his life, with a Guardian Angel who was always around when he needed him.

Noah and Micah's love is forbidden and it seems impossible for them to ever reach their HEA...but as the saying goes, 'love conquers all'. They are two soul mates close to each other but worlds away.

An Angel that would sacrifice all for his Sweet One and a human willing to die for their love.

Romantic, erotic, tooth-achingly sweet, with an angel to die for and a human too cute to be true, this is a story to warm the heart. Loved it!

One heck of a heavenly erotic, tender loving story. Think I have a toothache, but a very worthy one that I wouldn't want going away anytime soon.

That's all I'm saying on this one.

Awww I loved this cute, little short story! I wish it could have been longer but it packed in a wonderful lesson about love and sacrifice. Sometimes rules demand to be broken. :)

The Sweet One is a touching love story between Micah, an understated man who, from birth, has been destined for one thing…Noah. Noah has spent his entire existence overseeing his charges, watching their lives, reporting back to the Almighty, letting Him know their actions and guiding them into their afterlife, wherever that might be. But all rules fly out the window one fateful day when Micah’s life is endangered. Noah’s instincts kick in and, by saving Micah, he sets a series of events in motion that pits obligation against true love.

In her novella, Andi Anderson, remains true to her two main characters by portraying their love as pure and genuine. This is not a story of action and intrigue, but rather an exploration of the power of love. While the story is not religious, Ms. Anderson’s choice to include an angel as one of the main love interests and making frequent references to God infuses a spiritual aspect to this tale.

Even the names she has chosen highlight the spirituality of the story. Micah, meaning “who resembles God” is pure and loving. One of the meanings of the name Noah is “peaceful”. True to these definitions, the story portrays love as spiritual and peaceful. Even the sex is loving and filled with emotion as opposed to raw and slightly dirty.

The strengths of this story are also its weaknesses. While Ms. Anderson portrays a story that is both tender and thought-provoking, she does not deliver a gripping plot line. Instead, it serves as a painting of love using words as her paints. The feelings evoked in the tale are far stronger than the story line itself.

There are a few technical aspects to The Sweet One which can distract from the overall story as well. There is a great deal of telling instead of showing, althought there are moments where Ms. Anderson’s descriptions are exquisite. Additionally, she repeats some of the characteristics of her characters a few times, such as how the eyes glow from within. This repetitiveness, along with the telling and a few instances of POV glitches do not take away from the overall message, however.

All in all, this book is a unique and interesting approach to examining love. It’s not a grip your seat page turner, but as a novella of 56 pages, it is well worth the read.

Noah is a Guardian Angel who's looked after tons of souls without any complications. That all changes when he forms a deep bond with Micah, who he thinks of as his Sweet One. When Noah saves Micah, thereby changing his destiny, the two finally meet and love blossoms. Will the Angel and his Sweet One find a way to be together?

I liked both Noah and Micah and enjoyed reading their story. The Sweet One is a well-written, super sweet and romantic story. The characters are likable and although their relationship develops very quickly it worked well. The ending was nicely done and is a perfect HEA for Noah and his Sweet One. This story is perfect for when you need a quick pick-me up, is sure to appeal to fans of the author and also those looking to read a nice, heart-warming story. And as a bonus, I really liked the cover!

Thnaks to Cindi I was pointed in the direction of The Sweet One. I have to say the same thing as her. Awww. This is a well named book. It's just so sweet!

I think pretty much everyone likes the concept of a guardian angel looking over them. A hot one, with a wonderful disposition such as Noah, would just make it better.

Micah and Noah are just lovely. Their moments together are a delight, and the prologue and HEA are cute. Once again, awww. Oh, and just look at that cover :)

The Sweet One is a sweet and short novella as the same title said. It’s the classical story about the Guardian Angel who falls in love with his protégé, and it has that peaceful development such stories should have. I liked the quick insight the author gave us about Micah’s life, how he was always a small and fragile kid, but also how he was able to overcome this and become a kind man. Micah absorbed the peace Noah’s was transmitting him as his guardian, and if Noah went beyond his due in protecting Micah, letting the boy feel he was there for him, all of that was done since, even then, Noah felt his bond with Micah was stronger than ordinary.

The story, in length and time span, is not very long, and as I said, there are really no bumps in this relationship, what you have to enjoy is the warm and comfortable feeling the story leaves you, even when there is passion between the two men, it’s always tempered by that peaceful feeling, almost sedated, but not in a negative meaning of the word, more like comfort than cold.

I have already had the chance to appreciate this side of Andi Anderson’s story, this homey feeling of comfort that in her world, everyone can achieve, straights, gays, bisexuals and even Angels (that in this case are not without genre at all!).

Sugary sweet. I did get some feels when I read this, especially with the way Noah thought about Micah. It reminded me of a fanfic I’ve read.

Enthralling!!!

Absolutely adorable, right from the start, the angel’s perspective was so interesting, the connection between them was mesmerising, the intimacy between was palpable, the love, the affection, the discovering, everything was enchanted! Congratulations to Andi Anderson

The scene at the road was dramatic, I hold my breath for a second, the following scenes were presented with perfection, steam and emotions, all the emotions mixed flawlessly.

The book mention Sarah McLachlan’s song and I believe the book was inspired by it, that song is one of my favourites of all time and it was nice to read with this soundtrack in my head, and it was trough the whole day!!!

This is the ideal short story to read in the early hours to start the day with the right mood! Definitely is a book to read often!

Loved the art cover by Reese Dante! Congrats!!!

Oh! This one was so sweet and romantic and...sweet. Okay, so the characters were definitly too good to be true...but hey, ones an angel for goodness sake ;) The plot was very light on, but it's a short story and sometimes you don't want heavy battles against evil and the weight of the world.

A quick overview : Noah, a Guardian Angel has observed and guided millions of souls, but his Sweet One (Micah) is special. Micah, a kindergarten teacher, is a wonderful man, but he's alone. His relationships never seems to work out...no one can measure up to his memory of the angel that watched over him as a child. A near fatal accident brings things to a head when Noah breaks all the rules and saves Micah. But by saving Micah he believes he had condemed himself.

Overall, a really nicely written short story just perfect for a weary soul...when all you want is a good old fashioned HEA with lots of heart.

Not a particularly earth-shattering story. In fact, the ideas have been done before. Or rather, I've read another story with pretty much the exact same resolution to the premise and such (but I read that one first, so this one will just have to suffer, to quote Simon aka Templar of M. Chandler). In fact, this one, seemed to eschew any other parts in favor of the sex, which, to me, still seemed random as fuck (ahahaha. that was actually originally unintended, if you can believe that).

I mean, it wasn't bad, I guess. It was, eponymously, sweet. Very, very sweet. Enough sugar to stand your spoon up in, if this were a tea cup. Or those chocolate "all-American" cakes that are basically just really sweet cakes that'll probably kill you if you tried to eat the whole thing on your own. Dare I say...cloyingly sweet? Yes, I do.

3/5

A fun, cute and pleasant read. It ticks many of the m/m angel romance genre boxes you expect, so it won't disappoint. That said, son't read this expecting any challenges.

Plot: cute, fuzzy and generally predictable - but not in a bad way... we don't tend to read these kinds of novels for supreme plot devices! Its the love n characters which draw!

Characterisation: thus on that note, this rates alright. You want these characters to have their happiness. But i feel the author wasn't sure if she wanted this to be read as a kind of fairy tale ... or a more fleshy read. Thus the characterisation depth is somewhat lost in the mix. But, i repeat the characterisation is alright. It ticks that box.

A fun, worth a once or twice through box ticking novel which does what it says on the tin. But definitely not groundbreaking or particularly original at all.

Noah is an angel charged with looking after his Sweet One, Micah. Throughout Micah's life, Noah has watched over him, comforted him and loved him. When Noah breaks a major rule in order to prevent a tragedy, he and Micah must deal with the consequences.

I thought this was an absolutely charming story. I already have a soft spot for stories featuring angels and this one didn't let me down. Noah's quiet and unflinching love for his charge was heartwarming and brought a smile to my face. Even though this is a relatively short story, I immediately feel in love with these two characters and hoped they received the HEA they deserved.

The writing seemed a little choppy at times, but it didn't detract too much from the beautiful love story.

I love Angels, and the premise was promising, however, I didn't enjoy this book... The narrative suffered from short sentences, and the dialogue was stiff, awkward and cliche in places. I really wish I could have loved this book. Micah just didn't sound or act like a grown man, and Noah didn't speak or act like a celestial being which was a disappointment and kept me from being invested in these two characters.

That was so sweet, that my teeth hurt. I was in the mood for the sugar from the whole world, so I don't complain.

Micah is a human, Noah is his a guardian angel. They are soul mates. One day Noah save Micah's life. This day might be their last chance to be together, because that (Saving Micah's life.) was against the rules...

My only issue? Why so short?! :(

I was sold after reading the prologue. It was a great way of starting a story.
The title really represents the story. It was such a sweet, cute story (with some sex because why not). I think it was a very interesting idea that was executed well (with some small details that I thought could be better).
A great short read if you want a nice pick-me-up.

So maybe I'm a bit harsh by just giving this one two stars because it wasn't bad but it was very predictable and way too sweet for me. I didn't really feel characters, never got into the story really. I liked the beginning fine but than the sugar attacked and the characters didn't feel alive for me anymore.

This has got to b the cutest book I have ever read. Micah and Noah are so cute together. Who doesn't want an angel to watch over them and perhaps fall in love with them?

I will give this book 4 out of 5 because it wasn't long enough for me.
