Autumn West has a problem. She is a 27 year old virgin. Well, this isn't really a problem since she deliberately decided she wanted to stay a virgin until marriage. However, time has slipped past her somehow. All the women around her are married or in great relationships. And now a girl whom she used to babysit is getting married.

Now Autumn is beginning to get nervous. She is unattached and there is no likely marriage prospects on the horizon. She lives in a small town in Texas and most of the men are already married, too old or too young. The most promising prospect, a sexy local rancher named Eli, has put himself off limits. His wife up and left him and his young son. Eli wants nothing to do with marriage minded women or any woman at all really so he is out of the running. But a girl has to have hope! So Autumn embarks on a plan to seduce a local lothario to get rid of her pesky virginity problem.

But when Eli come upon the guy getting a little too enthusiastic with Autumn, he dispatches him. Dismayed that her likeliest prospect of de-virginiation has been scared off, Autumn demands that Eli find her a replacement. But she has her own agenda, unbeknonwst to him, Autumn has turned her attention and wiles to Eli.

If someone had handed me this book without a cover and without any publication information, I would have sworn it was a Harlequin romance. Admittedly, I am not a fan of the harlequin romance, but calling it a HR is not a defamation of the book. It is just there are themes, set pieces, character types etc. that are hallmarks of that series and this book has them all -- word count, virgin, sweet romance, ranching dad, public declaration of love, feel good ending etc. So it would have fit very well with what Harl does and does well. But Harl seems reluctant to venture into IR romance so they missed out on a book that would have worked well for them.

Which is a shame, because this author is very talented and a wide audience of readers would enjoy exposure to her. If a book had a personality, I would say this one was sprightly, quick witted and funny. You can tell that the author has a naturally humorous 'voice' and it showed to great advantage especially in the first half of the book. I actually think the first part was much, much stronger than the second part of the book. Only because the back half of the book delved a little too much into formulaic rom-drama.

I hope this writer continues to write and hone her craft and writes longer form contemporary romances.

First let me say this book started out like so many IR do. A woman who is a virgin begins the book complaining about not having love in her life and blah blah blah. As you can see those types of stories annoy me because rarely does the main character do anything about her situation until later on in the book and by that time the story becomes rushed where everything seems to happen at once. This book takes a different turn and the heroine decides to take matters into her own hands so to speak. Autumn Harris is a bakery owner in a small town in Texas. (I bet that backstory sounds familiar right, but trust me it doesnt take away from the story) Her cousin whom she used to babysit is now getting married and Autumn begins to feel sorry for herself because all of her sisters are married and she hasnt even done the "deed" yet. She's a few years past 30 and fast approaching 40 with nothing in her life but her shop to show for it. She's a houseful of cats away from being an old maid. She finds herself in a pickle when to make matters worse all of the once eglible bachelors are no longer eligible or so its seems. Which is where Eli King comes in. Eli is a rancher who is bitter about the recent divorce between himself and his goldding, selfish, bitch of a wife. I mean c'mon you have to be pretty selfish to leave your husband with a newborn child. But thats neither here nor there. Eli decides to opt out of relationships and becomes somewhat of a recluse. Even though he wont admit it he's afraid of being rejected by another woman and he's even more afraid of what that will do to his son Trenton. Trenton is an adorable 6 year old (theyre all adorable at that age right) and he and Autumn get along almost at once. They begin baking cookies and a beautiful friendship entails much to the chagrin of father Eli. I dont want to spoil the book but it was a nice enjoyable read. It wasnt the best book but it was far from the worst book ive read so if you find yourself at work with nothing to do but wait for the phone to ring or wait for something to happen on one of the many cameras you're stuck watching which lets face it,it wont because nothing bad or interesting ever happens here,if you find yourself in a similar predicament as myself then by all means download a copy of this book and let yourself be seduced. ;-)

I gave this read 3 1/2 stars which I still consider a nice read. I thought it was sweet and cute. I did enjoy the start but thought the ending was too easy; honestly for me Trenton stole the show for me. Autumn is 27 years old and is still a virgin and figures she is tired of waiting until marriage. Everyone in her family is married or is getting married which makes her feel more depress. So with the help of Olyvia she decides to go out find a guy to get rid of her virginity. When she did find a guy it didn't go so well because she gets drunk and in comes Eli. Eli is a sweet sexy guy with a son, named Trenton. Eli sees Autumn and thinks she needs recusing because she is drunk. While drunk Autumn decides to tell Eli of her plan and let's him promise to help her find a guy to lose her virginity to.

Of course this backfires because both Eli and Autumn begins to have feelings for each other. Though Autumn is find with having feelings for Eli, he is more reluctant because of what his ex wife did in the past. Again nice read cute story, but it was ok for me. I do enjoy some of the author's books.

My 2nd book by Stephanie...Umm I got to be honest....I thought Autumn and Eli was cute...I loved the idea of the story...but at times I got a little bored...Autumn to me was way too desperate...but I loved the role Eli play with his son and not trying to give in to what was thrown at him so easily...Overall this book was just ok to me...But I still love the 1st book I read by Stephanie...
