Getting to Know the Holy Spirit

Rate this book
Christians have many ways to define their relationships with God; as Father, Savior, King, Comforter, or Healer, to name a few. Yet despite these numerous titles, believers often fail to see God in one of the most important roles in their lives: as Friend.

Respected international evangelists Mahesh and Bonnie Chavda show believers everywhere how to develop a close, personal friendship with God through the Holy Spirit. Through inspiring testimonies and sound biblical teaching, readers will learn how to

• recognize and listen to the Spirit's voice and promptings
• receive words of knowledge from the Holy Spirit
• communicate with the Spirit
• move in the anointing and power of the Holy Spirit

Believers will walk away refreshed and full in spirit as they begin this life-changing friendship.

Digging deeper

Certainly found some of the insights enlightning. We read this book as a group of older men who have enjoyed growing closer to Christ for many, many years. It did cause us to pause somewhat as the author describes certain miracles. However, even these short interludes lead to additional discussion regarding the Holy Spirit. Certainly I would recommend this book.

"We are on a journey, and our destination is to commune with the Holy Spirit, to cooperate with Him and His work in our lives. To state it most concisely, the Holy Spirit is holy; it is His desire to make us holy as well. The Lord's intention is that we live in complete health-body, soul and spirit. Then we, being whole, can minister that wholeness to others. (Mahesh & Bonnie Chavda, Getting to Know the Holy Spirit, Page 165)

This book is by no means an exhaustive work on the Holy Spirit; however, just as we all can share our knowledge and experiences on the Holy Spirit, ministers Mahesh and Bonnie do this exceptionally.

This book provides insight into why God has given us the Holy Spirit, the Gifts of the Holy Spirit, the Sanctification of the Spirit, Fellowship with the Holy Spirit...

If you are a serious student of the Holy Spirit, then this book should be one of the books you add to your library and read.

And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever— the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.(John 14:16-17, NKJV)

A joyous and encouraging look, from the charismatic perspective, at the person and work of the Holy Spirit in the believer's life. I want to go back through the book and underline the parts that stood out to me. A sample:

"Love is the ultimate liberty. If God can so work love in us, there is nothing that can happen that can separate us from that abiding assurance. Love suddenly resolves every relational conflict because no matter how people are treating you, you are free in the sense that your response is love. Same with peace. No matter what is going on,.we are walking around in what the Bible calls *shalom,* wholeness, blessed assurance that our ultimate end in everything is for good and for glory.

"All of these things are the outworking, the fruit of the presence of the high priestly ministry of Jesus made real to us by the Person of the Holy Spirit." (cf. Galatians 5:22-23)

Mahesh and Bonnie do an exceptional job of differentiating the role of the Holy Spirit in union with God and Jesus will for each one of us to be in the presence of God. It exemplifies Gods sincere Love and Desire to commune with us as his people. Our daily interaction are much more personable than religious, and this is the emphasis of what the book brings out.

Such a good book to read on the holy spirit, our friend. It had points from both husband and wife who wrote the book together which I liked this about it. We need to be a team with our spouses when it comes to praying, ministering, teaching and the like. I recommend this book

Good book for those who are unfamiliar with Holy Spirit and how he speaks to us. Also a good book for those who may believe the lie that "those" gifts are only for certain people.
